As you know, we've got a new support for Robin build in OP11 set, although it is only 1 card. The one problem I find with this deck is balancing trigger and non trigger cards, since if you have a hand of non triggers, we won't be able to trigger Robin's effect, and ramp is important for this build.
OP11 Robin |
---|
Leader Character (44) Event (6) |
How it Works?
I haven't added many new cards for this deck as most of the old cards still works fine with Robin, and running too many new cards mean losing out on the old stuff. I did try and run ST26 supports with this deck, but turns out, I am losing out on playing Yamato or Ace as we are only relying on Robin Leader for the ramp. But what I did focus is draw power, the more cards we can draw, the easier to trigger Robin's Leader effect and not losing out on the hand size.
Life Gain
Personally, Yamato and Ace is a must need for this build whilst Kiku is optional seeing how the effect is situational, but if you can pull off these Life gain, then we can make the game last longer. I am debating whether to replace Kiku for Zeus as the extra removal will always be handy. Kiku works on KO, if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. For the trigger effect, if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards, play this card. Of course, we will need to be lucky with the trigger effect if we want to get the extra body on the field.
OP04 Yamato works the best when you have 1 or less Life card, although you could play Yamato early if you want to KO a high cost Character. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with a cost equal or less than the total Life on both player's field. Then, if you have 1 or less Life, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life.
OP07 Ace doesn't really have a requirements in order to get Life gain, but if you can get to low health, we can make full use of Ace's effect. The effect works on play, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life. Then, if you have 2 or less Life, this Character gains Rush. Basically you will need 1 or less Life card to gain Rush. Rush will help you take out your opponent's big drop as soon as Ace hits the field instead of just getting the Life Gain ability.
Removals
The removals is the same as last time as they all have a main effect and a trigger effect which is useful for Robin's Leader effect. Although some of them will be a waste if we use them as a discard fodder. OP08 Nami works the best in these kind of builds where we are running a lot of triggers, and Nami can discard any trigger cards we won't be needing for the effect. The effect works on play, you may trash 1 card with trigger from your hand to KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. Then, if you have 3 or less cards in your hand, draw 1 card. We are constantly discarding our cards, so getting 3 or less cards in hand isn't difficult. The trigger effect is just activate this card's main effect.
OP07 Luffy will require low health like the Life gain cards in order to trigger the effect. The effect is an activate main effect. You may trash this card, if you have 2 or less Life, KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. Then, draw 1 card. What I do like about Luffy is that we can attack with him first, then use the effect so we won't be losing out on anything. The trigger effect is basically like the main effect but without the draw power. KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters.
OP09 Robin will work the best for this deck, especially when our Leader constantly have Banish keyword, so your opponents will definitely lose that Life card if they don't stop our Leader's attacks. The effect works on play, if your opponent has 3 or more Life cards, trash the top card of your opponent's Life. What's more if we can't use the effect, we can use Robin as a discard fodder instead of paying 6 DONs for technically a vanilla by then. The trigger effect is play one 3 cost or less yellow Character from your hand. If we play Olvia, Robin Leader can become a 7k base Leader during your opponent's turn.
Trigger Characters
The cards mainly in the deck for their trigger effect, although Onami's main effect will also be very useful. OP06 Onami works on play, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains Banish for this turn. Obviously, we will give the Banish keyword to our Characters, since our Leader have the permanent Banish keyword. This will also means if your opponents don't stop your attacks, we swipe your opponent's Life cards easily, so they will not gain anything. The trigger effect is KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. This effect is always useful to clear your opponent's board.
OP04 Bege is a vanilla with a 2k counter. The trigger effect is your opponent's Leader or 1 of their Characters cannot attack during this turn. If we are lucky, we can stop your opponent's attacks as hopefully play our high cost Characters. Otherwise, we would have to use Bege for 2k counter, unless you need to use him as a discard fodder.
Another 2k counter vanilla is OP07 Franky. Unlike Bege, Franky still has a 5k beat stick if we hard play him to the field, but of course, if we can play him using the trigger effect, it would be a lot easier. The trigger effect is draw 1 card. Then, if you have 1 or less Life, play this card. The nice thing about this effect is that we can still draw a card even if we don't have 1 or less Life.
Ohara Supports
There's not a lot of Ohara supports even though these cards only work with Robin Leader. Olvia is mainly to power up Robin, so we can hit more power, but the trigger effect can also be handy. The main effect works on play, 1 of your Robin Leader gains 3k power for this turn. This would mean we won't be needing multiple DONs just to hit certain numbers. The trigger effect is if your Leader is Robin, draw 3 cards and trash 2 cards. You only gain 1 card, but at least it is better than 0.
OP09 Saul is a Blocker, but a Blocker with 5k power which is not bad for a 3 drop. We do sacrifice counters, so you may have to use Saul as a discard fodder. The trigger effect is if your Leader is Robin, play this card. Well at least if we can get Saul in the Life area, we would be able to play him for free.
OP11 Saul is the only new card in the set, but the effect is definitely useful for a deck who mainly discard cards from hand. The effect works on play, if your Leader is Robin and you have 7 or more DONs, draw 2 cards. 7 DONs shouldn't be difficult to do considering Saul already cost 6 to play. The trigger effect is activate this card's on play effect, giving us more draw power if we needed.
Events
This time around I have changed the Events a little, instead of running all having trigger effects, only 1 of them will have the trigger effect, whilst the other is mainly for the draw power. One Who Should Disappear is an Event Counter. Now for this build, we have 3 options for this card. Either use this as a discard fodder for Robin's effect, aim for the trigger effect or use the counter effect. All these options will be very handy and it really depends on what you have got in your hand. The counter effect is the same as any other colours. You may trash 1 card from your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power for this battle. The trigger effect is if you have 0 Life cards, you may add the top card of your deck to top of your Life. Then, trash 1 card from your hand.
Giant is useful since our Leader is still a SH and not Ohara even though the Ohara supports support Robin Leader. Giant is still one of the best Event cards to use and the counter effect is by returning 2 DONs, you may trash 1 card from your hand, if your Leader is SH, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 4k power. Then, draw 2 cards. Personally, we won't lose much DONs because we've got the ramp in this deck, and especially when you are already at 10 DONs. So this card is very handy in getting the cards we need.
