PRB02 Red/Green (Smoker) Deck Profile

I do like the new supports from PRB02 set, and combined with OP12 set, we have a decent Smoker build to use. Although, the build is not a huge change compare to OP11 build, as we need to keep the core Punk Hazard cards as well as Mole Gun, so the build will be pretty similar to OP11 build. What I did was only take out the non Punk Hazard cards to fit the new cards in the build.



PRB02 Smoker





How it Works?

I've kept the build mainly focused on Punk Hazard and Navy, so we could search those cards from the deck. What we do have is the new addition of Bonney and Mihawk which would allow us to untap more DONs and not to rely on Smoker only for untapping. This would give us room to play high cost Events as well as play more cards. Not only that, we could also power up our cards along with Kujyaku, so we could swing with more power against your opponent's cards, either forcing them to use more counters or take the hit.


Untapping


Previously, we would have to rely on the Leader and OP10 Smoker's effect to untap DONs. Thanks to the cards from OP12, we can now untap more DONs, and not rely on OP10 Smoker to untap DONs, especially if we don't draw that card to our hand. OP10 Smoker does have Banish keyword, and Banish can put some pressure against your opponents if they have Life cards. The effect is an activate main, untap 1 of your DON. Then, you cannot untap DON with Character's effect this turn. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use Bonney or Mihawk's effect if you use this effect first.

OP12 Bonney is a Blocker, but the effect is very situational, and not good for early plays for a 5 drop Character. You would need to wait until you can reach the requirements to play this card. The effect works on play, if you have 8 or more rested cards, draw 2 card and trash 1 card from your hand. Then, untap 1 DON.  We also get to draw cards which is very handy as we have a few non counters in this build.

OP12 Mihawk is also a Blocker, so for defence wise, we can easily stop your opponent's attacks without the need to use counters. The effect works on play, untap up to 4 of your DONs. Then, you cannot play base cost of 7 or more Characters for this turn. The only other card with 7 cost or more is Hody, so you shouldn't have much difficulties in playing the Characters. Untapping 4 DONs also enable you a lot different plays as being an 8k Character, we can also trigger the Leader's effect to untap 2 more DONs, so you could get 6 untap DONs in 1 turn.

Power


As for the power cards, only 1 of them gain power during your turn, whilst the rest works during your opponent's turn. OP10 Sanji is very good in this build, as it is one of the cards we can trigger Smoker's Leader effect easily, without the need of the high cost Characters. The first effect works during your turn, this Character gains 3k power, making Sanji a 6k beat stick. This is very important as you could use Kujyaku or attaching 1 DON to hit the magic number 7k so we can untap 2 DONs with the Leader's effect. The second effect works on KO, draw 1 card, so it won't be a huge lost if Sanji is KO'd, as you can draw an extra card.

OP10 Chopper with Smoker's Leader power up effect works wonder. As you know Chopper is a Blocker with an effect that works during your opponent's turn. This Character gains 2k power, making Chopper a 6k Blocker. Combine this with Smoker's power bonus, since Chopper is a Punk Hazard Character, you can get a 7k Blocker which is not bad for a 4 drop, we would be able to stop an attack pretty easily.

PRB02 Koby is similar to OP10 Chopper when it comes to power bonuses. Koby has 2 effects, the first effect works during your opponent's turn, if your Leader is Navy type, this Character gains 1k power. Combined this with Smoker's Leader effect and will have a 7k power during your opponent's turn thanks to being a Navy card, and we wouldn't need to use too much counters if your opponent is trying to remove Koby from the field. The second effect works when attacking, KO 1 of your opponent's 3k base power or less Characters. Then, if you have 6 or less cards in your hand, draw 1 card. I mainly use the draw power as we can burn through our hand easily with the amount of untapping DONs we've got in this build.

Searchers


There are 2 different searchers in this build, but it is pretty much the same as the OP11 build where we are mixing 2 different type of engine to the build. OP10 Vergo is a searcher for Punk Hazard, and Punk Hazard is the main engine we are focusing on. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck other than Vergo and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

Kujyaku is a different type of searcher as she is a searcher for Navy. Some of the Punk Hazard cards are also Navy type, so we can still hit a few if we are lucky enough to see the search effect. Kujyaku has 2 effects, The first effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Navy card other than Kujyaku and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The second effect is an activate main effect where you can trash this Character, 1 of your Characters gains 1k power this turn. This is very useful especially if you want to trigger your Leader's effect.

The Supports


The rest of the supports is pretty simple as these 3 cards are a must need for the build. OP10 Tashigi can be a downside for this build as I am not running a lot of green Characters. The effect is if you have a green Character other than Tashigi is removed from your field by your opponent's effects, you may rest this Character instead. I guess Tashigi would be useful in protecting some of our high cost Characters for the green side.

PRB02 Law is a great addition for Punk Hazard build. Law has 2 effects, the first effect is if this Character would be removed by your opponent's effects, you may reduce this Character's power by 2k instead for the turn. This would help to protect Law from leaving the field, and plus we got Smoker's Leader effect to power up this card during your opponent's turn. The second effect works when attacking, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters by 2k for the turn. The only Character in this build with a power reducer, giving us the ability to hit high power Characters more easily.

Hody is in the deck for resting, and just like Law, this is the only Character with a rest effect. Although, I am not only running Hody for the rest effect as we also got Rush ability, which is very useful. The effect works on play, rest up to total of 2 of your opponent's Characters or DONs. Then, add the top of your Life cards to your hand.

Events


The Events aren't different from my previous build, I've only added Dead's Man Game because we've got a nice main effect we could use. The main effect is you may rest 3 DONs to rest up to total of 2 of your opponent's Characters or DONs. This effect is cheaper than Hody as we only need to pay 4 DONs altogether instead of 7, and especially useful after you used Mihawk's effect who prevents you from playing Hody for that turn. The counter effect is your Leader gains 3k power for the turn, so we won't be able to protect our Characters with this Event.

Igloo being a 2 cost Event counter is not difficult to use since we can untap plenty of DONs in this build. The counter effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power for the battle. Then, reduce 1 of your opponent's Leader or Characters by 2k for the turn. The effect is not much, but losing 2k power can be a huge difference, especially if they have used up all their DONs for that turn. The trigger effect is your Leader or 1 of your Character gains 1k power for this turn.

Mole Pistol is the only removal in this build, but a very strong removal to boot as we could target some high power Characters. The effect is reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 5k for this turn. Then, if you have a Character with 6k power or more, KO 1 of your opponent's 2k power or less Characters. This is not difficult to do as we mainly focused on high power Characters on the field. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
