I know it's a bit late to say this, but they finally made Omnimon focus on DNA digivolving like the anime. It has been weird for me not seeing Omnimon getting DNA digivolving mechanic ever since they have introduced DNA Digivolve. Well, I guess it's better late than never. Anyway, DNA digivolving with Omnimon is very strong as our Lv6s have plenty of DP to swing at your opponent's Security, then we can DNA Digivolve to get the 1 extra attack.
BT22 Omnimon |
---|
How it Works?
If you want to play a deck that can spam rookies, then this is one of the deck that can do this. We not only spam rookies, but we can also digivolve into their final form so we could DNA digivolve into the Omnimon. Honestly, the only thing you should worry about getting is Nokia, as we need Nokia on the field to make use of BT22 WG and MG's effect, allowing us to digivolve on top of their rookie form for 6. 6 is a lot considering I am not running any memory ramp card in this build, so you will need to rely on the Tamers to reduce the amount of memory you can give to your opponents.
I know this deck has some black cards even though the title says blue/red, but those black cards will work with WG and MG's effect, as well as being additional searchers to get the cards we need. There wasn't a lot of searcher from Gabumon and Agumon from their colours, which is why I am running black, otherwise, it would be easier for me to run more red Agumon and blue Gabumon if we've got enough searchers.
Omnimon
If you are big fan of Omnimon, I tried to cramp as much Omnimon as possible that could work with this build. It is all about playing with the numbers as we can search these Omnimon from the build pretty easily. BT22 Omnimon is the main Digimon I prefer to have on the field. Omnimon have 2 alternative digivolve requirements, one can digivolve on top of Lv6 CS trait for 5, or DNA digivolve with 1 Lv6 Greymon in its name and 1 Lv6 Garurumon in its name for 0. We have Blocker, Decoy red/black Lv3 or Decoy blue/yellow Lv3. Then, we have 2 effects, the first effect works on play or when attacking, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with the lowest DP. What I find is that this effect is not once per turn, so as long as your opponent has Digimon, we can constantly clear the field. The second effect will work best with DNA digivolve, and if you don't DNA digivolve, then the effect would be pointless. The second effect works when digivolving, for every 2 same level cards in this Digimon's stack, return 1 of your opponent's Digimon to the bottom of the deck. Then, this Digimon may attack. If you DNA digivolve, combined with the first effect, you can easily clear 3 Digimon in one turn with just 1 card, a lot better than using option cards to clear your opponent's board.
Omnimon Ace is different than most of the Ace cards, as we have Blast DNA Digivolve in case we past the memory to your opponent's turn when we play our WG and MG to the field. Of course, the alternate digivolve requirement is the same as BT22 Omnimon where we DNA digivolve with 1 Lv6 Greymon in its name and 1 Lv6 Garurumon in its name for 0. The Blast DNA Digivolve only works with WG and MG unlike the DNA digivolve. We have Raid and Blocker ability with an effect that works on play or when digivolving, if DNA digivolve, choose 1 of your opponent's Digimon and return all of your opponent's Digimon with the same level to the bottom of the deck. Then, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon. This effect is great against certain builds where they spam certain level to the field, so we can have this card as a board wipe to clear their board.
EX9 Alter S can be as good as BT22 Omnimon, but I guess this is all depends on 1 prefer style. Some people would like Alter S's effect, so they can easily max out this card in the build, whilst some would prefer BT22 Omnimon. Although Alter S will need more copies in the deck if you want to trigger one of the specific effect. We have 2 alternative digivolve requirements, 1 can digivolve on top of a Lv6 with DM trait for 5, whilst the other is DNA digivolve with 1 Lv6 Blue Digimon and 1 Lv6 Red Digimon for 0. Alter S have 2 effects, the first effect would work best if you DNA digivolve, if DNA digivolve, your opponent's effects don't affect this Digimon for the turn. Then, delete all of your opponent's Digimon with the highest level. This is very strong as we could stop any effects that could remove this Digimon from the field, and there are a lot of effects out there that can easily remove this Digimon. The second effect works at the end of your turn, you may play 1 Greymon in its name or ver 1 trait and 1 Garurumon in its name or ver 2 trait from this Digimon's digi source without paying the cost. If this effect played, place this Digimon on top of your security stack. I can see why some people would prefer Alter S as we could do a sec recovery as well as having a 15k DP security Digimon, although only works if your opponent has 1 Digimon on the field ready to attack, otherwise, they can easily sacrifice their low DP Digimon to get around this card.
I am also running Alter B. Unlike the others Alter B doesn't need to perform DNA digivolve, instead the alternative digivolve requirement is digivolve on top of a Lv7 Omnimon in its name for 2. Alter B has 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolving, De-Digivolve 3 one of your opponent's Digimon, then, choose any number of your opponent's Digimon that add up the total play cost of 6 and delete them. This is okay as 6 is not a lot if we don't focus on dedigivolving your opponent's Digimon. The second effect will work best if one of your Omnimon have been DNA digivolved so we could maximise this effect. The second effect works when attacking, by trashing up to 3 Lv6 or more in this Digimon's digi source, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon or Tamers with the lowest play cost for each card trashed. If you trashed 3 cards, trash the top 2 of your opponent's security stack. Of course, if we can trash 3, then, trashing the top 2 security would be very helpful, as this build will take a bit to pop off.
