LM Red/Purple (EmperorGreymon) Deck Profile

I will post Susanoomon build later as I've decided to make EmperorGreymon build with a splash of purple. This is the reason why I didn't write Hybrid as the title. I was playing with EmperorGreymon build as I do like this Digimon over AncientGreymon, plus it is cheaper to build as you won't need any Secret Rare like AncientGreymon. Just like my previous builds, I've only added 1 new card from the LM set, although BT18 set is relatively new as Digimon is pushing for simultaneous release.

LM EmperorGreymon

How it Works?

This build actually has purple cards and not because of the red hybrid cards who also got purple as their second colour. The build is very straightforward, and like all Hybrid builds, we rely on Tamers for the deck to work instead of digivolving the Digimon the normal way. With 11 Tamers in the build, your chances of seeing 1 Tamer is very high, especially with the rookies who are all searchers. Without Tamers, the deck just doesn't work.

But this build is very different from a normal red hybrid build as we can cheat out both EmperorGreymon using Takuya Tamers. Although BT7 Takuya lets you play any EmperorGreymon from your hand, whilst Takuya & Koji is mainly set up for BT18 EmperorGreymon. I would rather play BT12 EmperorGreymon over BT18 version, which is why I am running a low number of BT18 version. Of course, if you don't see BT12 EmperorGreymon in your hand, then we can play BT18 EmperorGreymon as back up option. We also want to set up the trash which is the reason why I've decided to mix some purple Hybrid for this build, the more hybrid in your trash the better.

The Megas

The Mega of the deck, EmperorGreymon is not the only Digimon I am running as I am also running BoB as the extra gimmick. BT12 EmperorGreymon has Security Attack +1 with 2 effects. The first effect works when digivolving, delete 1 of your opponent's 6k DP or less Digimon. If this Digimon has a Tamer card in the digi source, delete 1 of opponent's Digimon with DP equal or less than this Digimon's DP instead. So the more power we can give to EmperorGreymon, the higher the DP we can choose. The second effect is an on deletion effect where you can play 1 Takuya from your trash or hand. If you choose BT7 Takuya, we could play another EmperorGreymon from hand during the next turn.

BT18 EmperorGreymon can digivolve on top of Takuya with 5 Hybrid trait for 5 memory. This is possible thanks to Takuya & Koji Tamer who can grab Hybrid trait Digimon from the trash. More explanation will be in Tamer section. BT18 EmperorGreymon have 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, for each colour in this Digimon's digi source, trash any 1 digi source from your opponent's Digimon and suspend 1 of your opponent's Digimon. Then, this Digimon may attack. The second part of the effect is very useful in case we pass the memory to our opponent's turn, because 5 is a lot of memory we are giving away. The second effect is when this Digimon deletes your opponent's Digimon in battle, it gains Security Attack +1 and unsuspend this Digimon. So unlike BT12 version, we could potentially do 2 attacks whilst clearing your opponent's board, which is very handy to have indead.

BoB Ace can be hard play for 8, and also works very well in these kind of decks who focus on Tamers. We can ignore the digivolution as we are not running Agumon. We've got Blast Digivolve with 2 effects. The first effect works on play or when digivolving, delete any number of your opponent's Digimon who total DPs add up to equal or less than this Digimon's DP. So similar to BT12 EmperorGreymon, we could clear some board, especially if you can trigger the power up. The second effect works when attacking, if you have a Tamer, trash the top card of your opponent's security stack. This is very useful as we could potentially remove any security effects if we are lucky enough.

Tamers

The key part of the deck are the Tamers. The more Tamers you can get on the field, the easier we could digivolve on top with the Hybrid cards. BT18 Koichi have 2 effects, the first effect is a security effect where you can play this card without paying the cost. The second effect works at the start of your main phase, by trashing 1 Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait in your hand, gain 1 memory. This effect is really useful, especially when we want to set up the trash. The inherited effect works when attacking, you may return 1 Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait from your trash to hand. Personally, I use this effect to get Ancient Guardian Deity from the trash and use the effect again to play another Tamer on the field whilst also getting a Hybrid from the trash.

