OP16 Black (Yamato) Deck Profile

OP16 Yamato is 1 of the builds where we can build a deck just using OP16 cards, so you don't need to look for old cards if you haven't got them already. Its good for players who want to pick up OPCG without the need to find old cards. Anyway, I was wondering how this Yamato works, but once you have set up the trash, this deck pop off really easily.

OP16 Yamato

How it Works?

I guess the only old card you will need is Ground Death, but if you can't find any, there are plenty of replacement in OP16 set to use. Anyway, as I mentioned, you will be setting up the trash, sending specific Characters to that trash, so we can trigger Yamato Leader's effect. What I like about the Leader's effect is that it is not once per turn, so as long as you've got the right cards, you can easily do a lot of attacks in a turn.

Free Play

Setting up the trash is mainly for these cards where we can play Characters for free and also giving those Characters the Rush ability. 5 drop Momo is a card that has an activate main which is you may trash this Character with a cost of 20 or more, if you have 9 or more DONs, you may play one 9 cost Momo from your trash. 20 or more is not difficult to do as you will need to get Shinobu to hand to work.

6 drop Yamato is one of our key card for this deck as this card will be able to play our two 8 drop Yamato in the build. Yamato has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, draw 1 and trash 1 card from your hand. This would allow us to set up specific cards we need to the trash. The second effect is an activate main, you may trash this Character to play one 8 drop black Yamato from your trash. Of course, you want to attack with this card before using the effect as we do have a 5k beat stick.

Unblockable Yamato is one of the 8 drops we can play from out trash, and having Unblockable keyword, you don't have to worry about Blockers. The effect works on KO, play one 6 cost or less Yamato from your trash. The one card you want to aim is the 6 drop Yamato, so we can reuse these 2 cards constantly.

The other 8 drop Yamato is more about setting up the field and returning cards from your trash to your hand. The effect works on play, add one 6 cost or less Wano Character from your trash to hand. Then, play one 2 cost or less Character from your hand. For 2 cost or less, there are plenty of options, but it would depend on which one you need.

Lastly, the only 9 drop Momo in the deck is a Blocker, I was disappointed, since being a Blocker, you won't be able to attack with this card with ease, unless you need that final attack. However, the effect definitely makes up the Blocker ability. The effect works on play, play one 6 cost or less Wano Character except Momo from your trash. This will be able to play 6 drop Yamato from trash and attack with that card thanks to Rush, then, we can use 6 drop Yamato's effect to bring out 8 drop Yamato from trash for another extra attack.

Draw

There's not much draw power in this build, but these 2 cards are still important. OP16 Robin lets you set up the high cost cards in your trash. The effect works on play, you may trash one 8 cost or more Character from your hand to draw 2 cards. Most of our high cost have counters, but it's still good to discard them to draw the cards we can play.

OP16 Shinobu works best with our 5 drop Momo, but you will need to play 5 drop Momo first before playing Shinobu to the field. The effect works on play, you may trash this Character, if your Leader is Wano type, draw 1 card and 1 of your Momo gains 20 cost this turn. This way, you will be able to play 9 drop Momo on the same turn as playing both of these cards will only cost you 7 DONs, and you need to wait until you have 9 DONs to make use of 5 drop Momo.

Wano Supports

The Wano supports are all from OP16 set which will be easy to build if you only started the game. OP16 Nami is our 1 drop searcher we want to play on the very first turn. The effect works on play, if your Leader is Wano type, look at top 4 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Wano card except Nami and add it to your hand. Then, trash the rest. This is random mill, so you need to make sure which card to add to your hand, we don't lose the combos for the build.

OP16 Otama is pretty much like OP01 Otama, except an effect suitable for black builds. The effect is an activate main, you may rest this Character, if you have an 8 cost or more on the field, 1 of your opponent's Characters loses 2k power for the turn. This will make our attacks much more easier to hit against your opponent's Characters as we have no removal in this build.

OP16 Kin'emon is another searcher, but this one cost 4 instead of 1. Kin'emon has 2 effects, the first effect is that this Character gains +3 cost, making a 7 cost on the field. The second effect works on play, if your Leader is Wano type, look at top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Wano card and add it to your hand. Then, trash the rest. This is better than Nami as we can also look for Kin'emon himself as we don't have name restrictions.

Events

The only 2 Events I am running in this build. Cut Those Chains have a main effect that only needed if you don't have the cards in your hand to set up the combos, otherwise, we will mostly be using the counter effect. The main effect is you may rest 6 DONs to mill top 5 cards of your deck. Then, play one 6 cost or less Wano Character from your trash. Not only we can mill, but we can also play cards from the trash like 6 cost Yamato and we can attack with that Characters thanks to the Rush ability. The counter effect is your Leader gains 3k power for the battle.

Ground Death is the only card that is not from OP16 set, however, since we are running mill, we can easily use the counter effect. The main effect is by resting 2 DONs, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. The counter effect is if you have 10 or more cards in your trash, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 4k power for the battle. That 4k power will make a huge difference for the defence.