BT20 OmniX is optional, you can run this card in the build or not. Some people choose to ignore this card and some people will include this card. This will be personal preference like maximising Alter S or not. The alternative digivolve requirement will be digivolving on top of Omnimon for 2. We have Raid, Piercing and Blocker with 2 effects. The first effect works on play or when digivolving, if Omnimon or X Antibody is in this Digimon's digi source, choose 1 of both player's Digimon and delete all of the other Digimon. Then, return 1 of your opponent's Digimon to the bottom of the owner's deck. This is a great board wipe card if you can't stop your opponents from gaining a board advantage. The second effect works at the end of your turn, 1 of your Digimon gains Rush and attack without suspending. The ability to attacking without suspending means even our suspended Digimon can also attack your opponent's security which can be very helpful in a lot of cases.
MetalGarurumon + WarGreymon
Of course, we will need these 2 OGs in order to DNA digivolve into Omnimon. All of them will have alternative digivolve requirements, but their alternative digivolve requirement is useless as I am not running any Lv5s to trigger this. BT17 MG can be hard play for 8 if you have a Tamer with Matt in its name on the field. This is important as we have got no other ways to get this card to the field aside from hard playing. The effect works on play or when digivolving, activate 1 of the following, 1 of your opponent's Digimon or Tamers can't suspend until the end of their turn or 1 of your Agumon can digivolve into WG ignoring the digivolve requirements and without paying the cost. Both effects can be good, 1 for DNA Digivolving, and 1 can stop your opponents from doing stuff. The inherited effect works when attacking, if this Digimon has Omnimon in its name, unsuspend this Digimon.
BT22 MG on the other hand will be able to digivolve on top of Gabumon if we have fulfilled the requirements, so we don't need to spend a lot of memory just to trigger the effect. MG has 2 effects, the first effect works from hand, if you have Nokia, 1 of your Gabumon can digivolve into this card for the cost of 6 and ignoring the requirements. This is why we need Nokia on the field as she is very important to trigger this effect. The second effect works when digivolving, activate 1 of the following, 1 of your Agumon can digivolve into WG ignoring the digivolve requirements and without paying the cost or return 1 of your opponent's Digimon with the lowest level. Personally, I like this effect over BT17 version as we could return your opponent's Digimon, reducing the number of attacks they can do. The inherited effect is the same as BT17 version if this Digimon has Omnimon in its name, unsuspend this Digimon.
BT17 WG can also be hard play for 8 if we have a Tamer with Tai in its name on the field. This is very similar to BT17 MG as both cards are designed for DNA digivolving. The effect works on play or when digivolving, activate 1 of the following effects, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with 8k DP or less, or 1 of your Gabumon can digivolve into MG ignoring the digivolve requirements and without paying the cost. What I do like is we are able to remove your opponent's Digimon compare to BT17 MG who stops your opponent's attacks. The inherited effect works when attacking, if this Digimon has Omnimon in its name, trash your opponent's top security card.
BT22 WG is like MG where we can digivolve on top of Agumon so we don't need to hard play our megas. WG has 2 effects, the first effect works from hand, if you have Nokia, 1 of your Agumon can digivolve into this card for the cost of 6 and ignoring the requirements. The second effect works when digivolving, activate 1 of the following effects, 1 of your Gabumon can digivolve into MG ignoring the digivolve requirements and without paying the cost, or delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with the lowest DP. The inherited effect is the exact same as BT17 WG, if this Digimon has Omnimon in its name, trash your opponent's top security card.
DNA Digivolve Supports
We do have some DNA digivolve supports to make DNA digivolving a lot easier. BT22 Gabumon can also digivolve on top of Tsunomon or Lv2 CS trait for 0. This is important as I am running black digi egg for this, and luckily that digi egg has CS trait, so we won't need to worry too much about digivolving. The main effect works on play, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card with Omnimon in the text and 1 card with CS trait among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck. We do want to hard play Gabumon more as we could potentially can add 2 cards to hand with this search effect. The inherited effect works at the end of your turn, this Digimon and any of your other Digimon may DNA digivolve into a Digimon from your hand.
BT22 Agumon is pretty much the same with the digivolve cost, you could digivolve on top of Koromon or Lv2 CS trait for 0. The effect works on play, you may return 1 Digimon with Greymon, Garurumon or Omnimon in its name from your trash to your hand. Not as good as Gabumon for getting the key cards, but at least we could get some cards that ended up in the trash area. The inherited effect is the exact same as Gabumon where this Digimon and any of your other Digimon may DNA digivolve into a Digimon from your hand.
Mega Knight is interesting, but will also allow us to play the rookies for 2 instead of paying their full 3 cost. The main effect is you may play 1 Agumon or Gabumon from your hand or trash without paying the cost. Then, place this card in the battle area. The second effect works all turns, when one of your Lv6 Digimon would leave the battle area outside battle, delay, that Digimon and a card in your hand may DNA digivolve into Omnimon in its name in your hand. This effect is very important as keeping Lv6 Digimon on the field is very risky as removal can easily remove that card. But thanks to Mega Knight, we can easily protect that Digimon. The security effect is you may play 1 Tai or Matt in its name from your hand or trash without paying the cost. Then, add this card to your hand.
