The EB03 support definitely improved ST29 Luffy, but we also want to use the yellow side from EB04 support, and that's not coming out until April. For this build, I'll be posting 2 different builds, one using TB Pirates engine, and the other will be focusing on the SH/Egghead engine. The TB Pirates engine is pretty good and can be fit in a lot of yellow builds.
Unlimited Triggers | Zombie Luffy |
|---|---|
Leader Character (42) Event (8) | Leader Character (48) Event (2) |
What ever build you pick, both decks will be expensive to build unless you are playing these decks on a sim. Both decks will have different style, one focus on the SH engine and the other focused more on TB Pirates. You will need to find ways to get TB Pirates to the trash area, so we can trigger those trigger effects to play TB Characters from trash.
The SH engine on the other hand won't need to focus on cards in trash. You will mainly be focusing on activating trigger effects which is why I am running cards like Flame Dragon King to check your Life area to use the right trigger effects when the time comes.
Both decks will have access to Life gain, but TB Pirates will have more because of Moria who can either add TB Characters to the Life area or play those Characters to the field. We do start with 6 Life cards, so it will feel endless when your opponent tries to reduce your Life area.
Life Gain
The 3 main Life gain cards, and only one of them has a very conditional effect to trigger the Life gain, whilst the rest can gain new cards as soon as they hit the field. OP06 Kiku only works on KO, if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. Of course, you don't want to play Kiku too early, otherwise, we won't be able to use the on KO effect if we don't reach the requirement. The trigger effect is if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards, play this card.
OP12 Kuma is one of the key card especially for Zombie Luffy build as we can discard cards for the Life gain ability, easily setting up the trash. Kuma has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. Then, this Character gains +2 cost until the end of your opponent's turn. The second effect works during your opponent's turn and on KO, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. This could put some pressure if you have both Kiku and Kuma's effect active, forcing your opponents to avoid attacking these 2 cards.
EB03 Robin is definitely the best addition to the deck as we are running SH Leader. Just like Kuma, Robin has 2 effects. The first effect works on play, you may trash the top card of your Life area, if your Leader is SH type, add up to 2 cards from top of your deck to top of your Life area. Of course, we want to hit the maximum 2 as this is a trigger effect deck. The second effect also works during your opponent's turn and on KO, you may deal 1 damage to your opponent. By having these 3 cards on the field already reduces your opponents options to see which Character they want to remove.
Life Cards Removal
What I do like about this deck is the Life cards removal, so even if you don't hit your opponent's Leader, you can always swing at your opponent's Characters to reduce the amount of attacks they can do. OP10 Hawkins only works on KO which will be very situation. The effect is trash the top card of your opponent's Life area. If they have Life cards, they may not want to swing into Hawkins, but if you also have your Life gain cards, we can reduce your opponent's attack options. The trigger effect is draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. You could also use this trigger effect if you draw too any non counters to your hand.
EB03 Nami would work best if your opponent has 3 or more Life cards and she will also help you trigger Kiku's requirement. Nami has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, attach 1 rested DON to your Leader. Then, if your opponent has 3 or more Life cards, add the top card of your opponent's Life area to the owner's hand. Unfortunately, we don't remove that Life card like Hawkins, but at least we still be able to reduce the Life area without attacking. The second effect works on KO, you may turn the top card of your Life area face up to play one 6k power or less Character from your hand. Both decks will have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to activating this effect.
OP13 Bonney is very useful in this build as we have an Egghead Leader. The effect works on play, if your Leader is Egghead, this Character gains Rush. Then, your opponent add the top Life card to their hand. This is similar to Nami's effect except without the Life requirements so work really well if your opponent has 1 or 2 Life cards left. The trigger effect only works if you have 1 or less Life cards, rest 1 of your opponent's 7 cost or less Characters. This would require the timing to stop your opponent's attacks, otherwise, we mainly want to use this card for the Rush ability to start being aggressive with our attacks.
Searchers
Both builds have their own searchers and Lilith, so we won't be short on searchers when it comes to searching for specific cards. OP13 Lilith is our 1 drop searcher we want to use during our first turn to start adding cards to our hand. The effect works on play, look at top 4 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Trigger card except Lilith and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. There are a few non trigger cards for both builds so you would have to be very unlucky to see those cards as the top 4 cards. The trigger effect is activate this card's on play effect.
