OP09 Yellow (Kalgara) Deck Profile

I don't know if I should post an updated version of Kalgara as the previous version is okay, but will need some changing. There's like 1 card in OP09 that could work with Kalgara, but it is up to you if you want to run it or not. It is not like it is a key card to the build, since we definitely need more Shandian supports, but at the same time, going too far might make this deck very OP.

OP09 Kalgara

How it Works?

This deck works like the previous build where we focus on playing Shandian Warriors for free to build up a board advantage to swing at your opponent's cards. Then, we just hard play our non Shandian cards like the Sky Island Characters and Ace, or save up the DONs to use our Events. You will have plenty of spare DONs left once you filled up your field, unless your opponent is constantly wiping your board. You do want to defend for your Leader as we need Life cards to play Shandian Warriors from our hand, especially during mid game where we've got 5-6 DONs.

As you also know, this build has a lot of vanillas, mainly because the main Shandian Warriors are vanillas, but I guess it is better as they've got the power when it comes to attacking your opponent's cards. Well, we also got Holly and Satori is are Sky Island card, Holly is mainly used with Ohm, whilst Satori is for the 2k counter, and for the trigger effect if you needed.

Searchers

The searchers are very straightforward, and also the cards that lets you add certain cards to your hand. Shura's effect works on play, look at top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Sky Island card other than Shura and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. What we also have is the trigger effect who let us play Shura to pull off the search effects.

OP06 Wyper is a different type of searcher as it requires you to have a 1 cost Stage on the field for the effect to work. You can reduce the number of copies OP06 Wyper since we need Upper Yard and bump the numbers of other cards in this build. The effect works on play, by placing one 1 cost Stage to the bottom of the deck, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Upper Yard or Shandian Warrior card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. I guess the best thing is that we can also search himself if we needed.

Upper Yard is the Stage card we do want in our opening hand if we are going first, if we are going second, we want to see Shura. The effect is basically the same as Shura, on play, look at top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Sky Island card  and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The only difference is that we are not name restricted so we can search for another copy of Upper Yard which will be needed since we can return this Stage using OP06 Wyper's effect.

Shandian Warriors

The Shandian Warriors we have got are vanillas with Wyper being the only Character with an effect, so I'll just be talking about OP08 Wyper's effect. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Upper Yard and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order and play 1 Upper Yard from your hand. Upper Yard is a very important card as you will need Upper Yard on the field to trigger OP06 Wyper's search effect.

Sky Island Supports

Although Shandian Warriors are also Sky Island, these cards are just Sky Island cards which won't work with Kalgara's effect. Pierre is optional in this build, you can run him, you can choose to ignore him and run something else. This is the only card from OP09 set I am running. The effect works on play, draw 2 cards and trash 2 cards from your hand. Personally, I think the hand filter effect is useful as we need specific cards to get this deck working. The trigger effect is play this card.

Ohm and Holly combo has been very popular, well only in Sky Island builds now, and since this deck is focusing on Sky Island, I am running these 2 in the build. Ohm has a cont effect where if your Life is 2 or less he gains 1k power. This shouldn't be hard to reach as we are taking our Life cards when we are using Kalgara's effect. The second effect works on play, look at top 5 cards if your deck, reveal 1 Holly and add it to your hand, then place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order, and play 1 Holly from your hand. If you want to play Holly for free, you need to make sure we have Holly in hand, so even if we wiff the search effect from Ohm, we know we can still play Holly.

Satori is just another vanilla but with a trigger effect that allows you to pay this card by trashing 1 card from your hand. But the main role is definitely the 2k counter as we want to protect the Leader from attacks, so we can add Life cards to our hand without worrying about losing in a few turns.

Non Sky Island Supports

There's only 2 cards in this build that won't be able to search out from your deck, and will have to rely on the power of luck. Noland is very useful, but there is a downside to the effect, you will need Kalgara on the field, or you will just be playing him as a vanilla. The effect works on play, if your Leader is Shandian Warrior type and if you have Kalgara Character in play, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life cards. Life gain will be very important as it will means we will be able to take some hits and wouldn't be forced to use counters from our hand.

ST13 Ace is suited for this build as we constantly take Life cards away thanks to the Leader's effect. The effect works on play, if you have 2 or less Life cards, this Character gains Rush. What I like about Ace is that we are already being aggressive by spamming Shandian Warriors to the field, and if we play Ace after all the attacks, we might be able to break through your opponent's defences.

Events

There is one thing related with these Events and that is they are all Sky Island card which means we can search them out with our searchers. You see, as we are playing Characters for free, we could have some DONs spare, leaving us room to use these Events from our hand. The Earth Will Not Lose is our main Event as this card can also play Upper Yard for free from our hand. The counter effect is if your Leader is Shandian Warrior type, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power this battle. Then, play up to 1 Upper Yard from your hand. The trigger effect is draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. This effect can come in handy if we need the hand size.

El Thor is a card that works best if your opponent got low Life cards, as we really need all the defence we can get because of not running removals or Blockers. The counter effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 2k power this battle. Then, if your opponent has 2 or less Life, gains an additional 2k power this battle. So in total, we could gain 4k power altogether. The trigger effect is KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with cost equal to or less than the number of your opponent's Life cards. As we are being very aggressive with this build, this trigger effect might be pointless and you might want to save it for the counter effect.

Lastly, we've got Amaru, now Amaru can be swapped with Blaze Slice as Blaze Slice can be used during both counter step and main phase, but we can search Amaru if we need the effect. The main effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power this turn. Then, if you have 1 or less Life cards, rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. The main effect is mainly to go against Blockers, as Blockers can easily stop our attacks. However, you do need 1 or less Life cards to work which shouldn't be too difficult for Kalgara build. The trigger effect is you may trash 2 cards to add the top card of your deck to top of your Life cards. Personally, you need the hand for counters unless you've got non Counter cards you can trash.