Searchers
When it comes to searching Omnimon, you should have no difficulties at all with the amount of searchers in the build. EX4 Agumon works on play, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 Digimon with Greymon in its name and 1 Digimon with Gabumon, Garurumon or Omnimon in its name among them to your hand. Place the rest at the top in any order. This is very good as not only we can search for Greymon, but we can also search for the Gabumon line for DNA digivolving. The inherited effect is when of your other Digimon digivolves, gain 1 memory. This might be difficult to trigger, but not impossible as I am mainly running Agumon for the search.
EX4 Gabumon is the same reason as EX4 Agumon as both of these cards will have almost identical effect. The effect works on play, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 Digimon with Garurumon in its name and 1 Digimon with Agumon, Greymon or Omnimon in its name among them to your hand. Place the rest at the top in any order. The inherited effect is the exact same as EX4 Agumon when of your other Digimon digivolves, gain 1 memory.
Lastly, I've decided to run BT12 Agumon as we can have another searcher in the build. For me, there always not enough search to get the right cards for DNA Digivolve. You will be mainly hard playing BT12 Agumon as it will cost 1 to digivolve on top of a digi egg. The effect works on play, reveal the top 4 cards of your deck, add 1 Greymon or Omnimon in their name and 1 Tai Tamer in their name among them to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The Tai Tamers aren't as important, but if you can get at least 1 on the field, that will reduce the cost of BT17 WG. The inherited effect works all turns while this Digimon has Greymon or Omnimon in its name, it gets 1k DP, giving you more power for Omnimon.
Tamers
The Tamers are important, so we need to get them out on the field as soon as possible so we can trigger our Megas effects since there are no normal digivolving in this deck. EX4 Matt & Tai is a card I like as we will be playing our rookies, and Matt & Tai will make use of those cards. There are 2 effects, the first effect works when you play a Gabumon or Agumon, you may suspend this Tamer to gain 1 memory. You will be doing this a lot for this build so we could DNA digivolve a lot easier. The second effect is when 1 of your Digimon digivolves, if you have 1 or less Digimon, you may play 1 Gabumon if you digivolve into Greymon in its name, or you may play 1 Agumon if you digivolve into Garurumon in its name from your hand or trash without paying the cost. This effect is very strong as your opponents can easily stop us from DNA digivolving by clearing our boards. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.
EX9 Tai & Matt is okay, doesn't really work well in this build which is why I am only running 1 in the deck. There are 2 effects, the first effect works on play, you may return 1 Digimon with Greymon, Garurumon or Omnimon in its name from your trash to your hand. If this effect didn't return, draw 1 card. This effect is good as we can recycle some cards that might end up in the trash from our security area. The second effect works all turns, when any of your Digimon are played or digivolve, by suspending this Tamer, gain 1 memory if you have a Digimon with Greymon in its name. Then, gain 1 memory if you have a Digimon with Garurumon in its name. This might be difficult to trigger as we will be mainly focused on Omnimon most of the time using MG and WG combined. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.
BT17 Tai & Matt is a card that can work with 2 especially for the last part of the effect. But for the first part of the effect, it is exact same as EX9 version. The first effect works all turns, when any of your Digimon are played or digivolve, by suspending this Tamer, gain 1 memory if you have a Digimon with Greymon in its name. Then, gain 1 memory if you have a Digimon with Garurumon in its name. The second effect works at the end of your turn, 1 of your Digimon with Omnimon in its name may attack a player. This effect is useful when we DNA digivolve at the end of the turn, allowing us to sneak some attacks in, especially combined with BT22 Omnimon's effect. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.
I've decided to run BT5 Nokia in order to increase the chances of getting Nokia name to the field, so we could digivolve on top of our rookies using BT22 MG and WG's effect. Nokia has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, you may play 1 Agumon or Gabumon from your hand without paying the cost. The second effect works during your turn, when 1 of your Digimon would digivolve into Greymon, Garurumon or Omnimon in its name, by suspending this Tamer, reduce the digivolve cost by 1. This can help us to reduce BT22 MG and WG by 1 making them only costing 5 to digivolve. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.
Lastly BT22 Nokia is a memory setter with 2 more effects. The first effect works at start of your main phase or on play, if you have 1 or less Digimon, play 1 Agumon or Gabumon from your hand without paying the cost. This is similar to BT5 Nokia, but good and bad at the same time. If you have more than 1 Digimon, you won't be able to use this effect, but if you constantly have 1 or less Digimon, you can easily spam this effect. The second effect is the main reason why I decided to maximise the numbers in the deck, and not just for the Nokia name. The second effect works all turns, all of your Digimon with Greymon, Garurumon or Omnimon in its name gains 1k DP. If you can get 4 BT22 Nokia on the field, that is 4k DP bonus which might make some difference especially for Omnimon. The security effect is play this card without paying the cost.
