[One Piece Card Information Bureau] OP13 Carrying On His Will Unboxing Video

 

Looks like OP13 is released in JP, and the EN will release theirs in November. I know the set name has changed, it is still similar, but I like "Inherited Will" instead of "Carrying On His Will". Anyway, as you know, since this is an unboxing video we will have a sneak peek of the cards before they are released in EN. Of course, some of the cards in this video will have already been leaked via other sources or revealed from the social media pages.

There are some interesting cards in this set, so I can't wait to try them. As always, I will try to get the translation as close as possible, but recently, I have been posting Digimon decks, and they have different wording, so this might be wrong compare to the official translation. I will also ignore any vanillas they have revealed in this video as they don't do anything, so it will be hard to talk about those cards.

It actually took them a while to get the Celestial Dragons support going, then again, I think it was in the early stages of the manga when we saw the Five Elders when sets got revealed. But now, they have plenty of materials to change them into the cards. Anyway, the effect is okay, but at least we can recycle Stage cards if we have low health. 3 or less shouldn't be hard to do in this game unless Imu starts with 6 Life.

As soon as I've read the effect, all I am thinking was this event is perfect for Hancock build until rotation kicks in. This would easily trigger the draw power, and only cost 4 to play. Not to mention the trigger effect lets you draw, giving you the extra draw power if you have low hand size with the Hancock build. Although, it would be a fight for space since Red Roc and Gravity Blade are also very good cards to use, but this one is cheaper to use than those 2 Events.

I don't get this Event considering we don't have many 7 drop Stage cards in the builds. In fact, I think there's one 7 drop Stage and it is in this set. But the counter effect is very good even if we can't use the main effect. I guess this might be future proofing, and we would get more high cost stage cards for this card to really work. Otherwise, I can only see this for the counter effect.


Yamato

[On Play] If you have 3 or less Life cards, draw 2 cards. Then, give up to 1 rested DON!! card to your Leader.

This is not bad, there are plenty of Leaders who can make use of this card until the rotation kicks in, then, we would have a limit choices of Leader to choose from. I'll take this, not only we can draw cards if we have low health, but we can also attach rested DONs to your Leader. But I think there could be a lot of blue decks who could run this card for the draw power, unless I am overrating this card like EB02 Vivi. Well, OPCG is unpredictable with the cards, they could be amazing, but in reality, there are other cards that can work a lot better.


Koala

More RA support for Koala build in OP12 set. To be honest, I haven't tried the deck yet, so I don't know if this card would be good or not, or we have enough RA cards for the deck. Although, I'm pretty sure we don't have many black RA cards, so having Koala in the build might make a difference, since this is another Character that can become 8 cost, instead of playing 8 cost or more Characters.


Crocus

I think this is okay, at least Crocus is a Roger Pirates Character so the effect won't get negated and we also have ramp, allowing us to play out high cost Characters a lot easier. The only downside is the when attacking effect since 3k power or less is not a lot, and you really don't want to let your opponents to spam search effects again.

We finally got 1 of the 5 Elders effect revealed. I haven't seen Imu's effect, but I assume we will need to use some mill cards, although 7 cards in trash is not a lot, and very easy to do. I wonder if we would get their transformation as one of the cards. The effect is okay, too bad the effect wouldn't work with cost reducers even though the colour is black. Although 5 cost is still a decent number as we could target most key cards in our opponent's decks.

Looks like we have one of the Garp's move here, although we can use this in any builds we like. Maybe Koby build since that -5k power is a lot, and we could use our small removal to remove that Character. Well, I guess we could also use this in Shanks build as Shanks can also make use of that -5k power. I could see this being used, but I might be wrong since my guesses are usually wrong, and these cards are overhype cards.

Looking at the type, I instantly thought that this could go in the Bonney build along with Carrot's effect, stopping your opponent's attacks or Blockers. Well, I know Bonney will become even more annoying to play against with these cards stopping you from what you can do, as well as the support from OP12 set. I know Bonney is a deck that won't get hit by the ban list as it is good deck, but not OP like the main meta decks that uses certain cards that makes them OP.

More ramp for the Roger deck, and I will certainly take it even though the effect can only target 1 cost or less Characters. This is just like Crocus where we are mainly running these cards for the ramp mainly. I doubt we could trigger these effects without cost reducers.

The effect is okay, not good as we can only KO 3 cost or less Characters and cost reducers won't help. But since we can trash cards from our hand, we can set up the trash for the 5 Elders effects who can make use of the number of cards in trash. But I guess it will depends on the amount of room in the deck since there should be plenty of cards we could use over this.

