OP14 Green (Kuro) Deck Profile

There are plenty of new East Blue supports in OP14 set for Kuro deck, but I think for me is cramping everything together is the problem. There are plenty of cards you can run in this build as long as you can get 2 East Blue rested to trigger Kuro's effect. Of course, there will be some sacrifice that will be made if you want to cramp certain cards in the build.



OP14 Kuro





How it Works?

I do want to run more untapping DONs in the deck as this way, we could trigger Kuro Leader's effect easily, but needing at least 2 East Blue is a must, and if you run low numbers, you won't be able to use the Leader's effect easily. It's not like you want to use the Leader's effect early either unless you want to wipe your opponent's Characters, so you want the right timing so we can force some counters from your opponent's hand.

As you can see I am running both East Blue and Slash engine in this deck since most of the EB cards are Slash Characters, so we can make use of Perona in the deck. For the non Slash EB Characters, we can use Nami to search for those cards, but there are not a lot of non Slash EB Characters.


Untapping


Untapping DONs could really help Kuro's effect as we need to use 3 DONs just to make Kuro attack twice per turn. Although, Jango mainly untap Leader or Characters instead of DON, which is also helpful. OP13 Uta is a nice edition to the build as this card have 2 effects. The first effect works on play, untap 2 DONs. Then, you cannot play base cost of 5 or more Characters for the turn. As long as we can fill up the field with EB Characters to use, this won't matter. The second effect works on KO, play one 5 cost or less Characters from your hand rested. Unfortunately, that card will be the target of attack depending on what you would play on the field, unless you play Perona or Nami to get the searcher effect going.

OP03 Jango is not a Slash Character which is surprising for me considering the Navy version is a Slash Character, plus Jango also uses Chakram weapon even when he was in Kuro Pirates unless I remembering it wrong since that was a long time ago. Anyway, the effect works on play, choose 1 of the following, untap your EB Leader or 1 of your EB 6 cost or less Characters, or rest this Character to rest 1 of your opponent's Characters. Either of these option will be very useful, the untapping would make our Kuro Leader be able to attack up to 3 times assuming you have extra DONs, or we could rest your opponent's Characters to swing into them.

OP13 Shanks is the final card where we can make Kuro go all out, but that is only if the timing is right as we don't want to waste this effect. The effect works on play, untap all of your DONs. Then, you cannot play cards from your hand. This effect will restrict us from playing cards from our hand, and we don't have activate main cards who can play Characters with effects, which is why we want to save Shanks in hand as long as possible so we could make Kuro go all out if needed. Well I guess, you can always focus on taking out your opponent's Characters as well as having a 12k beat stick on the field.

Prevention



The 2 EB Characters that have some sort of effects to stop your opponents from doing what they want. OP14 Yosaku is the best addition for Kuro as not only this is an EB Character, but also only got 2 to play which would allow us to have enough DONs for Kuro's effect. The effect works during your turn, when this Character becomes rested, 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters cannot become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. Unfortunately, we can only target low cost Characters, so if your opponent has a lot of high cost, then, this effect would become useless.

OP12 Koushiro is a Blocker but can protect your low cost Characters from KO effects. Of course, there are other ways to remove your Characters than just KO effects. The effect is if your 5 or cost or less Slash Character except this Character would be KO'd by your opponent's effect, you may rest this Character instead.

Free Play    


The cards who can play stuff for free so we can fill up the field easily. ST12 Mihawk would work with most of the Characters in this build. The effect works on play, if you have 2 or less Characters, play one 4 cost or less Muggy Kingdom or Slash attribute Character other than Mihawk from your hand rested. The downside of this effect is that Character comes in as rested, and if that is a EB Character, your opponents would want to remove the card.

OP03 Hatchan can only be played for free using the trigger effect which is if your Leader has EB type, play this card. We can also play this card using Mihawk's effect but I rather keep the card in the hand for the 2k counter. As the 4k power would be really hard to protect, especially if your opponent decide to power up the cards with DONs.

Lastly, OP14 Kuro is the card that makes me want to bring back this build. The effect works on play, if your Leader is Kuro, play one 6 cost or less EB Character from your hand. Unfortunately for the 6 drops, we don't really have another 6 drop aside from Krieg who could make a huge impact once they hit the field. So making this card does feel pointless right now unless we get more EB Characters.

Double Attack


The 2 cards that can provide Double Attack, so we can focus on taking out your opponent's Characters, then, with Double Attack, we could try taking your opponent's Life area in one go. EB02 Buggy has some restriction, but this is a card where you want your opponents to KO this card. The effect works on play, if you have no other Buggy Characters, 1 of your Leader gains Double Attack this turn. If you can make Kuro Leader untap, we could force some pressure against your opponents. The trigger effect is rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters.

OP03 Kreig is the only suitable 6 drop EB card that could be a threat against your opponent, even though this card is pretty old. We do have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand, KO up to 2 of your opponent's rested 4 cost or less Characters. This might be difficult to trigger as we don't really have much rest effect in this build. The second effect will need you to attach a rested DON for Krieg to gain Double Attack.

The Supports


The rest of the supports for the deck, 2 of them are searchers as searcher are always helpful. OP12 Perona is our 1 drop searcher. The effect works on play, if your Leader have the Slash attribute, look at top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Slash attribute Character or 1 green Event and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. You could hit and miss with this effect, but majority of the deck is filled with Slash Characters.

OP03 Nami is a searcher for EB Characters which this deck also runs plenty of so we could search the cards we want. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 green EB card except Nami and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. We also have a trigger effect which is play this card, so we could have enough EB Characters for Kuro's effect.

Kouzaburo is one of our rest effect card, but I am running this card mainly for the 2k counter, but you can play this card to the field, if you need an EB Character for Kuro's effect. The effect works on play, rest 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. Then, KO 1 of your opponent's base cost of 1 or less Characters.
