OP08 Purple/Black (Zephyr) Deck Profile

I think the OP08 stuff works very well with this build, but I just wish we are not limited to 50 cards, as there are some much cards I want to cramp into this build, but lack of room. I will need to make some sacrifices for this build in order to make room for the key cards in this build.



OP08 Z







How it Works?

In this build, we have both ramp and removal, ramping will be important as Z cost us 4 DONs in order to use the Leader's effect. Luckily, OP08 set has some nice cards that can easily recover the lost DONs which is why I decided to build this deck. We have some cost reducers so we could easily KO your opponent's Characters and Kamazo is the best addition with Z effect. If you could get Issho or 10 drop Kuzan in play, when you use Z's Leader effect to return your DONs to deck, you would be able to KO 2 Characters in one go, easily reducing your opponent's board. But of course, you will need to draw Kamazo and the other pieces to get the combo going.


Ramp


I am not running a lot of ramp cards in this build, especially if you could get Maria to the field, then the others aren't important.  EB01 Bon Clay comes with 2 effect, the first effect works on play, add 1 DON as active. The second effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character base power becomes the same as the selected Character's power this turn. So the more power your opponent got, the better Bon Clay will become at becoming a beat stick.

OP05 Kid and OP08 Pudding has really similar effects, except Kid is also a Blocker we could use to stop your opponent's attacks. Both effect triggers when a DON on your field is returned to DON deck. OP05 Kid will let you add a DON as active whilst Pudding lets you add a DON as rest.

OP08 Maria is the main card of the deck because we can make use of the 5 rested DONs with Z Leader being able to return 4 DONs back to deck, so there are no drawback with Maria's effect as long as she stays on the field. Maria's effect is an activate main effect and the effect only works if you have no other Maria Characters in play. You can add up to 5 DONs as rest. Then, at the end of your turn, return DONs to the DON deck until you have the same number of DON as your opponents.

Cost Reducers


To make the full use of Z's Leader effect, I am running plenty of cost reducers. This is so we can also KO high cost Characters easily rather than just midrange cost Characters. 4 drop Kuzan has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, draw 1 card. The second effect is the main effect we are after. The effect works when attacking, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 4 this turn. 4 is a lot, especially against 4-5 drop Characters, so we could get those Characters down to 0.

OP02 Tsuru is still very handy in these kind of builds. The effect works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 this turn. I know 2 is not a lot compare to 4, but don't forget Tsuru is a 1 drop Character. So if we need a quick cost reducing effect, Tsuru is the card to use, otherwise we can use her for the 2k counter during the counter step.

10 drop Kuzan does makes using the removal effects a lot easier thanks to his effect. Just like 4 drop Kuzan, we've got 2 effects. The first effect works on your turn, reduce all of your opponent's Characters cost by 5. This is important as it is a continuous effect, and reducing your opponent's field by 5 which makes KOing those Characters a lot easier. The second effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Character. Now for this effect to KO any Characters, we need two 10 drop Kuzan on your field to work.

OP03 Issho works similar to 10 drop Kuzan, but cheaper to play. There are two effects for Issho, the first effect will require you to attach a DON to Issho for the effect to work. Reduce all of your opponent's Characters cost by 3. I know 3 is not a lot compare to 10 drop Kuzan's 5, but if we combine with other cards, then 3 can be quite deadly. The second effect works on play, if your opponent have 6 cards in their hand, trash 2 cards from their hand. This is just a nice hand destruction effect to force your opponents to discard some cards in their hand.

I do prefer to use ST06 Hina as I want a cost reducer who can act like Issho or Kuzan's effect, instead of having an on play effect. The effect is, you may rest this Character to reduce 1 of your opponent's Character cost by 2 this turn. The best thing about ST06 Tashigi is that we can rest her to use her effect before we play our 10 drop Kuzan from hand, so we could KO a 7 cost Character with Kuzan's on play effect.

Ice Age is just normal in this build as it helps against high cost Characters especially just for 1 DON. The main effect is reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 5 this turn. The trigger effect is KO 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. I personally won't use this unless my opponents has a 3 drop or less beat stick that needs to be stop.

Removals


There's not a lot of removals as Z Leader will be doing all that work, but if we want to remove more than 1 Character, then these 3 can really help for the build. EB01 Brook not only KO Characters, but we can also reduce Character costs, so those Characters would reach the magic number to KO them. EB01 Brook works on play or when attacking. Reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 1 this turn. Then, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Characters.

EB01 TBone works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. This shouldn't be too difficult to do when we get Kuzan or Issho on the field. Plus he is also a 2k counter card, so even if you don't use his effect, you can always keep him in your hand.

OP06 Kamazo (aka Killer) is a Character that works on your turn. The effect is when a DON is returned to your DON deck, KO up to 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. This shouldn't be too difficult to do with Z's effect. Plus just like TBone, if you can get 10 drop Kuzan or Issho in play, then we could KO 2 Characters in one turn, which  is a nice combination effect with Z and Kamazo on the field.

Blockers


Not a lot of Blockers, only 3 in total, but I personally think they would be enough for the build since we mainly KO your opponent's Characters, so the only attack we can stop will be your opponent's Leader. OP02 Kizaru (Borsalino) also have an effect that works on your opponent's turn. This Character gains 1k power and cannot be KO'd by effects. There are still ways to get around this effect but definitely annoying for your opponents if they can't KO Kizaru.

ST04 Queen helps you increase the hand size. I am not running Reiju for extra draw power as we don't constantly return DONs back to deck, because we want to get 10 drop Kuzan as soon as possible on the field. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. This is not bad as the effect will let you plus 1 in your hand.

The Others



The two cards that are mainly a support for the deck and unfortunately Brannew will not work with 10 Kuzan as Kuzan is a Former Navy card, so you can only search for Issho if you want to reduce your opponent's Characters cost. The effect works on play, look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Navy card other than Brannew and add it to your hand. Then, trash the rest of the cards. We do have a few Navy cards in this build, so hopefully we can search them out, otherwise Brannew can easily be replaced with some other cards that could work for this build.

OP06 Moria works on play choose one 4 cost or less Character and one 2 cost or less Character from your trash. Play one as active and the other as rest. The best thing about Moria's effect is that it is not colour restricted, so we could play our purple Characters too and don't need to be black Characters.
