OP16 Black/Yellow (Teach) Deck Profile

OP16 Blackbeard feels like OP14 Moria where we rely on trigger Characters and OP14 Doffy where we can redirect the attacks. We all know yellow is pretty expensive, and the new stuff doesn't make this deck cheap to build compare to OP09 Blackbeard build.

OP16 Blackbeard

How it Works?

Just like OP14 Moria, the deck will focus on the Trigger Characters and triggering their on KO effects. The deck does have plenty of Life gains, so you will be able to constant trigger some of the trigger effects in this build. Just like OP14 Doffy, you will be redirecting some attacks, only once per turn, but at least, we could stop a beat stick from hitting our Leader.

Life Gain

Personally, you shouldn't have much difficulties with pulling of Life gain as 2 of these cards are also BB Pirates, which make it much more easier to search them and add to hand. EB04 Kizaru only works if we have 2 or less Life cards, and we do start with 4 Life cards in this build. The effect works on play, if you have 2 or less Life cards, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area.

OP16 Shiryu is a different type of Life gain card as this card will need you to run BB Pirates in the build to work. The effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand, add one 6 cost or less BB Pirates from your trash to top of your Life area face up. You do want to specifically target Trigger Characters, unless you need certain cards in your hand. What's more is that you can also target Shiryu himself and use the on play effect on the next turn. The trigger effect is draw 2 cards which will be useful if you need the hand size.

OP14 Hancock only works with 7 Warlords Leader and Blackbeard does have the 7 Warlords type and not the Four Emperors. The effect works on play, if your Leader is 7 Warlord, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. Then, your opponent add the top card from their Life area to their hand. Not only we got the Life gain, but we can also remove your opponent's Life area which is especially effective if they only have 1 Life card left. The trigger effect is play one 6k or less Character and has Trigger from your hand.

I can see OP16 Blackbeard being used in other yellow builds as the effect is very strong. I've already got several decks where I can run this card in the build. The effect works on play, look at top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card to top of your Life area. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This effect is very strong, especially if you are looking to set up any Trigger effects like this build. The trigger effect is negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Characters this turn. Then, KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. Not only we can negate the effects but we can also KO your opponent's Characters which will be very helpful if we want to reduce the number of attacks.

Draw

Compare to the previous Blackbeard build, we do have plenty of draw power, and these cards all draw with an additional effect. The trigger effects are all the same which is activate this card's on KO effect. OP16 Doc Q works on KO, if your Leader is BB Pirates type, draw 1 card. Then, KO up to two 1 cost or less Characters. Unfortunately, I am not running any cost reducers in the build, so you will mostly be using this card for the draw power over the KO effect.

OP16 Shot is a better card to use as with the right time, you could easily stop your opponent's attacks. The effect on KO, draw 1 card and rest 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. Combined this with the Leader effect, you can stop 2 of your opponent's attacks in a turn, 1 by redirecting the attack whilst the other will be using Shot's rest effect.

OP16 Augur effect only works during your opponent's turn which shouldn't be difficult to do as we will have to rely on our Leader's effect to work. The effect works on KO, if your Leader is BB Pirates type, draw 1 card and your opponent's Leader or 1 of their Characters loses 3k power for the turn. 3k power can be very deadly, as this could make your opponent needing DONs to power up their attacks instead of playing cards.

OP16 Wolf is a card you want your opponent to hit, otherwise, you will need to use your Leader's effect if they are avoiding this card. The effect works on KO, if your Leader is BB Pirates type, draw 1 card. Then, your Leader or 1 of your Characters becomes 7k power for the turn. Of course, we want to use Wolf on our Leader rather than the Characters, so we don't have to use as much counters.

Power

The 2 power cards of the deck that can become beat sticks without the need of playing high cost Characters to the field. OP16 Devon has an effect that works exactly the same as EB01 Bon Clay's second effect. The effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters, this Character base power becomes the same as the selected Character power for the turn. So the higher the power, the more power we can give to Devon. The trigger effect is draw 1 card and play up to one 1 cost BB Pirates Character from your trash. This effect would be useful as we could play Shot from the trash and trigger the on KO effect to stop your opponent's attacks.

OP09 Burgess on works the best the longer the game becomes, where you have a lot of cards in your trash. The effect is this Character can't be KO'd by your opponent's effects. If your Leader is BB Pirates type, this Character gains 1k for every 4 cards in your trash. This effect is a continuous effect, and being preventing from KO forces your opponent to target our other cards. If you can get at least 12 cards in trash, Burgess will become a nice 8k beat stick on the field.

Blackbeard Pirates Supports

Most of these cards will require you to get the OP09 set for the very first BB Pirates supports. I have kept them in this build as these cards are still important for the build. OP09 Blackbeard is our 12k Blocker, but can be used for attacks if we need to push for that final damage. The effect is an activate main, if your Leader is BB Pirates type and this Character was played on this turn, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Leader during this turn. Then, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Characters and that Character cannot attack until the end of their turn. Not only this card can acts like a Blocker, but the effect is able to stop your opponents from attacking, combine with the Leader's effect, you could stop 3 attacks, including this card Blocker ability.

My Era Begins is a searcher for this deck as I am not running Laffite in the build. The effect is look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 BB Pirates card except My Era Begins and add it to your hand. Then, trash the rest. This can build up the cards in your trash for Burgess power effect. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect. The trigger effect is equally as important as this will save up 1 DON to play other cards.

Zehahaha is an Event that allow us to play OP09 Blackbeard a lot easier instead of paying the full 10 cost. The effect is if you have 10 DONs on your field, play 1 Blackbeard from your hand. Then, add 1 card from your opponent's Life area to the owner's hand. We still need to wait to have 10 DONs, but at least, we don't have to use up all of our DONs, and not to mention, we can also reduce your opponent's Life area, especially if they are on 1 Life card. The trigger effect is draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand.

Fullalead is another searcher, but this card is more permanent because it is a Stage card, so we don't have to worry about Laffite getting KO'd by your opponent's attacks, and can just use Fullalead for the search instead.  The effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand and rest this stage, look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 BB Pirates card and add it to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. You do need to discard a card which is the downside, but hopefully, the draw power from the deck will make up from the discarding you will be doing.
