LM Red/Black (BlackWarGreymon X) Deck Profile

There's not much of an upgrade for BWGX deck as we want to keep the key cards to make this deck work. There has been a lot of Greymon stuff released for both WG and BWG, so we have too many choices to choose from to build this deck. Although for BWGX, I am mainly using the cards from BWGX deck, so not much of a change even if I added cards from the LM Set. I did have to reduce the numbers to fit the cards.

LM BWGX

How it Works?

As you can see, apart from Digiegg and Agumon, the rest of the build, I am not running maximum copies. This does feel like a YGO deck where I am running a lot of 1 of in the build, and only 1 of them have been hit by the ban list. Well, if you do want to make this deck, at least you won't need to worry about getting 4 of each. I want to run more, but we are limited to 50 cards, and I think this is how I've made the build.

Anyway, this deck focus on digivolving all the way up to BWGX, you do not need to digivolve on top of BWG as long as you've got X Antibody Option card. X Antibody plays a huge role in this build, especially triggering cards like Hades Force and BWGX effect. There are a lot of searching available, so I wouldn't worry about not drawing the levels, and you also have the draw power. Thanks to those 2 combine, you can easily deck out if you don't finish off your opponents when you active all those effects.

BWGX + His X Antibody Forms

BWG is very unique as we have 2 X Antibody forms for this Digimon instead of just 1. BT8 BWG has 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, if this Digimon's digi source has a red card, choose any number of your opponent's Digimon. If this Digimon's digi source has a black card, choose any number of your opponent's Tamers. Delete the chosen cards with the play cost add up to 6 or less. This is not hard to trigger both effects as there are some multicoloured Digimon in this build, and having a Tamer removal can be very handy. The second effect works all turns, once per turn, when an opponent's Digimon is deleted, unsuspend this Digimon. Now you could swing at your opponent's Digimon with BWG triggering the unsuspending, or we can give BWG Blocker ability, so we can stop up to 2 attacks.

BWGX is the main card of the deck. To be honest, the deck works better with BWGX than the other 2 Lv6s in the build. You can digivolve on top of BWG for 2, it has Reboot with 2 effects that works during your opponent turn. The first effect is when your opponent's Digimon with the highest DP attacks, you may switch the target to this Digimon instead. The downside is that we need to power up BWGX as much as possible in order to take out any high DP Digimon out there. The second effect is when a Digimon becomes unsuspended, if this Digimon has BWG or X Antibody in the digi source, you may delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with the lowest level. Combine this with Reboot, and we can easily delete your opponent's Digimon once per turn.

BT9 Gaiomon is the samurai form of BWG, and it is mainly just a 1 of in the deck as the effect is okay, but it is optional to play compare to BWGX. Just like BWGX we can digivolve on top of BWG for 2, we've got Reboot and Security Attack +1 with a when digivolving effect. The effect is if this Digimon's digi source has a black card, De-Digivolve 1 on 1 of your opponent's Digimon. If this Digimon's digi source has a red card, this Digimon gains Blitz. So just like BWG, thanks to the multicoloured in the deck, we can easily trigger both options at the same time. Also for some reason Gaiomon can also be treated as Greymon for the rules. I have no idea why, but looks like they've decided to treat Gaiomon as Greymon. I guess, it makes searching a lot easier.

X Antibody Forms

For the X Antibody Forms, I am running 4 of these. It would be 3 if BT11 Greymon X wasn't limited, but Bandai realised they made that card too OP for multicolour Greymon builds. Anyway, MetalGreymon X can be digivolve on top of MetalGreymon for 1 with a when digivolving effect. The effect is this Digimon's DP can't be reduced by your opponent's effects and can't be De-Digivolve until the end of your opponent's turn. Then, if you have MetalGreymon or X Antibody in the digi source, delete 1 of your opponent's 6k DP or less Digimon. The main effect is not bad as it helps to protect against certain decks, but there are ways to get around this effect. The inherited effect works during your opponent's turn. When a Digimon becomes unsuspended, if this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in its name, trash the top card of your opponent's security stack. Thanks to this effect, it makes combining with BWGX more deadly as we can constantly trash your opponent's security whilst deleting your opponent's Digimon.