BT7 Takuya is one of the key Tamer we most have on the field and just like BT18 Koichi, we've got 2 effects. The first effect is a security effect where you can play this card without paying the cost. The second effect is by placing 5 Hybrid trait under this Tamer in any order, you may digivolve into EmperorGreymon in your hand for its digivolution cost as if this card is a Lv5 Digimon. This would mean we don't need to digivolve all the way up and can cheat EmperorGreymon once we've got 5 Hybrid in the trash. The inherited effect is this Digimon gains 2k DP. While this Digimon has 10k DP or more, gain Security Attack +1. This will allow EmperorGreymon to swing for 3 security check in total wiping out your opponent's security in one go.

Takuya & Koji is a 5 cost Tamer, but it is another Tamer that helps you play BT18 EmperorGreymon if you don't have BT7 Takuya on the field. There are 3 effects with the first effect being a security effect, you can play this card without paying the cost. The second effect is a memory setter with the final effect works your the start of your main phase, you may place 1 Hybrid trait with different card names from your trash under this Tamer. For each of your other Tamer, add 2 the maximum number you can play. Unfortunately, I am not running a lot of variety in this build, but as long as you can get 5, you will be all set up for BT18 EmperorGreymon's digivolve cost. What I mainly do is use Koichi's effect to get Hybrid in the trash then use Takuya & Koji to get the Hybrid under this Tamer. The inherited effect works at the end of your turn, this Digimon with Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait may attack a play. This is just in case you pass your memory to your opponent's turn and can grant like a Blitz effect for EmperorGreymon.

Ancient Guardian Deity is one of our key card, especially when we have multiple Tamers in our hand. This card can be played from your hand ignoring the colour requirements if you have a Tamer or a Digimon with Hybrid trait. The effect is you may return 1 Digimon with Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait from your trash to your hand. Then, you may play 1 Digimon with Ten Warriors trait or 1 Tamer with inherited effect from your hand with the play cost reduced by 4. Basically instead of hard playing those Tamers, they will only cost 2 to play with the except of Takuya & Koji who will be reduced to 1, making it cost 3 memory in total. The security effect is you may play 1 Tamer with an inherited effect from your hand or trash without paying the cost. Then, add this card to your hand. The security effect let us play any Tamer for free without worrying about costs which is very helpful, especially playing those Tamers from the trash.

Searchers

To get Tamers into our hand, we will need to rely on searchers, and all of these searchers are rookies, that is the role they play in this build. BT17 Flamemon works on play, reveal top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card with Hybrid or Ten Warriors and 1 Tamer with an inherited effect. Return the rest to the bottom of your deck. What I like about Flamemon is that there are no colour restrictions, so we can search for any cards we want as long as it fit the description. The inherited effect works on deletion, you may play 1 Tamer with inherited effect from your hand without paying the cost. Not the best inherited effect, but what I mainly aiming is the main effect.

Thanks to BT18 Bokomon, we don't need to run the BT7 version who's a generic card that works for any Hybrid build whereas BT18 version only works with red Hybrid. Bokomon have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, reveal top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card with Hybrid or Ten Warriors and 1 red Tamer with an inherited effect. Return the rest to the bottom of your deck. This is similar to BT17 Flamemon with the only difference is that we can only add red Tamers instead. It might be a problem especially if you see Koichi with this effect. The second effect is when any of your Digimon or Tamers digivolve into a Digimon with Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait, gain 1 memory. This effect is actually better than BT7 version as I think BT7 version only works with you digivolve on top of Tamer, whilst BT18 version works with Digimon as well.

