OP08 Blue/Purple (Kaido) Deck Profile

Compare to the starter deck Kaido build, we won't get a lot of upgrades using the new cards as we could easily ramp with this build using the old cards with Kaido's Leader effect. This also means we could play our high cost Characters easily if we get the ramp going, but it is like a double edge sword, if we don't get the ramp going, then we will struggle getting this deck working.

OP08 UP Kaido

How it Works?

A deck that focus on ramping whilst KOing your Characters whether by an effect or by an attack, you will get the ramp effect once per turn from your Leader. Of course, we do run some KO effects in this build, but the only downside is that they cost very high to play. I don't think you need Ramp cards personally, especially if you can get Onigashima in your hand, then the ramp would be pretty useless as we could get 1 or 2 DONs per turn with Kaido Leader and Onigashima. I guess if you are returning a lot of DONs back to deck, then ramp cards would be useful, but  unfortunately not for this build.

I've also tried to cramp everything is this build, I am not running Ulti + Page One combo as you need one another to work, instead I am running King instead. Well Alber to play King for free, whilst also giving us enough DONs to play another big drop Character to put pressure against your opponents. This is the aim for this build, although, you could run Ulti + Page One as well as Alber + King, but I think we would have to make some sacrifices.

The Ramp

There's not much ramp cards compare to other deck that focuses on ramp as we don't return a lot of DONs back to deck which is why I personally think these cards are enough. OP05 Kid and OP08 Pudding has really similar effects, except Kid is also a Blocker we could use to stop your opponent's attacks. Both effect triggers when a DON on your field is returned to DON deck. OP05 Kid will let you add a DON as active whilst Pudding lets you add a DON as rest. What I like about these cards is that if you could get both in play and return 1 DON, you will get 2 DONs on the field instead, acting like an extra ramp.

Jet Gatling is mainly for the ramp effect, but if you don't need the ramp, then the counter effect would be very useful. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader or Characters gain 3k power during this battle just like any other colours. The Trigger effect is simply add 1 DON as active which is useful during the early turns if you see this card in your Life area, but late game we can just focus on the counter effect.

Onigashima Island is our main card, once we see this in our opening hand, it makes everything so much easier for this build, which is also why I am not running a lot of ramp cards in this build, especially combining with Kaido's Leader effect. The effect is very simple, you may rest this Stage, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates type, add 1 DON as rest.

Removals

There's is one card that can act as a removal which is King, but I will put him in a different section. Let's talk about the former Four Emperors in this build. OP01 Kaido is a board wipe. Most of the time, you won't need him, but he is very good especially when your opponents has a board presence over you, then we play OP01 Kaido to level the playing field. The effect works on play, by returning 6 DONs, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates type, KO all Characters other than this card. The only reason why you don't want to play this card is that we also lose our own Characters, but it won't matter if your opponents have the advantage of Characters.

OP08 Big Mom is technically a removal, except we don't remove that Character for good, instead, it will just be stalling until your opponents can get to that Character. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON and trashing 1 card from your hand. Add the top card of your deck to top of your Life. Then, add 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters to their top or bottom of the Life area face up. We do get a Life gain which is why I am running Big Mom in this build, although, you do not have to if you don't like it as we have plenty of options we can choose from.

Lastly, ST04 Kaido is still one of the best card in my opinion if your builds have ramp. The on play effect is by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less. Then this card gains Rush. So not only we are able to KO your opponent's Characters, but the Rush ability means we can attack as soon as Kaido hits the field. Plus being a 9 drop means we can give 1 DON to the Leader, then play this card so we could get that little ramp when we remove your opponent's Characters.

Alber (King)

Spoiler Alert: "If you didn't know, Alber and King are the same people, this is only for people who doesn't follow the series and only like the card game mechanics." No surprise that Alber basically transform into King with the effect. Alber's effect is an activate main effect where you trash this Character, if your Leader is Animal Kingdom Pirates type and you have 10 DONs on your field, play up to one 7 cost or less King from your hand. The good news about Alber is that he is a 5k beat stick, so we can attack with Alber first, then use the effect to play King from our hand for free. I guess the only downside is getting 10 DONs, but shouldn't be hard for this build if you can get it working.

For King, I am only running ST04 version of King as I do like the effect over the other King Characters we got for One Piece currently. The effect works on play, by returning 2 DONs, KO up to 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. Yes we do lose 2 DONs, but at least it give us 8 DONs to work with if we play King using Alber's effect. Although hard playing King for 6 DONs shouldn't be too difficult at all for this build.

Draw

Now the draw power cards except Kaya who is more of a hand filter card rather than a card that focus on increasing your hand size. Kaya works on play, draw 2 cards and trash 2 cards from hand. I think she's very good in your opening hand as you need to search out one of the key card Onigashima. Plus she is also a 2k counter, so if you don't need to use her effect, the 2k counter will come in handy during the counter step.

OP05 Kaido is also nice to have in this build as if you can get your opponents down to certain Life, then he will become very effective. The effect works on play, draw 4 cards if your opponent has 3 or less Life. Personally, this shouldn't be hard to do and if you can get 10 DONs as soon as possible, we could get a massive hand size during the early turn.

The one advantage to ST04 Queen is that he is an Animal Kingdom Pirate allowing us to search him out from the deck easily as well as being a Blocker. The on play effect is by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card. This is just a simple +1 in your hand, and if you get 2 Queen on the field, then we could +2 in our hand whilst having double Blockers to strengthen the defence.

Searchers

The best thing about this build is that we've got the searchers to search for specific cards instead of drawing into the cards we need. 2 of those searchers are 1 drop which means we can use them on the very first turn and to search out Onigashima if you don't have Onigashima in your hand. OP04 Who's who works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Animal Kingdom Pirates type other than Who's Who and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

OP05 Ulti only works if your Leader is multicoloured which Kaido Leader is. The effect works on play, look at the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The best thing about Ulti is that we don't need to reveal what we put into our hand, and we can add any cards we want, on top of being a 5k beat stick to swing.

Claim the One Piece is an Event, but an Event that we can search and can be a great back up if we don't see Who's Who in our opening hand. The effect is if your Leader has Animal Kingdom Pirates or Big Mom Pirates type, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Animal Kingdom Pirates or Big Mom Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. So we could add Pudding or Big Mom into our hand if we need those cards, otherwise, it is mainly to search for Onigashima if you haven't seen the card in your opening hand. The trigger effect is just activate main.
