Well, looks like Bonney is still going strong especially with OP10 support for the build. We still got support from EB02 set, so this might be one of the best decks where we can get constantly support and not worry about the ban list. Not like that matters when rotation comes around, and Bonney might be affected considering we've got some old sets in this build, unless they put some exceptions on a few cards.
OP10 Bonney |
---|
Leader Character (47) Event (3) |
How it Works?
I've tried to cramp as much cards as possible in one build, there might be some cards in this build we could replace for other cards, but it really depends on your style. I went with a defensive approach, running plenty of Blockers along with Bonney's Leader effect to stop your opponent's attacks easily. Of course, there are also some beat stick in this build that could put some threat against your opponents and not just being on the defensive side of thing for the build. After all, this build is a deck that tries to stop your opponent's attacks as much as possible whilst we could also deal some damage to your opponents.
Resting
Resting in this build might not do much, but we could stop Blockers from activating, or attacking into those rested Characters to reduce your opponent's board. EB01 Apoo works on play, rest 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. Apoo is mainly for the 2k counter as resting 2 cost or less will mostly be pointless unless that Character is a threat on the field. Maybe in future sets where 1 drop have additional effects that we could target.
ST02 Apoo is mainly resting your opponent's DONs. You could run 4 ST02 version and 2 EB01 if you prefer DONs over Characters. Both will have 2k counters, so the only difference will be the effect. You will need to attach a DON for Apoo to work. The effect works when attacking, rest 1 of your opponent's DON cards. You only need 1 DON, but you will need another DON if you want to hit your opponent's Leader. Although you can always target your opponent low cost Characters.
OP07 Hawkins is optional as if you can get the effect going, you could potentially rest more of your opponent's Characters for free. Hawkins has 2 effects, the first effect is if your Leader is SN, this Character gains Blocker, so we could have a 7k Blocker. The second effect works once per turn, if this Character would be removed from your field by your opponent's effects, you may rest 1 of your opponent's Characters instead. We can weaken your opponent choices when they use removal effects on your Characters.
Hody is no doubt a staple in this deck which is why I am running Hody in this build. He has Rush with an on play effect, rest up to total of 2 of your opponent's Characters or DONs. Then, add the top card from your Life area to your hand. The Rush and the option to rest your opponent's DONs or Characters is very useful. Of course we lose a Life, but that doesn't matter too much as we have got plenty of defensive cards.
Prevention
As for the prevention, we've got plenty of cards to stop your opponents from doing what they want. OP05 Corazon is a Blocker with an effect that works during your opponent's turn. If your rested Characters would be KO'd, you may trash this Character instead. Along with OP10 Tashigi, we can get some nice protection for your Characters on your field.
OP10 Tashigi is good against returning effects whilst Corazon is only good against KO'd effects. The effect is if you have a green Character other than Tashigi is removed from your field by your opponent's effects, you may rest this Character instead. Thanks to this effect, we won't have to worry about other effects that could remove your Characters, as Corazon can protect against KO'd whilst Tashigi protect against other removal effects.
Then we have Carrot, pretty much the replacement of OP07 Bonney since Carrot can work on play or when attacking. The effect is up to 1 of your opponent's 7 cost or less rested Characters will not become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. Although, we are restricted to 7 cost or less, but they can usually stop beat sticks from attacking your cards.
OP01 Kid is still very good for an old card as we have plenty of low cost Characters we can play using Kid's effect as well as making your opponents focused on their attack on Kid. Kid has 2 effects, the first effect will require you to attach a DON for the effect to work. The effect works during your opponent turn, if this Character is rested, your opponent cannot attack any other cards other than Kid. The second effect is an activate main effect, you may rest this Character to play one 3 cost or less Character from your hand. This will let you play Tashigi or Corazon for free whilst also triggering the first effect to redirect the attacks to Kid, so you would have plenty of protection.
Lastly we've got 10 drop Doffy, Doffy will be very effective during the mid to late game when your opponent has more Characters on the field. The effect works on play, up to total of 3 of your opponent's rested Leader or Characters cannot become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. The downside is that we would use all of our DONs, but I am running OP10 Smoker or EB01 Cavendish who would untap our DONs for Bonney's Leader effect.
Untapping DONs
Here we have 2 Characters who can untap DONs, and they will be very useful especially when we used up all of our DONs, and not leaving any room for Bonney's Leader effect. EB01 Cavendish works on play or when attacking, if your Leader is SN type and you have no other Cavendish on the field, you can untap 2 DONs.
Unfortunately, we need to use OP10 Smoker's effect last if we've got Cavendish on the field, as Smoker will shut down any untapping DONs effect from your Characters. Smoker does have Banish and this can put some pressure against your opponents. The effect is an activate main, untap 1 of your DON. Then, you cannot untap DON with Character's effect this turn.
Supernovas Supports
For the SN support we've got these cards, 2 of them are Blockers to stop your opponent's attacks, and the other is a searcher. Although 2 of the cards are optional and can be replaced for something else if needed. ST02 Bonney is a searcher and the effect is an activate main. By paying 1 DON and resting this Character, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Supernovas card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.
OP01 Killer is a Blocker but you will need certain amount of Characters on the field to trigger the effect, and you will also need to attach a DON on Killer to work. The effect works on KO, if you have 3 or more Characters, draw 1 card. This effect is to give you some draw power, since we are lacking the draw stuff in this build to increase our hand size.
OP07 Barto is another Blocker with an effect that works on your turn. Once per turn, if a Character is rested by your effect, draw 1 card and trash 1 card. We've got plenty of rest effects, so we can easily trigger Barto's effect to filter out the hand, especially when there are a large number of non counters in our hand, so you don't want a non counter hand.
Other Supports
For the other supports that I can't fit are these cards. ST16 Shanks is the only removal in this deck and also a power higher than 10 drop Doffy in the build, so we can force some number of counters from your opponent's hand, or make them use their Blockers. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's rested Characters. The best part of this effect is that we can KO any Character as long as they are rested which is not difficult to do.
Because of Justice is a 0 Event Counter card where the counter effect is very standard and all colours will have this effect. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card in your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Character gains 3k power this turn. The trigger effect is rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. Both effect will be very handy and will depends on what you need at that time.