BT11 Greymon X is very strong and the main reason why this card is limited is the main effect. You can digivolve on top of Greymon for 0. The main effect is when this Digimon would digivolve into Greymon in their name, reduce the digivolution cost by 1 for each colour. Thanks to this effect, it makes digivolving in multi coloured a lot easier, especially combining with our Training cards, letting us digivolving for free, no wonder this card got limited, and I doubt, we will see this unlimited. The inherited effect works all turn, when this Digimon with Greymon or Omnimon in their name would be deleted or returned to your hand or deck by an effect. By placing 1 X Antibody from this Digimon's digi source to the bottom of the deck, prevent this Digimon from leaving play. This inherited is also very strong, especially if X Antibody is in the digi source as we could protect our Digimon.

BT9 Greymon X is just a vanilla and can be digivolve on top of Greymon for 0. The inherited effect is similar to BT11 version, but personally not as good. The inherited effect works all turn, when this Digimon with Greymon or Omnimon in their name would be deleted or returned to your hand or deck by an effect, you may trash 2 cards with the same level in this Digimon's digi source to prevent this Digimon from leaving play. Unfortunately, we do rely heavily on the inherited effects if it cards like MetalGreymon X, but I guess for other it depends what kind of inherited effect we would lose.

What I like about Agumon X is that we can also hard play this Digimon to trigger the effect rather than waiting to digivolve on top of their normal form. You can digivolve on top of Agumon for 0, then the main effect works on play or when digivolving, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 X Antibody card and 1 card with Greymon or Omnimon in their name to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This is not a bad searcher especially if you need X Antibody or Greymon Digimon in your hand.

X Antibody + Supports

X Antibody is our key card in order to make this deck work as we have a lot of cards who rely on X Antibody to trigger their effects. You can run Proto Form, but Proto Form doesn't work as well as the original X Antibody. You can play this card ignoring colour requirements if you have a Digimon in play. The security effect is gain 1 memory and add this card to your hand. The main effect is place this card under 1 of your Digimon without X Antibody in its digi source as its bottom digi source card. Then, we have 2 inherited effect, the first inherited effect is effect can't trash X Antibody in this Digimon's digi source. This is very useful if your opponents can trash bottom digi source as this will shut their effect down. The second effect works when attacking, this Digimon can digivolve into a Digimon with X Antibody trait in your hand by paying the digivolution cost. BWGX cost 5 to digivolve, and by the time you pay 5 memory, it would be your opponent's turn, so what we want is to attack with our Digimon, use X Antibody's effect to digivolve into BWGX triggering any unsuspending effects. It is a win win situation, which is why I prefer this card over Proto Form.

Hades Force is a strong removal as this deck needs to digivolve all the way up to BWGX to work, and most decks these days are very aggressive. You can play this card for 5 if you have a Digimon with X Antibody in its digi source. This is better than paying the full 7. The main effect is choose any number of your opponent's Digimon and/or Tamers whose combined play cost is equal or less than the play cost of 1 of your Digimon with Greymon in its name, and delete those cards. Then 1 of your Greymon in its name may attack a player. The best thing about this effect is that we can choose up to 13 play cost worth of cards to delete, and that is a lot of cards we can remove, unless they are high play cost. Not only that, paying 5 or 7 will most likely be your opponent's turn, so we could do an extra attack. The security effect is delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with the highest play cost.