OP14 Absalom would work very well with the TB Pirates Trigger effects as we do want your opponents to KO this Character in order to get the search going. The effect works on KO, look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 TB Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is play one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash rested.
ST29 Sanji is our SH searcher and there are a few SH cards we could add to hand in Unlimited Triggers build. The effect works on play, look at top 4 cards of your deck, reveal 1 SH card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Similar to Lilith, this will depends on your luck to see the right type. The trigger effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand to play this card.
Free Play
The one advantage in Zombie Luffy build will be playing Characters for free and not just relying on trigger effects. Of course, we still need to get those cards to the trash area to work. OP14 Dr Hogback is another card like Absalom where we want to play this card at rest for your opponent to KO. The effect works on KO, play one 4 cost or less and a Trigger Character except Dr Hogback from your trash. We could play any Characters as long as that Character has the trigger ability. The trigger effect is play one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash rested.
OP14 Moria like I mentioned can be used for both playing Characters for free or having that extra Life gain depending on your field. The effect works on play, select one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash and play it or add it to top of your Life area face up. This will also allow you to trigger some of the TB Pirates Trigger effects if you want to put them in your Life area. The trigger effect is play one 4 cost or less from your trash. This is better than Hogback as we can play any 4 cost Characters, but not like it matters in the build.
Thriller Bark Pirates Supports
These cards will have the exact same trigger effect as Dr Hogback which is play one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash rested. OP14 Kumacy is just a vanilla with 2k counter whilst Cindry is a 1k Blocker, but we don't really want to play this card with the trigger effects as Cindry will come in at rest instead of active.
OP14 Perona is the main card we want to get to the trash area because of her effect. The effect works on play or on KO, 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters cannot attack until the end of your opponent's turn. Thanks to this effect, we could reduce the number of attacks your opponents can pull off if the timing is right.
Trigger Characters
The cards where we want to use their trigger effects more than playing these cards from hand, hence, why I called them Trigger Characters. OP07 Usopp is just a 2k vanilla if we end up getting this card to hand. The trigger effect is 1 of your Egghead Leader or Characters gains 2k power the end of your next turn. This is especially useful with Luffy Leader as we could have a 7k base Leader active until our turns end.
ST29 Robin is only a 2k Blocker, but we do have a 2k counter if we don't play her to the field. The trigger effect is if your Leader is Luffy, play this card. I do think, if you want to stop an attack, we do want to play Robin on the field for the Blocker ability, so we don't use as much counters from our hand.
Lastly, another 2k counter is ST29 Jinbe, but Jinbe is only 5k beat stick for 6, and at 6 cost you want to play cards like Kuma or even 5 costs Characters like EB03 Nami to get their on play going. I don't think there's any point in playing Jinbe from your hand unless you really need a beat stick on the field. The trigger effect is exactly like ST29 Robin which is if your Leader is Luffy, play this card. If you hit the trigger effect, that would be great.
Events
Only 1 of the builds will be able to use all 3 of the Events as we have some room whilst Zombie Luffy build can only use 1 of the Events. Who Should Disappear is a 0 cost Event and the counter effect is like any other colours where you trash 1 card from your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power for the battle. Of course, we can always aim for the trigger effect thanks to Flame Dragon King in the build. The trigger effect is if your Life cards is 0, you may add 1 card from top of your deck to top of your Life area. Then, trash 1 card from your hand. We will need to have this card the last card in the Life area to work.
100 times Stronger Now is a 1 drop Event where we could use the main or the counter effect depending on the situation. The main effect only works with Luffy Leader which is gaining Unblockable. You would need the right timing to make the main effect effective. The counter effect is your Leader gains 3k power for the battle.
Lastly, Flame Dragon King is really good in a deck where we are mainly running triggers effects, especially when we start with 6 Life cards, giving you a lot of options. The counter effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 4k power for the battle. Then, look at your Life area and place them back in any order. We also have Life gains in this build, so you may want to use the counter effect again if we got new cards in the Life area. The trigger effect is add 1 card from top or bottom of your Life area to your hand to add 1 card from your hand to top of your Life area. This effect is also helpful as we could set up cards like Usopp's trigger effect to power up our Leader the next time your opponent's attacks.
