It has been a while since I last posted a Digimon deck, but with the recent release of BT20. I get to play with one of my favourite decks, BlackImperial. I have been waiting for this support for a very long time, and now that we have got some decent supports, the deck is now pretty good. You will still have to rely on using the trash area, since this is what this deck does, but at least we got more access to the cards we can choose from.

How it Works?
As you can see, the build have changed dramatically compare to BT16 version, except the rookies line up is mainly the same, since we need those effects. The BT20 options are optional, but running BT20 Wormmon wouldn't hurt as it has Retaliation just like EX3 Wormmon, plus the main effect which could work really well with promo Shadramon. Unfortunately, promo Shadramon is a must if you want to get the deck going, it is really hard to find a replacement for that card.
Anyway, for this build, we still utilised the trash area which is why I am running plenty of mill cards as well as cards who could send the cards from our hand to the trash, so we can bring back those Digimon with our effects. BT20 Fighter Mode is our key card, as we managed to swipe your opponent's security as well as deleting their Digimon. This is why combining with EX3 Dragon Mode is a must as Dragon Mode forces your opponents to have 1 Digimon, then BT20 Fighter Mode can delete the last Digimon, clearing up your opponent's board.
EX3 Wormmon is a Digimon that must be hard play even if this is the only rookie in your hand, because you can search and mill specific Digimon, which can set up for later turns. The other rookies can be hard played if you want to make DNA Digivolving a lot easier, but they can be played for free using promo Shadramon. We also need to play our mill cards since we want to have more options in the trash, so BT16 Dinobeemon and EX3 Paildramon can play the Lv5s from the trash to DNA digivolve into Dragon Mode.
Imperialdramons
The only Imperialdramon I've kept is EX3 Dragon Mode, I've pretty much replaced the others with the new Imperialdramon from BT20. There is a main reason why we need EX3 Dragon Mode which I've already explained how it combines with BT20 Fighter Mode. Anyway, BT20 Dragon Mode Ace is a card I feel 1 is enough, 2 is a bit much since EX3 Dragon Mode plays a major role. You really only want to increase the copies if you really care about digivolving into Fighter Mode from trash. You can still perform DNA Digivolve using 1 Lv5 purple and 1 Lv5 red Digimon. The effect works on play or when digivolving, delete 1 of your opponent's 11k DP or less Digimon. Then, if DNA digivolve, you may digivolve into Fighter Mode from your hand or trash. To be honest, with the help of Blast DNA Digivolve, this shouldn't be too difficult to trigger, but 11k DP or less is a low number these days considering people have 12k Digimon as their main.
EX3 Dragon Mode is our main card of the deck, it is especially useful if your opponent goes wide which is what a lot of deck does these days, or we pass the memory to your opponent's turn. Just like Ace, we can DNA Digivolve using 1 Lv5 purple and 1 Lv5 red Digimon. Then, we have 2 effects, the first effect works when digivolve, if you DNA Digivolve, your opponent chooses 1 Digimon, delete all of their other Digimon. Then, Blitz. Blitz is definitely very helpful as sometime we must pass the memory to your opponent's turn to activate certain effect. The second effect works when attacking, this Digimon gains 2k DP for the turn, then this Digimon may digivolve into Fighter Mode in your hand for the digi cost. The second effect is very important, because the more power we can give to BT20 Fighter Mode, the more DP we can target our opponent's Digimon.
BT20 Fighter Mode makes the deck a lot quicker to deplete your opponent's security, and it is way better than EX3 Fighter Mode who is just a one time used only, even though that card is secret rare. You can digivolve on top of Dragon Mode for 2, we have Raid and Piercing, 2 deadly combination of keywords. Not only we can take out unsuspended Digimon, but your opponents will also need to do security checks. We have 2 effects just like EX3 Dragon Mode. The first effect works when digivolving, your opponent can't play Digimon or Tamers by effect until the end of their turn. Then, if Dragon Mode is in this Digimon's digi source, trash the top card of your opponent's security stack. This effect is not bad, we can stop your opponents from playing cards for free as well as trashing the security stack, making it easier to reduce the number of attacks needed to hit your opponent's security. The second effect works all turns, when your opponent's security stack is removed, delete 1 of your opponent's Digimon with as much or less than this Digimon's DP. This effect work against Blinding Ray, but since that card is now limited, we won't see as much this used during your opponent's turn.
DNA Digivolving
This is where things get a bit difficult as I like all of these cards, but you can't run a lot of copies or otherwise, your Lv5 line up will be a lot compare to the other levels. BT16 Dinobeemon is still a must need because of Partition, and Partition will come in handy. You can perform DNA Digivolve by using 1 purple Lv4 and 1 red Lv4 Digimon. It has Raid and Partition purple Lv4 and red Lv4.BT16 Dinobeemon only has when digivolve effect, if DNA Digivolve, you may play 1 Lv5 or less Free trait Digimon without paying the cost. Then, 1 of your Digimon gains Rush for the turn and attack a player. We can do some extra attack with this effect and hope that your opponents doesn't have any security effects that could remove your Digimon. For the inherited effect it is just the same Partition effect as the main's effect.
