ST26 Purple/Black (Luffy) Deck Profile

The funny part of this deck is that this is technically mono purple deck, but we start with 4 Life cards instead of 5. Honestly, there haven't been any good black cards we could use for this deck. Plus it didn't help that the new starter deck only had purple cards even though we had a multicolour Leader as reprint. There are no new cards from OP11 set that could work with this build which is why I have named this ST26.



ST26 Luffy





How it Works?

This deck mainly focus on utilising our Leader's effect by returning certain number of DONs back to DON deck. The only non SH cards will be Law and Maria, but they do play an important role for this deck, which is why I am running those 2 cards. The key part to this build is to ramp as much as possible so we can play our high cost Characters on the field, especially if you can trigger ST26 Luffy for the build. That one card will make our defence a lot easier, even though some of the cards have 2k counters, and we are also running plenty of Blockers. What's more, we also have Nika Luffy increasing our Characters cost, making cards that target costs a bit harder to do as we would be able to limit their options.


Ramp


This time around, we do not need Bon Clay, so you can save a bit of money as that would be one less Secret Rare card you need to get. The others will give you enough ramp if you draw these cards. OP09 Zoro works on play, by returning 1 or more DONs on your field, add 1 DON as active. This effect specifically works with Nika Luffy Leader as we can trigger Nika Luffy's effect to get 2 more DONs, so in total, we return 2 to gain 3 DONs in 1 turn.

ST26 Robin technically works the same as Zoro as this is another card design for Nika Luffy Leader. The effect works on play, by returning 2 DONs, add 1 DON as active. So just like Zoro, we could gain 2 active DONs with this effect, but unlike Zoro, Robin has a 2k counter we can use.

Another 2k counter also works as a ramp will be OP08 Maria. You will be returning quite a few DONs, even if you used Nika Luffy's Leader effect for the turn, so Maria can make use of the downside with the effect. The effect is an activate main effect and the effect only works if you have no other Maria Characters in play. You can add up to 5 DONs as rest. Then, at the end of your turn, return DONs to the DON deck until you have the same number of DON as your opponents. The more DONs your opponent has on the field, the less DONs we will need to return when we use our effects.

Rest


The 2 cards that can rest your opponent's Characters, however, 1 of the cards I mainly use the counters more than the effect, since the power is low, unless my opponent has a Character or Blocker we want to stop. ST18 Usohachi will need 8 DONs on the field for the effect to work. The effect works on play, if you have 8 or more DONs on your field, rest 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters.

OP09 Sanji is the main card we want to have on the field as he is a 7k beat stick with Rush, which will be very useful for additional attacks. The effect works on play, you may return 1 or more DONs on your field. This Character gains Rush and rest 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. Just like OP09 Zoro, we can return more than 1 DON, at least 2, so we can trigger Nika Luffy's effect to get active DONs to the field.

Rush


Sanji is not the only card with Rush ability, as we also have the 2 Luffy who can gain Rush to swing at your opponents. EB02 Luffy has 2 effects, the first effect with require you to have a multicoloured Leader and your opponent needing 5 DONs to work to gain Rush. This is one of the easiest requirement to do in this game. The second effect works when attacking, you may return 2 of your active DONs to your DON deck to untap this Character. Then, add the top Life card to your hand. It is not difficult to set up 2 active DONs in this build, but we do lose a Life card which is why this card is mainly for final push for game.

OP09 Luffy is a card we want to play if we managed to get enough DONs on the field, as he is a 10k beat stick for 9 cost. The effect works on play, you may return 1 or more DONs on your field. Draw 1 card and this Character gains Rush this turn. Just like Sanji or Zoro, we could return more than 1 DON if we want to trigger Nika Luffy's effect to get an active DON to the field.

Draw


Now for the draw power, we've got these cards, so you shouldn't really have difficulties in getting a decent hand size to either play cards or stop your opponent's attacks. Both OP09 Franky and ST18 Onami are Blockers with the same trash 1 card to draw 2 cards. The only difference is that Franky needs you to return 2 DONs from your field whilst Onami needs 8 or more DONs. We can mainly play Franky sooner as Onami takes time to set up.

I won't be surprised if Giant could get banned in the future since this card is in Block 3, and it is very OP for purple SH build as it is a must have in the deck, especially when this card got reprinted in the starter deck. The counter effect is by returning 2 DONs from your field, you may trash 1 card from your hand, if your Leader is SH type, 1 of your Leader or Character cards gains 4k power this battle. Then, draw 2 cards. If you keep returning DONs, you will at least get 1 active DON from Nika Luffy's effect so we could play Giant.

Straw Hat Supports


As for the SH supports, we've got these cards. Now, I know Law is not a SH, but he does search for SH Characters, and pretty much our best turn 1 play to get the search triggered. The effect works on play, look at top 4 cards of your deck, reveal one 2 cost or more SH or Heart Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Its mainly our Events we can't add to our hand as most of them are 1 cost and below.

ST26 Luffy is one of the key card for this build. If you can fulfilled the requirements, then triggering the effect will be easy. The effect works on play or when attacking, by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is multicoloured and your opponent has 5 or more DONs on their field. Your SH Leader will have a base power of 7k until the end of your opponent's turn. 7k Leader are definitely harder to break through, not to mention we can trigger this effect constantly, so every turn, we can easily make a 7k base Leader.

OP07 Sanji has become more important for this build as it will be very easy to trigger the effect. Sanji is just a Blocker but with an effect, if the number of DONs is at least 2 less than your opponent's field, reduce this cost by 3. If you constantly return DONs, you can easily get at least 2 less than your opponents, especially when you constantly spam ST26 Luffy's effect without your other OP09 Characters.

Events


The Events line are simple, although I am thinking to increase the number of Lightning in the deck as we lack removals. Jet Gatling is still nice to have in the build as it cost 0 to play. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power this turn. The trigger effect is add 1 DON as active, although we don't really need the trigger effect as we got other cards for the ramp.

Fight against Pirates is another searcher for the deck, since the more search, the easier to get specific cards you want. The effect is look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 SH Pirates, Heart Pirates or Kid Pirates and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Unlike Law, we will be able to search for our low cost Events if you need them in your hand. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.

Lightning is the only removal for the deck, and with Nika Luffy as the Leader, we could make use of the returning DONs. The effect is by returning 2 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6k power or less Characters. We will get 1 DON as active if we haven't used Nika Luffy this turn when we play this Event. The trigger effect is the exact same as Jet Gatling where we add 1 DON as active.