A bit late for Water 7 support as Iceburg will be out of rotation next year, but at least it is still better than none. Anyway, I don't know about this effect since we will be running maximum Stage card, and not many decks can remove Stage card, so this effect could be pretty useless and will be a waste if we make up the room for Tom.


Otama

Blue Character (OP13-043)

[On Play] If you have 3 or less Life cards, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. 

Another card like Yamato, but we do have to discard a card, so it will only be +1 in your hand instead of Yamato's +2. I guess the only difference will be that 2k counter. Although, if you run this in a multicoloured deck, then it won't be difficult to trigger the effect as you only need to get hit once, and you will be able to trigger both of these cards, unless somehow you start with 5 Life for a multicoloured Leader.


Gum-Gum Snake Shot

Fish-Man Island / Supernovas / Straw Hat Crew

[Counter] KO up to 1 of your opponent’s rested Characters with a cost of 4 or less.

[Trigger] Activate this card’s [Counter] effect.

This is not bad as we can KO your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters as long as they are rested. Plus, it is a Fishman Island card, so those builds would definitely help if they run this card as those builds lacks removal. Although, since this is also a SN card, you could also run this in Bonney's deck, but the room might be a bit difficult to fit this card.


Portgas.D.Ace

[On Play] Give up to 1 rested DON!! to your Leader. Then, return up to 1 of your opponent's Character with a cost of 5 or less to the owner’s hand. If you do, your opponent may play up to 1 Character with a cost of 4 or less from their hand.

The other SEC card from OP13 set, although I don't know about the effect. The effect just let your opponent replace cards and could trigger their on play's effect to affect your plays. This could be the one downside of this card rather than being a plus with the Rush ability. Well, I could give this a try, maybe it is more decent since he is a WB Pirates card.


The World's Equilibrium cannot be Maintained Forever

Black Event (OP13-097)

[Main] You may rest 5 of your DON!! cards: If you only have {Celestial Dragons} type Characters on the field, KO up to 1 of your opponent's Characters with base cost of 6 or less. 

[Counter] Up to 1 of your Leader gains +3000 power during this battle.

This is okay, but Imu could make use of the 1 drop Counter. You would need to pay 6 DONs in total to KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. This is only good if you've got nothing else to spend this card on and need the removal. I guess I can see the main effect being used, at least definitely a lot better than Saint Rosward's effect.


Vista

Not bad, we have a Double Attack Vista with a protection effect. Of course that protection effect is only once per turn, otherwise, that would be too strong for this card. Although Double Attack won't last very long unless we are playing against decks with constant Life gain abilities.


Curiel

Personally, I am not sure about Curiel's effect simply because he is only 4k beat stick. Then again, both Ace and Marco has red colour as the other half, so we could run power reducers to make Curiel hit. We do get to attach a DON, so that might be handy. But there's also no counter on this card as well, so this could hurt our defence if we need to use counter cards. I guess I could run 2 in the build, but I wouldn't run anymore as it can become risky.


Nekomamushi

The effect is not that good, so I guess I will only keep this card for the 2k counter which is the only stand out point of this card. We need to have 8 DONs or more to only KO 3k power or less Characters which is not worth it if we can't use our power reducers. Which is why I will be running him for the 2k counter instead.


Nefeltari Vivi

More Alabasta support even though Vivi is also another deck that will be out of rotation next year. Luckily, you can also run Vivi in a SH deck as we can also search for SH cards. But of course, I do want more Alabasta support since there are too many SH cards already, and Alabasta builds definitely need some major upgrades to make the decks keep up with the latest builds.


Silvers Rayleigh

Rayleigh is very similar to OP07 Sanji as both cards have Rush and can rest your opponent's Characters. The only difference is that Rayleigh can also give you an active DON compare to Sanji who returns DONs to trigger Nika Luffy's effect. I definitely take this considering Roger build will be relying on these cards to work.


Vegapunk

I would have love to add Vegapunk in the Vegapunk deck, but looks like the effect is suited to Bonney build more than Vegapunk. Although, I am still not sure if I would want to run this in the build. He is a 1 drop Blocker, but in order to gain Blocker ability you need to attached 2 DONs.


Koby

Green Character (OP13-025)

I do like this card as it works in both FILM and Strike attribute builds. There are plenty of Strike attribute Leaders I think, but I don't know how many there are in green. I think this is great to use as we can untap DON as well as having a Blocker on the field to stop your opponent's attacks.


