Last time we saw SR and SEC reveals for OP12 set, today, we've only got Events revealed, so this would be a short review. Do keep in mind, this is not every Events revealed from this set, only 1 from each colour, except yellow. The other Events have been already revealed if you have kept up with JP Twitter revealed.
Some of the Events here are okay, and some works with specific Leaders. Well I guess it make sense, since we are moving on to rotation, no point making old decks good with rotation around the corner. Although I would use other Events that have already been revealed.
Cards
"To Feel No Doubt" That is "True" Strength!!!
Red Event (OP12-016)
0 Cost
Former Roger Pirates
[Main]: You can give up to 2 active DON!! cards to your [Silvers Rayleigh]: When that card attacks during this turn, your opponent cannot activate [Blocker]
[Counter]: Up to 1 of your Character or [Silvers Rayleigh] cards gains +2000 power during this battle. We are getting more Events that can act as a counter card, but also can be used during the main phase. This one specifically only works with Rayleigh. Now, with this being a 0 cost, this is even more handy. You can use this with 8 drop Rayleigh, since that card is one of your beat stick, combined with active DONs, we can easily swing for 10k power with no Blockers allowed. I think this is very strong, but of course, only works specific with Rayleigh. |

Two-Sword Style Castle Gate
Green Event (OP12-038)
1 Cost
Straw Hat Crew
[Main] You may rest 2 of your DON!! cards: K.O. up to 2 rested Characters with a base cost of 4 or less.
[Counter] Your Leader gains +3000 power during this battle.
Rashomon has 2 translation either Draw Rashomon or Castle Gate, but I went with the game translation from Pirate Warriors 3. Anyway, I like this Event, but we can only KO 4 cost or less Characters, and this card won't work with cost reducers which is a shame. I guess they started to balance the cards more, and doing future proofing, so we won't have something that could break the game. The counter effect only powers up the Leader, so it is optional to run this in the build or not, but having the KO effect can be handy. |

Ice Block: Pheasant Peck
Blue Event (OP12-057)
1 Cost
Navy
[Counter]: Up to 1 of your Leader or Character cards gains +4000 during this battle. Then, trash 1 card from your hand.
[Trigger]: You may trash 1 card from your hand, draw 1 card.
Just like Rashomon, Pheasant Beak has 2 translation, the manga translation is Pheasant Peck whilst the eng dub anime is Pheasant Beak. For me, this doesn't matter as both will mean the same thing, all I care is the effect. We can gain instant 4k power but trashing 1 card from hand. Now this is important as some Leaders need low hand size to trigger their effects, and this Event solve that problem by reducing our hand size, so we can trigger those Leader's effects. |

Brochette Blow
Purple Event (OP12-078)
3 Cost
Straw Hat Crew
[Main]: If the number of DON!! cards on your field is equal or less than the number on your opponent’s field, draw 1 card. Then give up to 1 of your opponent’s Characters -3000 power during this turn.
More purple Straw Hat, although, this is better in a build where we can constant return DONs, so we can easily trigger this effect. Although, I'm not too sure what builds I can use this in, maybe in red/purple build where we can make use of that power reduction so we could KO certain Character. Well, you could go old school and run this card, so we can attack those rested Characters now that their power have been reduced. I guess that's another way we could make use of this card. |

Ursus Shock
Black Event (OP12-096)4 Cost
The Seven Warlords of the Sea / Revolutionary Army
[Main] K.O. up to 1 of your opponent's Characters with a cost of 4 or less. If you control an 8 cost Character, you may K.O. up to 1 of your opponent's Characters with a cost of 6 cost or less instead.
[Trigger] Draw 1 card. Then, trash 1 card from the top of your deck.
This is not a bad Event as we can make use of cost increase cards, or play 8 drop or higher to the field. Aside from the standard KO effect, as you can see, the trigger effect is interesting, especially for decks who needs certain amount of cards in your trash to work. This could work perfectly for those decks as we could set up the trash a lot earlier rather than later. |