The Evolution Line

For the evolution line, it is pretty standard. I haven't included everything, as I don't want to all group up into 1 section. BT12 Agumon can digivolve on top of Koromon for 0, so you don't need to pay the 1 or run black Digieggs. The effect works on play, reveal the top 4 cards of your deck, add 1 Greymon or Omnimon in their name and 1 Tai Tamer in their name among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Searching for Tai will be very handy as we need Tai to give Blocker ability to our Digimon. The inherited effect works all turn, while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in their name, it gains 1k DP. The 1k extra DP will be very useful, especially when you want to trigger BWGX's effect.

BT14 Agumon can also digivolve on top of Koromon for 0, but this doesn't matter as much since our Koromon is red anyway. The effect works at the start of your main phase, if you have a Tamer with Tai, this Digimon may digivolve into Greymon in your hand without paying the cost. This is very useful, especially if you don't care about Agumon X as we could digivolve into MetalGreymon a lot easier. The inherited effect is while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in their name, it gains 2k DP. Too bad the power bonus only works during our turn, or otherwise, it would be very handy.

BT5 Greymon is a very old card, hence BT5 set, but being old, the effect is still very handy. The main effect works when digivolving, if this Digimon has Agumon in it's digi source, gain 1 memory. If we combined this with BT14 Agumon, we could gain a memory as Agumon will digivolve into this for free. The inherited effect is the same as BT14 Agumon, but the text is written in the old era, whilst the new era, they have shorten down the text. The inherited effect is while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in their name, it gains 2k DP. Although Agumon might be able to digivolve into BurningGreymon.

BT12 Greymon can digivolve on top of Agumon in the name for 2 instead of digivolving over a black digimon for 3. We've only got when digivolving effect, and it can be hit and miss. The effect is if you don't have a Tamer with Tai in its name in play, you may 1 Tai Tamer from your hand without paying the cost. The problem is that this effect is useless if we've already got Tai in play, and will be no more than a vanilla effect. The inherited effect is exact same as BT12 Agumon, while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in their name, it gains 1k DP. So if you can stack these 2 together for BWGX's effect, then we would have a decent 15k base Digimon ready to take down most Digimon.

Lastly, BT8 MetalGreymon, unfortunately, we don't have alternative digivolve cost like the Greymon and BT11 Greymon X is limited, meaning we would have to pay 4 to digivolve. The effect works when digivolving, De-Digivolve 1 on 1 of your opponent's Digimon. Then, delete 1 of your opponent's 3k DP or less Digimon. At least we can remove some Lv3s that may affect this deck. The inherited effect is while this Digimon has Dragonkin or Machine trait, it can also attack your opponent's unsuspended Digimon. This is pretty strong as it means none of your opponent's Digimon will be safe from your attacks, and we can reduce as much of your opponent's board as possible.

Removals

What I mainly want is the ability to reduce your opponent's board as this deck needs to digivolve all the way to BWGX in order to be effective. But these days a lot of decks can play cards for free, setting up a really aggressive field. BoB Ace can be hard play for 8 if you got nothing else to play with an alternative digivolve cost. You will need to have 2 or less security cards in order to digivolve on top of Agumon for 3, allowing us to cheat our digivolve if needed. We've got Blast Digivolve with 2 effects. The first effect works on play or when digivolving, delete any number of your opponent's Digimon who total DPs add up to equal or less than this Digimon's DP. Unfortunately, we don't have anything who can power up Agumon aside from Tai Tamer. The second effect works when attacking, if you have a Tamer, trash the top card of your opponent's security stack. More trashing the security, so we don't need to attack with a lot of Digimon.

Personally, promo Alterous Mode can be replaced with BT12 MetalGreymon as BT12 MetalGreymon can digivolve on top of Greymon in their name for 3, and has effect that could also work in this build. You can digivolve on top of MetalGreymon for 0, this card is also treated as MetalGreymon, so we could digivolve into MetalGreymon X. The effect works when digivolving, if you have a Tamer in play, delete 1 of your opponent's 5k DP or less. The inherited effect is exactly the same as BT9 Greymon X. When this Digimon with Greymon or Omnimon in their name would be deleted or returned to your hand or deck by an effect, you may trash 2 cards with the same level in this Digimon's digi source to prevent this Digimon from leaving play. Nothing new here.