BT20 Dinobeemon is great as we have a lot of mill, so we could end up milling certain cards we might need in our hand. Just like BT16 version, you can perform DNA Digivolve by using 1 purple Lv4 and 1 red Lv4 Digimon. BT20 Dinobeemon has 2 effects, the first effect works on play or when digivolving, you may return 1 Digimon with Imperialdramon or Free in its traits from your trash to the hand. This is very useful because of the mill we are running in this deck in which you could accidently mill the cards you need. The second effect works all turns, when any of your Dinobeemon or Paildramon would be returned to hand or deck, 2 of your Digimon may digivolve into Dragon Mode in your hand. This way we could trigger Dragon Mode's when digivolving effect before the cards get returned. The inherited effect is this Digimon doesn't activate any security effects on Option cards it checks, preventing those Option cards from triggering.
BT20 Paildramon would work especially well with BT16 Dinobeemon and BT20 Fighter Mode. You can perform DNA digivolve using 1 red Lv4 and 1 purple Lv4 Digimon. Just like BT20 Dinobeemon, we've got 2 effects, the first effect works on play or when digivolving, 1 of your Digimon gains Piercing and gains 4k DP. Then, this Digimon may attack. This is optional as we mainly want the power boost to power up Imperialdramon. The second effect works all turns, when any of your Paildramon or Dinobeemon would be deleted, 2 of your Digimon may digivolve into Dragon Mode in your hand. We can trigger this effect more than BT20 Dinobeemon since there's only blue colour decks who return cards whilst deleting can mean a lot of things. The inherited effect is just security attack +1.
Now I have kept EX3 Paildramon because of the main effect, since we cannot always rely on BT16 Dinobeemon to play our Lv5 Digimon from the trash. EX3 Paildramon can be a good back up if we need the effect. Just like BT20 Paildramon, you can perform DNA digivolve by using 1 red Lv4 and 1 purple Lv4 Digimon. Then, we have 2 effects, the first effect works the best when DNA digivolve, you may play 1 Dinobeemon from your trash without paying their cost. The second effect works on deletion, you may play 1 Veemon from your trash without paying the cost. Although I am not running a lot of Veemon in the deck since we focus more on Wormmon. The inherited effect is while this Digimon has Imperialdramon in its name, it gains Security Attack +1. This shouldn't be a problem to trigger since we only have Imperialdramon as the Lv6s.
The Champions
Unfortunately, I can't write Armor Form as the subheading because of ExVeemon who is just a Free Digimon whilst the rest are Armor Form Digimon. The line up is pretty much the same with the except of ExVeemon who is the latest addition to the build. Both EX3 Shadramon and EX3 Flamedramon have the same effect except with 1 change, and that is the colour you digivolve into when you use their effects. Shadramon's when digivolving effect gives you 2 choices, either 1 of your other Digimon can digivolve into 1 red Lv4 Free trait Digimon from your trash by for the cost, or this Digimon and one of your other Digimon can DNA Digivolve into a Digimon from your hand. The inherited effect works at the end of your turn, this Digimon and 1 of your other Digimon can DNA digivolve into a Digimon from your hand. Flamedramon's effect is the exact same as Shadramon with the exception instead of digivolving 1 red Lv4 Free trait Digimon from your trash, you choose 1 purple Lv4 Free trait Digimon instead.
BT20 ExVeemon is actually very good since you can hard play this card for 4, then DNA Digivolve if you need another Lv4 Digimon on the field. The effect works on play or when digivolving, delete 1 of your opponent's 3k DP or less Digimon. Then, if it's your turn, 2 of your Digimon may DNA digivolve into a Imperialdramon or Free trait in your hand. This is similar to EX3 Shadramon and Flamedramon where we can perform DNA Digivolve, however, we are not restricted to Lv5s as we can DNA Digivolve into Imperialdramon if we need to. The inherited effect works your turn, this Digimon gains 2k DP, giving more power to your other Digimon so we don't have to worry about security Digimon.
Promo Shadramon is the key card of the deck. It what makes this deck work and unfortunately, without promo Shadramon, the deck will be slower since we won't be able to spam Digimon from the trash to digivolve on top, then DNA digivolve. You can digivolve on top of Wormmon for 2 instead of digivolving for 3, then we've got a when digivolving effect. You may play 1 Veemon or Wormmon from your trash suspended without paying the cost. Suspended Digimon doesn't really matter for this deck as we can DNA digivolve and have unsuspended Digimon instead. The inherited effect works on deletion, you may play 1 Veemon or Wormmon from your hand suspended without paying the cost. The inherited effect will help us recover some Digimon if your opponent manages to delete Imperialdramon.
