Godzilla Card Game 2025

Gozilla Card Game, for anyone wondering, yes this game was released before in Chrono Clash and I'm guessing it must have died. Chrono Clash was okay with the only drawback is that they replaced text with symbols. I don't think this was good idea especially for new players as they need to read the rulebook for what each symbol does on the cards which made teaching much more difficult.

Now, I don't know anything about Godzilla and the series, but they use Kaiju, so similar to other series, and I think Gozilla is a very old series, older than Ultraman I think. According to the site, the game is from Bushiroad. From my experience of Bushiroad, most of their games doesn't have long shelve life as most of the time, they shut the game down within a few years whether they are card games or mobile games. Of course, there are exceptions, Weiss Schwarz because its anime, and we don't have any other anime card games other than Union Arena in En format compare to JP format, and Cardfight Vanguard. But personally, they've killed the old formats like YGO and I liked the old formats in VG as it was more balanced, and even a random build can win in that format.

Anyway, I'll give Godzilla some time to settle, I do know their cards won't be cheap, it's been a pattern with every Bushiroad games I see especially Weiss Schwarz because of anime taxes. Although Bandai games is no exception and I don't expect the Gundam Card Game will be cheap to play which is why I'll be sacrificing Digimon Card Game. One main thing I am surprised about is that Godzilla will have simultaneous release for English and Japanese version. Why didn't Bushi does this with VG game? or maybe they have, as I haven't kept up with VG for a while, so I'm literally out of the blue. Even if they haven't, they might push for simultaneous release if Godzilla is popular, just like Bandai with Digimon. I like simultaneous release, you won't know what's the next meta by looking a JP format, and pricing of cards wouldn't suddenly jump in pricing.

For the Godzilla gameplay, looks like Bushi has done something different. I mainly expect a similarity between each of Bushi games to be honest, just like Bandai. This time, it seems we get to invade your opponent's board. So basically like Chess. Although it make sense since Kaiju invade Earth so why not have something similar. I am not sure about the win con as I'm just guessing from the images of the video. The win con looks like evolution, the first one to evolve your Kaiju wins. I'll have to wait for an English gameplay for this game.

Looks like to me Godzilla will have a slow game play as it will take turn for Kaiju to move up and there's 8 turns, and once we've reach 8, we can invade your opponent's field. Of course, there should be cards to stop your opponent's Kaiju, otherwise it will just be whoever invade wins. The damage looks like can stack to defeat a Kaiju in battle. But like I said, I'm just guessing until the English tutorial get revealed for this game.

The one thing main this I also noticed is that it is released in July. The same month as Gundam Card Game. I'm thinking of going all in on Gundam because I also want to try Tabletop Gunpla as well as the Card Game, but if Godzilla gameplay interests me, then I would need to think about it. Although my priority is Gundam unless Bandai decided to make Gundam like Digimon where we need a lot of promos in the deck. Then, I might change my mind and aim for Godzilla instead. Unfortunately, I can't have both card games at the same time, that would be the best solution, because I have a feeling both games will be expensive to build a deck because they are from Bushi and Bandai.