Ukkomon is still needed in this build, and if it does get limited or ban, I still have back up plans for the rookies, and this deck got so many cards we can choose from. The main effect is when one of your Digimon moves from the breeding area to the battle area, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 Digimon or Tamer among them to the hand. Return the rest to the bottom of the deck, then you may hatch an egg in your breeding area. I am only running 4 egg, but you can run more if you want to push more Digimon to the field. The 1 cost to digivolve is definitely worth it if we can pull off the search effect.

Purple Hybrids

The 2 purple Hybrid and I personally think their effects are very handy for this build which is why I am running them in the deck. Duskmon can be digivolve on top of Koichi for 2 or Velgrmon for 1. There are 2 effects, the first effect works on play or when digivolving, change 1 of your opponent's Digimon or Tamers into a colour other than white until the end of your opponent's turn. Personally, I think changing your opponent's Digimon colour will be useless if they use trait to digivolve on top, but we can change the Tamers colour if it makes a difference from activating a Option card. The second effect works when attacking, 1 of your Digimon or Tamers may digivolve into a Lv4 Hybrid trait in your trash with the digivolution cost reduce by 1. This is not a bad effect as we could push more Hybrid to the field. The inherited effect works on deletion, you may play 1 Tamer with a cost of 4 or less from your from your trash without paying the cost. This is similar to Flamemon but instead of from hand, we can choose the trash instead which is very handy if we are going all out in this build.

Velgrmon is our key card, although we do want to digivolve on top of Duskmon if we want to get more Hybrid into the trash and making the full use of the effect. You can digivolve on top of Koichi for 3 or Duskmon for 1 memory. There are 2 effects with the first effect works on play or when digivolving. For each colour among your opponent's Digimon and Tamers, trash the top card of both player's deck. Then, this Digimon gains 1k DP for each card trashed by this effect. This is where Duskmon changing colours kicks in, the more colour they've got, the more cards we can mill and have a deadly beatstick. The second effect works at the end of attack, by deleting 1 Lv4 or lower purple Digimon, delete all of your opponent's Digimon with the lowest level. I find this effect very deadly, especially if your opponents only got 1 Digimon on the field, so this can act as a deadly removal. The inherited effect is just retaliation.

Red Hybrids

For the red Hybrids, we have the obvious choices as I personally think they are standard for this EmperorGreymon build. AncientGreymon will also run the other Agunimon. BT17 BurningGreymon can be digivolve on top of Takuya for 2 or Agunimon for 1. We have Raid and a when attacking effect, this Digimon may digivolve into a Hybrid trait from your hand with the digivolution cost reduced by 1. Thanks to this effect, we could technically play our purple Hybrid for 2 as BurningGreymon also have purple as the colour. The inherited effect is this Digimon gains 2k DP.

BT18 Agunimon is not very good if we can't get Hybrid in the trash, but if we can then the effect will be very handy. You can digivolve on top of Takuya for 2 or BurningGreymon for 0. Then, we have a when digivolving effect where you can return 1 Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait or Tamer with an inherited effect from your trash to your hand. This could help to bring back EmperorGreymon, so we can digivolve on top of Takuya Tamers. The inherited effect is the exact same as BurningGreymon where this Digimon gains 2k DP. So if you have these 2 stack, your Digimon could gain 4k DP in one go.

BT7 Aldamon is mainly use for attacking if we could digivolve on top of one of the red Hybrid. You can reduce the digivolution cost if your Digimon has a Tamer card digivolve into this card, the cost is reduced by 1. If we combined this with BurningGreymon's effect, we could digivolve into Aldamon for free. The effect works when digivolving, if a Hybrid trait is in this Digimon digi's source, this Digimon gains 4k DP. 4k DP is a lot and works very well with BurningGreymon's Raid ability taking out your opponent's Digimon. The inherited effect is whilst this Digimon has the Hybrid or Ten Warriors trait, it doesn't activate Security effects on Option cards it checks. This inherited effect is very handy especially when EmperorGreymon could possibly do 3 security checks in one turn. We wouldn't need to worry about Option cards then.
