OP11 Purple (Katakuri) Deck Profile

I like how purple Katakuri and yellow Katakuri are similar where we can check your opponent's cards. The only downside is that we don't do anything with your opponent's top card, so they will draw that card even if you don't want to see that card. Personally, not doing anything with the top card keeps the deck balance, as you really don't want to do too much with the effect.

OP11 Katakuri

How it Works?

As you know, the deck is all about checking your opponent's top cards to trigger the effects. I've also added a bit of ramp to the build, since you do need some ramp to actually make this deck work, especially if you are planning to use 10 drop Big Mom's effect. At the moment, I went with quite a defensive build using 2k counters combined with Katakuri's Leader effect, so your opponents will need quite a lot of power if they want to break through our defence.

Ramp

When it comes to ramp, we've got these cards. Although you could add Bon Clay to the build for more additional ramp effect. OP08 Pudding is a nice 3 drop we need to have on the field. The effect is when a DON on your field is returned, add 1 DON as rest. We will be returning DONs using Katakuri's Leader effect especially if we want to also trigger the rest of this build.

OP11 Oven might be difficult to trigger part of the effect as I am mainly running him for the ramp. The effect is an activate main, you may rest this Character, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, KO 1 of your opponent's 3 cost base or less Characters. Then, add 1 DON as rest. The KO part is difficult, but at least we would have our constant ramp card as long as Oven is on the field.

OP11 Perospero has a lot of effects involve for a rare. It is not bad and also a 7k beat stick for a 5 drop. The effect is an activate main, you may trash 1 card from your hand, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, draw 1 card and add 1 DON as active. Technically we won't be losing cards in our hand to trigger Perospero's effect as this is more of a hand filter effect with ramp.

Lastly, we have OP11 Katakuri which is one of the key card for BM Pirates deck. Katakuri is a Blocker with an effect that works at the end of your turn, 2 of your 3 cost or more BM Pirates Characters becomes active. Then, add 1 DON as rest. You will be constantly returning DONs if you are planning to use Katakuri's Leader effect, so we won't be able to maintain a full 10 DONs on the field. Not to mention, we can also swing with this Katakuri, then use his effect to untap him, so we can have a Blocker during your opponent's turn.

Resting

The 2 cards that focus on resting, not much I can say about these 2 cards, except is that their 2k counters will be handy, especially with Katakuri's Leader effect. ST18 Usohachi works on play, if you have 8 or more DONs on your field, rest 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters.

Although we do have a card that doesn't need 8 or more DONs to work which is OP11 Streusen. The effect is an activate main effect, by returning 1 DON, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. Streusen is better than Usohachi when it comes to resting, but we do return a DON which is not that useful if we don't have OP08 Pudding on the field.

Big Mom Pirates Supports

As for the BM Pirates supports, we've got these cards. OP11 Anana is a 1 drop Blocker, but the Blocker ability only works if you have a purple BM Pirates Character other than Anana. This is easy to do as we are mainly running a full deck of BM Pirates.

OP11 Pudding is one of the new searcher where we get an on play effect and another effect. The on play effect is look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal one 2 cost or more BM Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. I don't think the search effect will be too much of a downside considering our main BM Pirates are 2 cost or more. The second effect is an activate main which is, by returning 1 DON and resting this Character. Look at the top card of your opponent's deck. Katakuri Leader can do this automatically, but why do we need a second one? The answer is simple, its because of draw effects, once they trigger the draw power, that top card will be different meaning we need to know the new top card again.

Kid Katakuri is mainly to play our 8 drop Katakuri either for free or for 2 cost which is a lot better than paying the full 8 cost. The effect is an activate main effect. You may trash this Character, if your Leader is BM Pirates, play one 3 cost or more Katakuri that is equal or less than the number of DONs on your opponent's field. This is very useful as long as your opponent got 8 DONs, we can play kid Katakuri for 2, then use the effect to play 8 drop Katakuri, giving you a lot of DONs left to play other cards.

OP08 Big Mom is optional, but I am running her just for the Life gain ability, even though we start with 5 Life cards. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON and trashing 1 card from your hand. Add the top card of your deck to top of your Life. Then, add 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters to their top or bottom of the Life area face up. The only downside is your opponents will also be gaining a Life card but at a cost of losing 1 of their Characters.

Lastly, we have OP11 Big Mom who is our main beat stick. Unfortunately, the effect only works during your opponent's attacks, but we have a Rush ability. In order to gain Rush, our Leader need to be BM Pirates for the ability to work. The effect is by returning 5 DONs, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, 1 of your Leader gains 2k power for the turn. This will make Katakuri Leader a 7k base, plus his own effect, making him 8k Leader, but of course, we would be losing 5 DONs, not like that would be difficult to recover.

Events

There are many combination of Events you can try for this build, and I have chosen these 2 Events. None of them have counter effects, but we won't really need counter effects with the amount of 2k counter in this build, plus Katakuri's Leader effect. Claiming the One Piece is another searcher because Pudding can only search for 2 cost or more BM Pirates, where as Claim the One Piece can search for any BM Pirates. The effect is if your Leader is AK Pirates or BM Pirates, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 AK Pirates or BM Pirates and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.

I really like God Thread effect especially for this build who lacks removal, so God Thread can be handy. The effect is KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. Then, add 1 DON as active. Not only we can KO your opponent's Characters, but we can also ramp, as ramping is very important in this build if you want to constantly spam Katakuri's Leader effect. The trigger effect is add 1 DON as active.
