BT22 Black/Red (Gaiomon) Deck Profile

To be honest, all we are missing are the cards from EX10 to make this deck really shine. This deck is different from WG or BWG build as instead of attacking, we will rely on defence to deal our opponents damage whilst also protecting our security. There are plenty of cards to pull this off, but of course, with EX10 stuff, we can complete this build. So at the moment, I'll be using some cards that will be substitute until EX10 arrives next month.

BT22 Gaiomon

How it Works?

As you can see, we will focus on a very defensive build, but we will still need to digivolve all the way to Gaiomon to make this deck work, which is why we have some important cards. Gaiomon promo is the key card of the deck, if we can get this card to the field, it will make everything a lot easier, especially when you are Blocking, triggering certain effects. Thanks to Gaiomon promo's effect, we can still trash your opponent's security without the need to attack, and avoiding any security effect that could affect our Digimon. The Tamers will play an important role to the build as they are mainly to power our Blockers, so even high DP Digimon will have trouble deleting our Digimon.

What I do like about this deck is that we have plenty of cards to play our Tamers for free, so you don't have to waste memory to play those Tamers. Of course, if you haven't got the cards or the requirements, then you will need to hard play the Tamers.

Gaiomon

For the megas, I am only using Gaiomon as the only line up. You can run other Greymon megas, but it could affect EX4 Gaiomon's effect who only work with Gaiomon. All of these Gaiomon are treated as Greymon, so our searchers can search these cards with ease. EX4 Gaiomon is only a support for the deck as the other 2 Gaiomon would work with the other effects. EX4 has 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with play cost of 13 or more. If no Digimon was deleted by this effect, trash the top card of your opponent's security stack. This effect is a win win situation, you either delete your opponent's Digimon or trash their Security. Of course, if we can trash your opponent's security, we won't need to worry about security effect. The second effect works at the end of your turn, if you have a Tamer in play, this Digimon may digivolve into a play cost of 13 or more Gaiomon in its name from your hand, ignoring the digivolve cost and without paying the cost. Luckily, the other 2 Gaiomon in this build cost 13 or more, only EX4 has a play cost of 12.

P-183 Gaiomon is the main Digimon we want on the field. We've got Reboot and Blocker, so this card can use as both attack and defending options. We also have 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, until the end of your opponent's turn, 1 of their Digimon gains, start of main phase, this Digimon attacks. Then, this Digimon may attack. The last part of the ability is just Blitz with the ability to force your opponent to attack so we can triger the second effect. The second effect works all turn, when attack targets change, trash the top card of your opponent's security. Thanks to P-183 version Blocker ability, we can easily trigger this during your opponent's turn, so it is a win win situation, even if we can't attack.

BT22 Gaiomon is just a support instead of being the main of the deck. Unlike the other 2 Gaiomon, we can digivolve on top of Lv5 Greymon for 4 instead of paying the full digivolve cost. We have Raid and Reboot, and part of this effect works really well with Raid. Just like the other 2 Gaiomon, we have 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, you may unsuspend 1 of your opponent's Digimon. Then, this Digimon may attack. Thanks to Raid, we could delete that Digimon, and we want to trigger Raid keyword for the second effect. The second effect works all turn, when attack targets change, this Digimon gains 5k DP and Piercing for the turn. Piercing is nice to have with Raid as we will still be doing damage whilst taking out your opponent's Digimon, plus the 5k extra bonus can make this Gaiomon swing up to 18k DP.

Free Play

What I mean with Free Play is that these Digimon can play Tamers from out hand for free instead of Digimon. It does save up memory and not wasting a turn to play a Tamer to the field. BT22 RizeGreymon can digivolve on top of Lv4 Greymon in its name for 3. We've got the Raid ability with a when digivolving effect. If you have 1 or less Tamers, you may play 1 red or black 4 cost or less or with CS trait from your hand without paying the cost. This is very good if we have low numbers of Tamers on the field as we could play extra for free. The inherited effect is just Security Attack +1, making our attacks deal more damage.