The Rookies
The rookies line up is not surprising as I've basically kept it the same with the new addition of BT20 Wormmon. I do think BT20 Wormmon you can run 2 copies and 3 Veemon since we do want to digivolve promo Shadramon on top for 2, and having Veemon can ruin that chance. BT16 Wormmon can be digivolve on top of Minomon for 0, so we can digivolve on top of the digitama. The main effect works at the start of your main phase or on play, if its your turn, 1 of your Digimon may digivolve into a Lv4 with Insectroid or Free trait Digimon from your trash with the digivolution cost reduced by 1. This is useful as we will be milling a lot of cards, giving you the choices to choose from. The inherited effect works when attacking, suspend 1 of your opponent's Digimon. Although not really useful with Fighter Mode who has Raid and Piercing, but for other Digimon, this effect can come in handy.
Honestly, I am running BT20 Wormmon mainly for the main effect, although the inherited effect will be more useful than EX3 Wormmon. The effect works on play, by trashing 1 card from your hand, 1 of your opponent's Digimon gains on deletion, lose 1 memory, until the end of their turn. This effect works really well with Raid and removal effects as we will gain a memory when that Digimon is deleted. This is also why, you can run 2 copies in the deck and 3 Veemon. The inherited effect is Retaliation.
EX3 Wormmon is the main card of the deck, without this card, the deck won't run as smoothly, and we would have to rely on random mill to mill the cards from the deck instead. The effect works on play, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 purple/red with Free trait card or 1 Imperialdramon among them to your hand, and trash 1 among them. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck. The inherited effect is while you have a red Digimon in play, this Digimon gains Retaliation. The only downside to this inherited is that we need a red Digimon in play compare to BT20 version, but I guess that is not hard to do.
I am mainly running EX3 Veemon for the inherited effect to power up our Digimon even more. I rarely use the main effect unless I got certain Digimon in my hand that I want to send to the trash. The on play effect is by trashing 1 Imperialdramon in its name or 1 Free trait Digimon from your hand, draw 2 cards. If you really need the draw power, then you can hard play Veemon to see if the hand could be better. The inherited effect is if you have a purple Digimon in play, this Digimon gains 2k DP.
Mill
The mill cards as we want this to be similar to Beelzemon build, but we don't need too much mill as long as we can get certain cards to the trash. Afterall, it is why we hard play EX3 Wormmon to get the cards we need. Analog Youth is the only Tamer in the build, I've tried adding memory setter, but I ended playing Analog Youth more than memory setter since I want the mill and search. Analog Youth have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 Digimon among them and trash the remaining cards. This is the main effect I want, although the second effect can be very useful, especially when you have multiple Analog Youth in play. The second effect works all turn, when one of your Lv5 or higher Digimon with digi sources is deleted, you may suspend this Tamer to gain 1 memory and hatch 1 digiegg into an empty breeding area. The memory bonus will be very handy as we are not running any memory setter in this build, so we would have to rely on this effect.
Another card we can rely on gaining memory is Mist Memory Boost, however, if your opponent has memory blockers, then Mist Memory Boost will be useless. Luckily, those memory blockers are rookies, meaning our Minomon's inherited can delete those Digimon with ease. The main effect is mill the top 2 cards of your deck and draw a card. Then, place this card in your battle area. So not only we get the mill, but we can also draw a card to increase our hand size. The second effect is a delay effect where you can gain 2 memory. This would be very useful if you are planning to hard play certain cards so you can DNA digivolve your way up to Imperialdramon.
The 1 of
Moving on to the classic cards, I think I can call them classic now since they are really old cards, and we are moving on to BT21 set. I am only running 1 of, as they work best at 1, well 1 of them is limited which is another reason why it is at 1 copy in the deck. Demonic Disaster can provide an additional attack, and this Imperialdramon deck does take time to set up, so having this card in build is really useful. The main effect is delete 1 of your Digimon to unsuspend 1 of your purple Digimon. This shouldn't be a problem to activate as we mainly want to use it on Fighter Mode, so we can end up finishing your opponents on that turn instead of waiting for the next turn. The security effect is you may play 1 Lv3 purple Digimon from your trash without paying the memory cost. Any on play effect played with this effect does not activate. The security effect can help us play more rookies if we are lucky enough to trigger this at the right time.
Calling from the Darkness can be really useful, especially with the random mill in the deck, and we could milled the cards we need. The main effect is delete 1 of your Digimon, then return up to 2 purple Digimon from your trash to your hand. Again, this shouldn't be too much of a problem as the main cards we want have both red and purple colour, and the rookie you want in hand is EX3 Wormmon. The security effect is just add this card to your hand.
