Looks like we've got King with the mask off. Out of all the Leaders in OP08 set, King is the one that is the odd one out in terms of strength wise. So I've been finding cards that can suit King's effect so we don't lose out on the DONs. Luckily, Purple have plenty of ramp cards we could use in this build, but mostly I'll be utilising the returning DONs for this build.

How it Works?
Unfortunately, with the lack of room, I am force to reduce some of my options. The key thing about this deck is ramp. The more you can ramp, the better you can play your high costs cards as well as being able to use King's effect to draw cards or reducing your opponent's Characters cost. But speaking of Characters cost, we also have this in this build with the cards we've got so we can reach magic number to KO those Characters. The lower the better, but we do have some cards who can KO higher cost Characters, still need cost reducers, but you won't need a lot of them.
Ramp
I am running a lot of ramp cards as we are mainly returning DONs back to deck, so we need the ramp to recover the DONs we lost. EB01 Bon Clay have 2 effects, the first effect works on play add 1 DON as active. This is just a simple ramp effect. The second effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character's base power becomes the same power as the selected Character during this turn. So the more power your opponent has on the field, the better Bon Clay becomes.
OP05 Kid and OP08 Pudding has really similar effects, except Kid is also a Blocker we could use to stop your opponent's attacks. Both effect triggers when a DON on your field is returned to DON deck. OP05 Kid will let you add a DON as active whilst Pudding lets you add a DON as rest. Obviously I would take the active more than rest, but at least they both reduce the amount of DONs we needed to return.
Even if we don't have Kid or Pudding in play, we also got OP08 Maria. Maria's effect is an activate main effect and the effect only works if you have no other Maria Characters in play. You can add up to 5 DONs as rest. Then, at the end of your turn, return DONs to the DON deck until you have the same number of DON as your opponents. This is very important, because in the old days we returned a lot of DONs and it will take a while to recover, but now as long as we can get Maria on the field, we can recover all the DONs we lost. It is better if your opponents are at 10 DONs.
Onigashima is one of our key cards, the sooner we see this Stage, the earlier we can ramp and play our high cost Characters. The effect is you may rest this Stage, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates, add 1 DON as rest. If you can see Onigashima in your opening hand, then great, you will be able to set up ramp once per turn, but if you can't, don't worry as this build have 2 searchers who can search for the Stage card.
Cost Reducers
Now we move on to cost reducers and I am not running a lot compare to ramp since ramp is more important. However, if you can get either of these on the field, especially 10 drop Kuzan, it will make a huge difference. OP02 Tsuru works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 this turn. A nice cheap cost reducer if we need to use her.
If we can get 10 drop Kuzan on the field, it will make a huge difference in this build, and it will also means we don't need the other cost reducers. Kuzan comes with 2 effects, the first effect works on your turn, reduce all of your opponent's Characters cost by 5. This is a continuous effect, so we don't need other cost reducers on top. The second effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Character. This will be difficult if we want to KO 6 cost or higher Characters unless we can get two 10 drops Kuzan on the field to remove any Characters.
OP08 Sasaki is another card that can reduce Characters cost by 2 just like Tsuru. However, instead of on play effect, this card has an activate main effect. Rest 1 of your DONs and you may rest this Character to reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 this turn. Now resting DONs may not worth it in a lot of builds, but if we can return DONs back to DON deck then it wouldn't matter. The only downside is that we are resting Sasaki, so your opponents can easily target that card as an attack target.
Removals
Most of these removals will work best with your cost reducers, especially 10 drop Kuzan for what they target. OP06 Kamazo aka Kid works when a DON is returned to your DON deck, you can KO 1 of your opponent's cost 2 or less Characters. This shouldn't be too difficult to do, especially when Kamazo isn't an on play effect, so we could use King's effect to reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters to 2 cost, trigger Kamazo's effect to KO that Character. Pretty much a win win situation, however, if you want to KO a higher cost Character, you will need to have other cost reducers.
OP08 Jack is a card that we can ignore the first effect as we want to use Jack for the second effect. The first effect is this Character gains 4 cost, making Jack a 11 cost Character, making your opponents difficult to remove, as Jack is a 11 cost Character instead of 7. The second effect is an activate main effect, you may rest this Character to draw and trash 1 card from your hand. Then, KO up to 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. This shouldn't be too difficult as KOing 3 cost or less Characters is a lot easier to do than 2.
ST04 Kaido is a 9 cost card, so if you are planning to use 1 of your 1 drop cost reducers, we would have some room, but not for King's effect. The on play effect is by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less. Then this card gains Rush. So not only we are able to KO your opponent's Characters, but the Rush ability means we can attack as soon as Kaido hits the field, potentially KOing 2 Characters in one go.
Conquest of the Sea works amazing in these kind of build. The effect is by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates or Big Mom Pirates type, KO up to 2 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. If we got Kuzan on the field, we can KO any Characters we want, giving us a board wiping combo, not to mention if we've also got Kamazo, we could clear 3 Characters in one go. But that situation will just be a dream as it will be difficult to set up clearing 3 Characters in one turn as you need 3 cards on the field to work.
Searchers
What this deck has is the access of searchers for our turn 1 play, this will also means we could search out Onigashima from our deck as Onigashima is our important ramp cards. Queen's effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Animal Kingdom Pirates card other than Queen and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The only downside is that we can't search for another Queen we've got in this build.
This won't matter as we've got the second searcher who could search for Queen. Claiming the One Piece works if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates or Big Mom Pirates, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Animal Kingdom Pirates or Big Mom Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The only Big Mom Pirates card we've got in this build is Pudding, other than that you will be mainly searching Animal Kingdom Pirates cards.
The Others
Now we've got the extras in this build who could be replace if you don't like them, but they do provide some nice support in this build. OP02 Kizaru is a Blocker with an effect that works on your opponent's turn, this Character gains 1k power and cannot be KO'd by effects. So we would have a 6k Blocker to block some of your opponent's attacks.
OP06 Moria works on play choose one 4 cost or less Character and one 2 cost or less Character from your trash. Play one as active and the other as rest. Personally I think, we've got plenty of choices to choose from, but it will depends on which cards you need when you play Moria to start spamming Characters from your trash.
ST04 Queen is a 6k Blocker with an on play effect. The on play effect is by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. This is just a simple hand filter effect, except we gain an extra card unlike OP08 Jack. This will be very handy as this build will need specific cards if you want to pull off some deadly combinations to remove your opponent's board.