BT12 MetalGreymon can also digivolve on top of Lv4 Greymon in its name for 3 as well as having Raid ability like RizeGreymon. We have an effect that works all turn, when an attack target is switched, you may play 1 black or red Tamer from your hand without paying the memory cost. MetalGrey is the only card in this build that doesn't have restrictions, allowing us to play as much Tamers as possible on the field. The inherited effect is not as important in this build, but could help. The effect is while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in its name, it gains Piercing. If we don't have BT22 Gaiomon on the field, this inherited would be very good as we could reduce your opponent's Digimon whilst dealing damage to your opponent's security.

ST15 Greymon is pretty good as we want the inherited effect more than the main effect. You can digivolve on top of Agumon in its name for 2, and we have Blocker with a Security effect. The security effect is you may play 1 Agumon or Tai in its name from your hand or trash without paying the cost. The security effect is very luck base, so I wouldn't worry about this as long as we can get the inherited effect. The inherited effect works all turn, when an attack target is switched, gain 1 memory. This can be very good during your opponent's turn, as it could reduce the amount of memory your opponents could use.

Lastly, we have BT12 Greymon who can also digivolve on top of Agumon in its name for 2. We only got a when digivolving effect, and it is luck base if you've got that card in your hand or not. The effect is if you don't have a Tamer with Tai in its name in play, you may play 1 Tamer with Tai in its name without paying the cost. The inherited effect works all turn, while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in its name, it gets 1k DP. That 1k DP can be very useful, especially with Blocker, so we could take out your opponent's Digimon without losing our Digimon.

The Evolution Line

The rest of the evolution line for the build. BT17 Greymon might be white, however, both of our Lv5s can digivolve on top of this card, so there will be no drawback running this card in the build. Just like the 2 Greymon, you can digivolve on top of Agumon in its name for 2. We've got 3 different effects, the first effect works when digivolving, if this Digimon's name is Koromon, it gains 3k DP for the turn. Then, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with DP equal or less than this Digimon. This is a nice removal to have rather than relying on Raid, and in order to get Koromon as the name, we would need to rely on the second effect, as the second effect works all turns. This Digimon has all the name of Lv3 or less in the digi source. The final effect is an on deletion effect where you can play 1 Tai or Karl from your hand without paying the cost or hatch an egg in your breeding area. So even if you don't have any cards to digivolve on top, we can always trigger the on deletion effect. The inherited effect is the exact same as the deletion effect, you can play 1 Tai or Karl from your hand without paying the cost or hatch an egg in your breeding area.

ST15 Agumon has simple effect, so this won't be a long post. You can digivolve on top of Koromon for 0, so we don't need to worry about the digivolve requirements, especially the colours. The effect works at the start of your main phase, if your opponent has a Digimon, gain 1 memory. The extra memory might help, especially when digivolving all the way as much as possible. The inherited effect is the exact same as ST15 Greymon which is when an attack target is switched, gain 1 memory. So with 1 block, you could make your opponent lose 2 memory, or if you are using Raid, you could gain 2 memory if these 2 ST15 cards are in the digi source.

BT12 Agumon is just the searcher as searching for specific cards will make this deck work. Just like ST15 version, you can digivolve on top of Koromon for 0, so we don't need to worry about the colours or paying that 1 cost to digivolve. The effect works on play, reveal the top 4 cards of your deck, add 1 Greymon or Omnimon in their name and 1 Tai Tamer in their name among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. We can add 2 cards to our hand if we are lucky with the search effect. The inherited effect is the exact same as BT12 Greymon while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in its name, it gets 1k DP. This would allow to give our Digimon a bit more power for defence and attack.

X Antibody

I am not running the full X Antibody line up in this build as I want the inherited effect to work mainly with Gaiomon, and MetalGreyX or RizeGreyX just doesn't work. BT11 AguX can digivolve on top of Agumon for 0 and the effect works on play or when digivolving, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card with Greymon in its name or X Antibody and 1 black Tamer among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom in any order. Unlike BT12 Agumon, we can search for any Tamers which is what we mainly want for this effect, and you could get 2 cards in your hand if your are lucky enough. The inherited effect works all turns when this Digimon with Greymon or Omnimon in its name would be deleted or returned to your hand or deck, by placing 1 X Antibody from this Digimon's digi source, prevent this Digimon from leaving play. Obviously I am not running X Antibody in the build as this deck doesn't take advantage of X Antibody card, so we are mainly using AguX for the main effect.

