OP08 Red/Green (Chopper) Deck Profile

What I like about this Chopper deck is that even though we have Red, it is not related to the Straw Hats as we are more focus on Drum Kingdom Arc. I've also heard that there's a combo for Chopper build which lets you spam Characters for free and fill up the board. But obviously, when there's combo, there's always the moment of needing those cards to work, and if your opponents doesn't care about combos, then it will hurt this build the most. The red and green colour already gave me an idea of how to build this deck.

OP08 Chopper

How it Works?

This build focus on spamming Animal Character, preferably Chopper, so we can attack in one swoop. The downside is that these cards have very low power, and if you want to protect them, we would be using a lot of counters. This is why we need back up plan like running OP06 Zoro who can attack 3 times once the summon sickness is over. What we also missing is draw power, you do burn quite a lot of cards in your hand, especially protecting certain Characters from being removed on the field.

Searchers

Starting out with the searchers, now one of them is a different type of search as they searches you trash instead. Who I'm talking about is OP01 Chopper. You will need to attack a DON for his effect to work, shouldn't be difficult to do with Chopper Leader around. The effect works when attacking, you may trash 1 card from your hand to add one 4 cost or less Straw Hat Character other than Chopper from your trash to your hand. Unfortunately, we won't be able to search for Chopper, but we could search for other Straw Hats like Nami for example.

OP01 Nami works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Straw Hat card other than Nami and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The effect is very standard, nothing really I could expand on.

Dr Kureha is another searcher, the effect works on play, look at the top 4 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Chopper or Drum Kingdom card other than Kureha and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. I guess the difference is that we can search for either Chopper or Drum Kingdom card just like OP03 Pudding.

Playing Cards For Free

Now we've got the cards who can let us play Characters for free. FILM Brook works on play, play up to one 3 cost or less FILM or Straw Hat type Character from your hand. Most of our Straw Hat Characters are 3 or less, especially Chopper, so we will have plenty of choices to choose from.

OP08 Chopper's effect works on play or when attacking, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, play up to 1 Animal type Character with 4k power or less rested. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The only downside to this effect is that the cards comes in rested, and we don't have ways to untap those rested Characters. But on the bright side, if we play this with FILM Brook, we would be able to play 3 Characters in one turn.

Just Shut Up is an Event Counter, but for this counter, we have no power bonus or even a trigger effect. In return, we would be able to get Characters in play. The counter effect is look at the top 5 cards of your deck and play up to one 3 cost or less Animal type Character. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This is similar to Brook's effect, except we need to play Animal Characters instead, and all of our Animal Characters are within the cost range we could play for free.

Resting

There aren't many rest effects even though we are running Green in this build, the only 2 cards that can rest your opponent's cards will be these 2. FILM Chopper will need a DON for the effect to work. This shouldn't be hard with Chopper Leader. The effect works when attacking, rest 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. 2 cost or less barely put any threats, but if we can rest them, then it might be useful for your other cards to attack into them.

Hody on the other hand has Rush which is very handy for aggressive build like this. The on play effect is rest up to a total of 2 of your opponent's Characters or DONs. Then, add the top card of your Life to your hand. The downside is definitely adding the card from our Life to hand, but in return we would be able to rest any of your opponent's cards.

Chopper/Animals Supports

Now we move on to Chopper and Animal Supports. As you can see, I am not running much of Drum Kingdom supports as we don't need those. EB01 Chopper is a Blocker with a when attacking effect. The when attacking you will need to attach 2 DONs for the effect to work. Reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 3k this turn. This is a special Blocker as if you need additional attacks, it might be worth using this effect to try and take down your opponent's high power Characters.

Personally, I think Hiking Bear is one of our key cards. Just like Chopper, you will need to attach a DON for the effect to work. The effect is also an activate main effect. Once per turn 1 of your Animal type Characters other than this card gains 1k power this turn. This would allow us to hit some magic numbers, or deadly number against your opponent's cards.

Robson's effect is very simple, if you attach 2 DONs to Robson, he will gain Rush. 2 DONs is not that difficult in this build, you just need to make sure you have 1 more DON spare to give it to Robson, so we could trigger the Rush ability and attack straight away.

Dr Hiriluk is a nice addition for Chopper build, especially if you are running a lot of Chopper in the deck. The effect is an activate main, you may rest this Character, if your Leader is Chopper, all of your Chopper Characters gain 2k power this turn. The only downside is that we need to rest Hiriluk, so the power bonus won't last very long, but it will definitely make Chopper deadly beat stick to swing at your opponent's cards.

Straw Hat Supports

Now for the Straw Hat supports, I'm running OP06 Zoro as OP06 Zoro is very good as a back up strategy for this build as relying on a full board of Characters is not ideal against board wipe decks. Zoro have two effects, the first effect works when attacking, by paying 1 DON untap this Character. The second effect is an activate main effect, by paying 2 DONs untap this Character. So you could easily do 3 attacks with Zoro to finish off your opponents.

Radical Beam is an Event Counter, the counter effect is 1 of your Leader or Character gains 2k power this battle. Then, if you have 2 or less Life, that card gains another 2k power, making the grand total of 4k power in total. This card is best when you have 2 or less Life, and we start with 4 Life at the start because of multicoloured Leader, so it will be very handy to use. The Trigger effect is 1 of your Leader or Character gains 1k power this turn. This power up bonus last for 1 turn, so it will be up to you if you need this or not.