Douglas Bullet

If you have 8 or more DON!! cards on your field, this Character gains +2000 power.
[On Play] If your Leader has {Roger Pirates} in it's type, add up to 1 DON!! card from your DON!! deck and rest it.

This is not bad, but unfortunately even though this is a FILM card, the effect is suited more for Roger build. I will definitely take it since Roger will need as much ramp as possible so we can play our high costs as soon as possible to trigger their major effects as well as Roger Leader. Bullet might be a 4k beat stick, but once we reach 8 DONs, he can easily become a nice 6k beat stick for a 3 drop.


Edison

I guess I could run Edison in Vegapunk for the draw power as we need all the draw power we need, plus being a Scientist card means we could use EB02 Vegapunk to play him from the deck. Plus the 2k counter will be very useful for defence, especially for Vegapunk build where we need all the defence we can, or else starting with 2 Life won't be worth it.


Divine Departure

Looks like they decided to remake some of the 0 cost Events that will be out of rotation next year, and I will definitely take this for the build. We might have lost trigger effect, but at least we can use the main effect or the counter effect depending on the situation. -8k power is a lot especially only cost 5 to do, as you could KO any high power Characters easily with your beat sticks.


Portgas.D.Rouge

A card design for Ace builds, but that is not surprising since we finally got Ace's mother in the build. I guess it is the same set as the father in ironically. I guess this could be a spoiler, but Ace's parents have been revealed a long time ago, very long time ago, I can't even remember if its been 2 decades or a decade ago. But for people who only started watching or reading the series, then, they would know.


Oro Jackson

Purple Stage (OP13-078)

[Once Per Turn] When 1 of your Characters with {Roger Pirates} in its types is removed from the board by 1 of your opponent's effects, add up to 1 DON!! card from your DON!! deck and rest it.

Of course, we've got the Roger's ship, but unfortunately, this won't protect our Characters, only increase more ramp effect. I think I would add this card in the build considering there are a lot of removal effects in this game, unless somehow, you are playing against a deck that lacks removal cards in the build. Then, that would make this card pretty useless in the deck.


The Five Elders are Here!!!

Looks like setting up the trash will be very easy if we are running this searcher in the build. Pretty much the same effect as Navy and BB Pirates searcher where we mill the cards. This is definitely a lot better than discarding cards in our hand or using counters early to set up the trash, but we do have to rely on some of those if we want to hit 7 cards in trash.


Boa Marigold

Looks like OP13 will have a lot of supports for old decks, we even got one for Hancock build, unfortunately, Marigold can only play Hancock. Although, this is good since in Hancock build, we want to burn our hand as much as possible so we could get the draw power going when we start returning cards. However, running Marigold and Hancock will restrict us with the cards we want to use, and the current cards are decent enough.


Roronoa Zoro

Green Character (OP13-037)

I want to say this is good for FILM, but the one deck that would definitely benefit this effect is EB02 Luffy Leader. I am hoping the ban list would restrict that deck from what it can do, otherwise Zoro would just add that additional improvement to trigger EB02 Luffy's effect with ease. Not to mention, Zoro can also untap, so we can have a 5k beat stick on the field and won't need to worry about being an attack target.


Kouzuki Oden

A Blocker with ramp, I guess there are plenty of ramp cards for Roger build, so we shouldn't have problems on the ramp side when it comes to getting as much DONs as possible to break from the Roger restrictions. Plus Oden being a Blocker means we can stop an attack once we used the effect. I'll take it, and I also like the picture for this card, showing the true friendship.

[Main] Look at 5 cards from the top of your deck, reveal up to 1 {Supernova} type card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

[Trigger] Activate this card’s [Main] effect.

I think this would be important when Bonney is out of rotation for your SN searcher. For now, with the amount of room, I think it is pretty tight, although I think you can squeeze this card in Kid build as Kid would benefit from getting the right cards to the field.


If I Bowed Down to Power, What’s the Point in Living

Blue Event (OP13-057)

[Main] You may rest 1 of your DON!! cards: If you have 1 or less Life cards, your opponent cannot activate a card with <Blocker> when your Leader attacks this turn. 

[Counter] Up to 1 of your Leader gains +3000 during this battle.

A Diable Jambe card but also acts as a counter. Unfortunately, only works for your Leader and not for Characters, so the restrictions is pretty high. Plus, you also need to have 1 or less Life cards, although for WB Pirates build, that will be quite easy with the amount of cards that can add Life cards to your hand. Although, I won't know how effective is the main effect, only the counter effect would be pretty good.