I want to run BT11 GreyX as 4 if possible, but because of the ban list, I am only running 1. The main effect is very strong, so I can see why they decided to limit this card to 1. You can digivolve on top of Greymon for 0, and the effect works when this Digimon would digivolve into Greymon in their name, reduce the digivolution cost by 1 for each colour. This could make make our Lv5s to only digivolve for 1 as this card has Greymon in its name. The inherited effect is the exact same as AguX, so it is useless without X Antibody as I am mainly aiming for the main effect.

Options

The options cards are very straightforward for this build. Defense Training is a must have in the build as it is one of the card where we can possibly digivolve all the way to Gaiomon in one turn if we are lucky enough. The main effect is reveal the top 2 cards of your deck, add 1 black card among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, place this card in your battle area. This shouldn't be difficult to do as I am running mainly black cards except BT17 Greymon who is white. The second effect is a delay effect, 1 of your Digimon may digivolve into a black Digimon in your hand with the digivolution cost reduced by 2. The security effect is place this card to the battle area.

Trident Arm is one of the cards where we can force your opponents to attack so we can use promo Gaiomon to stop the attack and trigger a chain of effect. Otherwise, your opponents will just be building up the field ready to swing with their Digimon with one go, so we won't have enough Blockers to stop the attack. The effect is De-Digivolve 3 one of your opponent's Digimon. Then, 1 of your opponent's Digimon gains at the start of main phase, that Digimon must attack. De-Digivolving is great as we can weaken your opponent's attacks before we use our Blocker ability. The security effect is De-Digivolve 3 one of your opponent's Digimon, which is the same as the main effect, but doesn't force your opponent to attack.

Hades Force is still one of the best removal if you are playing a Greymon deck. Unfortunately, we won't be able to reduce the play cost, so you will need to pay the full 7 to use the card. The main effect is choose any number of your opponent's Digimon and/or Tamers whose combined play cost is equal or less than the play cost of 1 of your Digimon with Greymon in its name, and delete those cards. Then 1 of your Greymon in its name may attack a player. The best thing about this effect is that we can choose up to 13 play cost worth of cards to delete, and that is a lot of cards we can remove, unless they are high play cost. The security effect is delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with the highest play cost.

Tamers

There are some key Tamers we want to play on the field so we can get the power up when we block. Ideally, if you can get all these cards to the field, then it would be a great help. BT12 Tai has 2 effects, the first effect works at the start of your main phase or on play, 1 of your Digimon with Agumon or Greymon in their name gains 1k DP and Blocker. The second effect works when one of your Digimon digivolves into Greymon or Omnimon in their name, suspend this Tamer to gain 1 memory. This effect could help to digivolve into Gaiomon as soon as possible. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.

ST15 Tai is our memory setter, and a Tamer we do want to have on the field ready to set up Raid and Blocker abilities. The effect works all turn, when an attack target is switched, by suspending this Tamer, draw 1 card and 1 of your Digimon gains 2k DP for the turn. It will depend on how you would use your Digimon to use this effect as both abilities will be able to set up the effect very easily. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.

Lastly, we have Yuuko from BT22, and she has a similar effect to ST15 Tai but we gain more power. Yuuko has 3 different effect, the first effect is a security effect which is play this card without paying the cost. The second effect works at the start of your main phase, if your opponent has a Digimon, gain 1 memory which is the exact same as ST15 Agumon's main effect. The final effect work all turns, when attack targets change, by suspending this Tamer, your opponent's Digimon effects doesn't affect 1 of your Digimon with Greymon in its name or CS trait, and it gains 3k DP. Not only we gain power, but we can also protect our Digimon from your opponent's Digimon effect. If we combined this power bonus with ST15 Tai, then we could gain 5k DP in 1 turn. The inherited effect doesn't work in this build as I am not running Easter Eve.