BT17 Greymon is the only white Digimon, and unfortunately we need to rely on Greymon X to change the colour unless you are running BT12 MetalGreymon, if you want to digivolve on top of this Greymon. You can digivolve on top of Agumon for 2. We've got 3 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, if this Digimon's name is Koromon, it gains 3k DP for the turn. Then, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with DP equal or less than this Digimon. In order to get Koromon name, the second effect will help as this Digimon has all the name of your level 3 and less in this Digimon's digi source. The final effect is an on deletion effect where you can play 1 Tai or Karl from your hand without paying the cost or hatch an egg in your breeding area. So even if you don't have any cards to digivolve on top, we can always trigger the on deletion effect. The inherited effect is the exact same as the deletion effect, you can play 1 Tai or Karl from your hand without paying the cost or hatch an egg in your breeding area.

Option Cards

The Scramble cards isn't as important unless you want to target the multicoloured MetalGreymon or BWGX, but Memory Boost and Training cards are important for the deck. Red Scramble works like any other Scramble card, but specific for red. The main effect is 1 of your red Digimon may digivolve into a red Digimon from your hand with the reduced digivolution cost by 3. Then, place this card in your battle area. 3 would definitely be helpful as we do have high cost the higher the level we go. The delay effect works at the start of your turn and if your opponent has a Digimon, return 1 red Digimon from your trash to the top of your deck, then if you don't have a Digimon in play, you may play 1 red Digimon with 2k DP or less from your trash without paying the cost. This will allow us to bring back the rookies and 2 of them have on play effects, so they will help you search more cards.  The security effect is pretty much the same as the delay effect. You may play 1 red Digimon with 2k DP or less from your trash without paying the cost. Then, add this card to the hand.

Red Memory Boost is very helpful in this build as we need to search the right cards to make this deck work. The main effect is reveal the top 4 cards of your deck, add 1 red Digimon among them to your hand. Place the remaining cards at the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, place this card in your battle area. The only non red Digimon is BT17 Greymon, but being only 2 copies in the deck, your chances are pretty low unless you hit option and Tamer cards as well. The second effect is a Delay effect, gain 2 memory. The security effect is place this card to the battle area.

Offense Training is the main card, still does a better job than Red Scramble, not to mention we want the main effect. The main effect is reveal the top 2 cards of your deck, add 1 red card among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, place this card in your battle area. This will let us search for any red cards, although we are also running non red cards in this build as well. The second effect is a delay effect, 1 of your Digimon may digivolve into a red Digimon in your hand with the digivolution cost reduced by 2. 2 is still better than nothing as we don't want to give too much memory to your opponents to work with. The security effect is place this card to the battle area.

Tamers

The one only difference is that both of our Tai Tamers are black Tamers, so you will need to rely on BT12 Agumon to search them out. BT12 Tai has 2 effects, the first effect works at the start of your main phase or on play, 1 of your Digimon with Agumon or Greymon in their name gains 1k DP and Blocker. Both of these will be very useful, especially Blocker to stop your opponent attacks. The second effect works when one of your Digimon digivolves into Greymon or Omnimon in their name, suspend this Tamer to gain 1 memory. A nice ramp effect to reduce the digivolution cost of your Digimon, especially the higher levels. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.

ST15 Tai is a memory setter and also a main Tamer needed from a starter deck set. We do have an additional effect that works all turn, when an attack target is switched, by suspending this Tamer, draw 1 card and 1 of your Digimon gains 2k DP for the turn. This effect works really well with BWGX as if your opponent has high DP, we might be able to boost more power. Plus this effect also works with Blocker abilities thanks to BT12 Tai giving Blocker ability to your Digimon. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.
