We have an expo in Osaka, and we have some card reveals in this video which is why I've created the post. We can also see the tournament results shown in this video and see what meta is in the game as I haven't been keeping up with the meta of GCG, and I must say, it makes 0 difference because the meta will be obvious.
Tournament
As expected, UP Barbatos wasn't really affected by the ban list. It was one of the worst ban list I've seen for a card game. GCG is not even balanced where you could win with any decks, so I never understand the ban list they have put up. What's new in the meta is the new Unicorn cards I think from GD04 set. Looks like we can also see another blue deck, UG using the OG Gundam series cards.
Although, the one improvement I see are red decks. Looks like red can finally become a meta deck only if you mix with White. But I guess the most important thing is who can make it to top 16 and that only matters when playing card games.
Top 16
Not surprising, UP Barbatos is still dominating in the game. We do need an emergency ban list, otherwise, top 16 will be very predictable, with UP Barbatos dominating. I have no grudge against Barbatos, I think it's a good gundam design. But we need to do something about this, or else, I don't think it's enjoyable to look at if you keep seeing large number of UP Barbatos reaching top 16 compare to other decks, might as well not play other decks.
ST10 + EB01
We have ST10 and EB01 releases on the same day which is good if you are a big fan of SDs, you can start modifying your decks straight away rather than waiting for a week. Although, you might be able to mix with GD sets unless the SD cards get SD lock requirements, only those cards can be used with this deck.
Cards
We have FA Thunderbolt, and I guess this works with any matches like 2v2 or Battle Royale which is what I like about this card. I know it's very basic, just resting an active units, and your opponent can choose their active units, which doesn't looks very good, unless they have 1 active unit on the field.
Now, we have the Pilot for Thunderbolt, Io. The effect works very well with Thunderbolt as we could get Repair 2 easily, since the effect only mentions rested Units and not only your opponents.
It seems to me SD Gundam are suited for more multi players game rather than 1v1. I hope this could also hint we could get a team tournament where we have 2v2 as a WCS. Anyway, the effect only works in multi players situation where we can bounce your opponent's Units. I don't think this effect would work in 1v1 though.
At least this card can work in 1v1 situation, but I am not sure if this is good or not, unless green can make use of the top cards of our deck.
I haven't seen Phoenix Gundam before, so I am guessing this Unit is only in the SD game. I mean, I don't mind the effect, we are basically removing 2 Units in 1 turn with this card which is definitely very useful.
I am guessing this is the Pilot for Phoenix Gundam, Mark. Mark is definitely useful as it prevents Phoenix Gundam from taking too much damage and not triggering the during pair effect.
Hopefully, this is the same for global, although, it does looks like the deck box is plastic which is disappointing, as those deck boxes aren't great to hold your cards.
