OP10 Green/Black (Perona) Deck Profile

Personally, I wanted to post an OP09 version of Perona, but there were some cards in OP10 set that can work with this build, plus the April ban list would mean I had to change some cards around. I think the April ban list did made it easier for me to build this deck, but of course finding the replacement were difficult to do.

OP10 Perona

How it Works?

I went with a Green/Black Navy build considering both Tashigi and Smoker being Navy cards. Of course, we won't gain access to Ice Age since that card is banned which is a downside for this build. You could go with Wano engine since you can get the access to your 1 drop searchers, but I've decided to try something different for this build. As you can also see, I've tried to cramp as much as possible in one deck, making the full use of cost reducers, rest and removals.

Although there might be some cards you can replace, and add some Blockers to the build if you want to strengthen the defensive side of the deck, but our main focus is definitely, resting and KOing your opponent's Characters, so they will need to constantly build up a board in order to attack your cards.

Rest

There's actually not much resting involve in this build because of Perona's Leader effect as we want to use her effect constantly, more than the other cards. OP01 Izo works on play, rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Character. Even if you don't play Izo, the 2k counter will be handy for defence.

Hody on the other hand is optional, but I am running him for the Rush ability that could let us swing straight away to make this build more aggressive. The effect works on play, rest up to a total of 2 of your opponent's Characters or DONs. Then, add the top Life card to your hand. We do lose a Life card with this effect, but in return, we could rest your opponent's cards except their Leader.

Cost Reducers

Now, we've got cost reducers who are the main cards for this build so we can trigger Perona's Leader effect and resting your opponent's Characters. OP02 Tsuru is our 1 drop cost reducer, the effect works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 this turn. This is not too bad as we can rest 4 cost or less Characters, so our target is not too low when it comes to Character cost.

4 drop Kuzan on the other hand is one of our constant cost reducers, so we can rest our opponent's high cost Characters. 4 drop Kuzan has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, draw 1 card. The second effect is the main effect we are after. The effect works when attacking, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 4 this turn. The only downside is that we need to attack with this card, so your opponent can easily target this card for an attack.

Next we have our OP03 Issho who is a cheaper version of 10 drop Kuzan, but I am running both of them in this build. There are two effects for Issho, the first effect will require you to attach a DON to Issho for the effect to work. Reduce all of your opponent's Characters cost by 3. The second effect works on play, if your opponent have 6 cards in their hand, trash 2 cards from their hand. A nice hand destruction effect if your opponents has draw and search power.

10 drop Kuzan will be the best cost reducer in this build as we don't need to do anything unlike Issho.  Just like 4 drop Kuzan, we've got 2 effects. The first effect works on your turn, reduce all of your opponent's Characters cost by 5. This is important as it is a continuous effect, so this will make resting and KOing a lot easier rather than constantly attaching a DON to Issho. The second effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's 0 cost Character.

Removals

Now for the removals, we've got these cards, and there are a lot of removals, but most of them only work against rested Characters. OP06 Ryuma can work on play or on KO, KO 1 of your opponent's rested 4 cost or less Characters. This can put good pressure against your opponents with this effect, unless your opponent got no targets.

OP01 X Drake basically has the exact same effect as Ryuma, but being a 5 drop instead. Although he is a Navy Character, so we can search him with our searcher. The effect work on play, KO 1 of your opponent's rested 4 cost or less Characters. I guess the only difference is that Drake has a counter whilst Ryuma doesn't.

Next we have OP08 Jack who is pretty decent in this build and is our constant removal as long as we can reduce your opponent's Characters cost. The first effect is this Character gains 4 cost, making Jack a 11 cost Character, making your opponents difficult to remove, as Jack is a 11 cost Character instead of 7. The second effect is an activate main effect, you may rest this Character to draw and trash 1 card from your hand. Then, KO up to 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. You will need the help of cost reducers in order to get down to 3 or less cost.

ST16 Shanks is great in this build where we can focus on resting, as unlike Ryuma and Drake, Shanks can KO any rested Characters, so we won't need to rely on our cost reducers to target the Characters. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's rested Characters. Not to mention, this is a 9 drop 11k beat stick which is a decent power to swing at your opponents.

Lastly I am running OP08 Kaido, honestly, you can replace Kaido to boost Shanks number, but I am using this card for part of the effect. The effect is an activate main, you may trash 1 card from your hand. If this Character was played this turn, trash up to 1 of your opponent's 7 cost or less Characters. Then, your opponent trashes 1 card from their hand. The effect says trash which makes a huge difference as we can get around protection from KO effects as well as making your opponent discarding a card from their hand.

Untapping

There are 2 cards that can untap DONs, and they work once per turn, and not being an on play effect which is very useful. Both cards are easy to trigger. OP10 Perona works when a Character is rested with your effect, untap 1 DON. Resting will be very easy in this build thanks to Perona's Leader effect, easily triggering this effect to untap a DON.

OP10 Smoker is really useful as this card is also a Navy card, so we can search it out from the deck. We've got the Banish keyword to put pressure against your opponents, but most importantly, it is the activate main effect we want. Untap 1 of your DONs, then you cannot untap DONs with your Character's effects during this turn. So what we want is to use Perona's effect, then Smoker effect, this way, we could guarantee to get 2 untap DONs to use.

Navy Supports

For the Navy support, we got these cards, 2 of them act as a protection for your field which is really useful. OP05 Corazon is a Blocker with an effect that works during your opponent's turn. If your rested Characters would be KO'd, you may trash this Character instead. Along with OP10 Tashigi, we can get some nice protection for your Characters on your field.

Brannew is your Navy searcher who can search out most of the cards in this build. The effect works on play, look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Navy card other than Brannew and add it to your hand. Trash the rest. The downside is that we could trash some important cards, especially when I am running low number of copies in this build.

OP10 Tashigi is good against returning effects whilst Corazon is only good against KO'd effects. The effect is if you have a green Character other than Tashigi is removed from your field by your opponent's effects, you may rest this Character instead. Thanks to this effect, we won't have to worry about other effects that could remove your Characters, as Corazon can protect against KO'd whilst Tashigi protect against other removal effects.

Events

For the Events, we've got these cards. Because of Justice is a 0 Event Counter card where the counter effect is very standard and all colours will have this effect. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card in your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Character gains 3k power this turn. The trigger effect is rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. Both effect will be very handy and will depends on what you need at that time.

Radio Knife is very useful as it can act as an extra removal on top of your removals already in this build. The effect is rest 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. Then, KO 1 of your opponent's rested 5 cost or less Characters. This effect is very easy to trigger thanks to the cost reducers in the build, so we could target your opponent's high cost Characters. The trigger effect is the exact same as Because of Justice which is rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters.
