OP11 Red/Black (Garp) Deck Profile

What I like about Garp is that the effect is not once per turn and we've got plenty of ways to attached DONs onto our cards to trigger Garp's effect. Although, EB02 did have a support for Garp, but what I was waiting for is the OP11 Navy support to add for this deck. Which is also why I held back posting this build, but you do not have to use OP11 support since Garp can work with other cards as long as we can trigger his effect.

OP11 Garp

How it Works?

To be honest, there are a lot of cards I want to use for this build, however the room is very tight unless I reduce the number of copies in the deck. You do not have to choose the Navy route as Garp will work with other cards, but I chosen the Navy route so we can search specific cards a lot easier. As you know, Garp's Leader effect is not once per turn, so as long as you can attach DONs to your cards, you can easily reduce your opponent's Characters cost by the number of DONs attached. This also means we do not have to run crazy amount of cost reducers to get certain Characters cost to low number so we could KO them.

Garp Leader can only target 7 cost or less Characters, but if we use our cost reducers to target your opponent's 8 cost or higher, then we can easily target 7 cost or less Characters. I've also added plenty of removals since we want to KO your opponent's Characters utilising Garp's Leader effect whilst also powering up your cards with DONs.

Cost Reducers

Personally, if you can get 10 drop Kuzan on the field, then use Garp's Leader effect will be so much easier, but the others can be additional support for the deck. I couldn't really find the right combination of cost reducers because of the Leader's effect where can use the cost reducing more than once. OP02 Tsuru is a nice 1 drop with 2k counter cost reducer. The effect works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 for this turn. This will be important in order to get 8 cost or higher down to 7 so we can use Garp to target certain high cost Characters.

OP02 Kuzan is mainly for the constant cost reducing as long as he stays on the field as well as having the draw power. Kuzan has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, draw 1 card. The second effect is the main effect we are after. The effect works when attacking, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 4 for this turn.

Lastly 10 drop Kuzan will make everything a lot easier, but you will need to make sure is that 10 drop Kuzan is a Former Navy card compare to the 4 drop version. This is important because of certain cards who only works with Navy. Anyway once you can get 10 drop Kuzan on the field, we won't have to worry about 8 cost or higher Characters on your opponent's field. Just like his 4 drop version, we've got 2 effects. The first effect works during your turn, reduce all of your opponent's Characters cost by 5. This will make everything a lot easier combining with Garp's Leader effect to get certain Characters to low cost. The second effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Character. This will only works against 5 cost or less Characters unless you've got another 10 drop Kuzan on the field.

Removals

What I like about some of these removals is that they have a constant effect rather than just on play effect. The best example with be EB01 Brook who can work on play or when attacking. The effect is reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 1 for this turn. Then, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Characters. Getting your opponent's Characters to 0 cost will have to rely on some of your cost reducers and Garp's Leader effect but it is not difficult to do.

OP02 Koby is a card where we can spam his on play effect in this build as we've got some cards who can play Koby from the trash and reuse the on play effect. The effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand to KO 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. 3 is a lot easier to do than Brook's 0 which is why I am running Koby in the deck.

EB01 TBone is mainly for the 2k counter, however if you need extra removals and beat stick on the field, then he is one of the best card to do this job. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. We can only target 2 cost or less Characters but shouldn't be too difficult if you can get the cost reducers going.

EB02 Garp is a great option for this deck as he can trigger the Leader's effect whilst also KOing your opponent's Characters. He is like Brook where we can constantly KO your opponent's Characters as long as Garp is on the field. Garp has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, attach 2 rested DONs to your Leader. This will be able to trigger our Leader's effect twice, reducing your opponent's Characters cost by 2. The second effect is an activate main effect, you may rest this Character, if your Leader is Garp, KO 1 of your opponent's 1 cost or less Characters. The downside of this effect is definitely losing out a 6k beat stick, but in return we can reduce your opponent's field.

Attaching DONs

In my opinion, if you can make use of rested DONs rather than active DONs, they will be a great help in trigger Garp's Leader effect. OP10 Monet is one of the best example when it comes to attaching DONs. The effect is an activate main effect, you may rest this Character to attach 2 rested DONs to your Leader or 1 of your Characters. Then, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters by 1k for this turn. 1k won't make a huge difference unless you are attacking into the rested Character as I am mainly aiming for the attaching DONs.

ST19 Hina is another Character where we can attach rested DONs onto our cards, not to mention that we can recycle the trash area a little. Hina has 2 effects, the first effect works during your opponent's turn and giving a DON to Hina. This Character gains +4 cost, making Hina an 8 cost Character, making this difficult against cost removals. The second effect is an activate main effect, you may place 1 card from your trash to the bottom of the deck, attach 1 rested DON to your Leader or 1 of your Characters. You could give this DON to Hina to make her an 8 cost Character during your opponent's turn whilst also trigger Garp's Leader cost reducer effect.

Free Play

What I like about these 2 cards is that not only they can let us play cards from the trash but are also Blockers to stop your opponent's attacks. OP05 Rebecca works on play, Add one 3 to 7 cost black Character from your trash to hand. Then, play one 3 cost or less Character from your hand rested. I know there's a bit of red involve in this build, but it won't matter too much as the key cards are black cards for this build.

EB02 Sengoku can only target black Navy Characters unlike Rebecca who could target black Characters. The effect works on play, play 1 black 4 cost or less Navy Character from your trash rested. Personally, there are plenty of options as most of the cards you can choose have Navy type on them.

Navy Supports

For the rest of the Navy supports, we've got these cards mainly searching out the key cards from the build. ST19 Sengoku is like EB02 version where we can only target black Navy cards. This shouldn't matter too much as the only red Navy is Kujyaku in this build. The effect works on play, you may trash 2 black Navy cards from your hand, if your Leader is Navy type, draw 3 cards. This effect is really useful as this build needs specific cards in order to get the deck going.

Kujyaku is our 1 drop searcher especially going first so we don't have to rely on Brannew as the only Navy searcher for black builds for a long time. Kuyjaku has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Navy card other than Kujyaku and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The second effect is an activate main effect where you can trash this Character, 1 of your Characters gains 1k power for this turn. The second effect will give your Characters more power on top of attaching DONs, making your Characters can hit some deadly numbers.

Brannew is the 2 drop searcher for this build. The effect works on play, look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Navy card other than Brannew and add it to your hand, trash the rest of the cards. Personally, getting certain cards to trash doesn't matter too much as we've got both Rebecca and EB02 Sengoku who can make use of the trash area.

Lastly, Be a Navy Officer is another 1 drop searcher we can use especially for going first and not seeing Kujyaku. However, the effect is the same as Brannew where we set up the trash. The effect is look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Navy card other than I'm Gonna Be a Navy Officer and add it to your hand. Then, trash the rest. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