Five Elders

Black Character (OP13-082)

10 Cost / 12000 Power (Slash Special)

Five Elders / Celestial Dragons

[Activate: Main] If your Leader is [Imu], you may rest 1 of your DON!! card and trash 1 card from your hand: Trash all of your Characters. Then, play up to 5 {Five Elders} type Character cards with 
different card names and 5000 power from your trash.

This is basically Judge but instead of having on play effect, it is activate main. The most obvious choice is to attack your opponents with this card before clearing your own board, otherwise we would lose a 12k beat stick. Shouldn't be too difficult to set up 5 different Elders from your trash.


Buggy

Purple Character (OP13-072)

[On play] If your Leader's type includes {Roger Pirates} and there is attached DON!! cards. Add up to 1 DON!! card from your DON!! deck and rest it. 

Another ramp card, but this time we have a 2k counter on this card. Personally, you can ramp up to 10 DONs with ease, so making some of these ramp cards end up being a vanilla in your hand, so you will have to use these cards for their counter power. Plus being a 2 drop means we do have an easy ramp.


Saint Jaygarcia Saturn

Black Character (OP13-080)

4 cost / 5000 Power (Special)

If you have 7 or more cards in your trash, this Character cannot be removed by your opponent's effects.
[On Play] Look at 5 cards from top of your deck, reveal up to 1 card with the {Five Elders} type and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

We have Saturn revealed, and he is just a simple searcher, but not any normal searcher as we get to search for Five Elders only. If you want to see your other Celestial Dragons cards, then your would have to rely on your Celestial Dragons searcher, but those cards will be able to search for Five Elders too.

[Activate: Main] You may rest this Stage and 3 of your DON!! cards: Play up to 1 black {Five Elders} type Character card with a cost equal to or less than the number of DON!! cards on your field from your hand.

We have our 7 drop Stage and what's more is that Imu can play this card from your deck, so we don't need to pay the full 7 cost, and will need to worry about getting enough DONs to play our 5 Elders from our hand. We do have to still pay 3 DONs, but it is still better than paying the full costs for our 5 Elders cards, so I'll take it.


Saint Shephard Ju Peter

Black Character (OP13-084)

7 cost / 5000 Power (Special)

Five Elders / Celestial Dragons

If you have 7 or more cards in your trash, this Character cannot be removed by your opponent's effects.
[Your turn] If you have 10 or more cards in your trash, give all of your {Five Elders} type Characters a base power of 7000.

Reading the effect is very strong, all you need is to have 10 cards in your trash, and the 5 Elders will be all 7k beat stick, definitely helpful for Peter who only has 5k base power for a 7 drop. But I guess the 2k counter would be the advantage of this card, so I'll take it.

Some of these Events have very long names, and if you have to read the full card name, that is a mouthful. I know these quotes are taken from the manga or anime, but I really wish they could have shorten the name. Anyway, the main effect is just a ramp effect whilst we have a counter effect. I guess you could think of this like an Event version of Buggy, since both of the cost will be pretty much the same to get the ramp effect.

Roger Pirates

[On Play] If your Leader's type includes {Roger Pirates}, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. Then, add up to 1 DON!! card from your DON!! deck and rest it. 

It looks like every Roger Pirates cards you play will have ramp effect, so there will be no excuse for not having enough ramp in the deck. Plus Gaban also have draw power to increase our hand size and not just ramp. On top of that, you also have a 7k beat stick for 6 which is quite strong in my opinion.


Lilith

[On Play] Look at 4 cards from the top of your deck; reveal up to 1 card with [Trigger] other than [Lilith] and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

What I like about this card is that this is not restricted to Egghead, so I can use this in P/Y Robin build where we also need trigger cards for the deck to work. I would rather use Lilith than Dereshi is Lilith only cost 1 to play, which is very good for our turn 1 play if we got no other cards to choose.


Saint Ethanbaron.V.Nusjuro

Black Character (OP13-080)

If you have 7 or more cards in your trash, this Character cannot be removed by your opponent's effects and gains <Rush>
[When Attacking] If you have 10 or more cards in your trash, give up to 1 of your opponents Characters -2000 power during this turn.

For me it is weird seeing power reducing in Black since Black usually have removal and effects to do with costs. I guess this could definitely help since 5 Elders are only 5k beat stick if you don't have Peter on the field to make their base power into 7k. But Nusjuro also has Rush, so this is good after we used 5 Elders effect to play these cards from trash so we could have an additional attack. 

No AA from the pulls but we do have a SEC, I guess it is disappointing in this time around. If we could see an AA and SEC, then it would be a good pull. I don't know if they removed it or not, unless Ace is also an AA, then that would make sense why there are no other AA in the set.
