OP14 Yellow (Bonney) Deck Profile

OP14 set doesn't really have the supports for mono yellow Leaders. OP13 Bonney would be the Leader if we want to use the new yellow stuff for the deck. The deck will have a completely new engine compare to OP13 build, but it is up to you if you want to use the OP14 engine or OP13 engine. I do think OP14 would make this deck a bit better. There's a card from EB03 that would work with this deck, but I will mainly focus on OP14, and decide later for EB03 update.



OP14 Bonney





How it Works?

I am running the TB Pirates engine since Bonney's Leader effect works very well with Trigger Characters, and the new TB Pirates all have Trigger effects. The only non Trigger card in this deck is Stussy and Kuma who will be replace with EB03 S Snake, but other than that, we can easily make use of the card's effects.

Basically, we want to use the TB Pirates trigger effects to play those Characters from the trash, and they do have KO effects, so even if they come in at rest, we will still get to trigger some of their effects. This is why OP08 Bonney will be important for the discard and draw effect, so we can get some Characters to the trash area.


Life Gain


Life gains are useful, the more Life gains you can do, the more trigger effects you can pull off, and trigger effects is what we want to use in this build. OP06 Kiku only works on KO, so your opponent may not want to KO this card as giving you more Life cards means more attacks, especially when playing against trigger deck. The effect is if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards, add 1 card from top from top of your deck to top of the Life area. 3 is not difficult to trigger unless your opponent's Leader starts with 5 Life cards. The trigger effect is if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards, play this card. 

OP12 Kuma is nice, especially when we also have discarding as part of the cost, so we could send some TB Pirates to the trash so we can trigger those trigger effects. Kuma has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. Then, this Character gains +2 cost until the end of your opponent's turn. The +2 cost doesn't really matter for this build as we mainly want the Life gain ability. The second effect works during your opponent's turn and on KO, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. If you have both Kiku and Kuma on the field, it will make your opponent think twice before attacking into these Characters.

Free Play


The trigger effects aren't the only way to play our Characters for free, as we also got these main cards who can fill up our board. OP14 Dr Hogback is nice, especially when some of our Trigger effects get to play this Character rested. The effect works on KO, play one 4 cost or less and a Trigger Character except Dr Hogback from your trash. We can play any 4 cost or less Characters and not just TB Pirates as long as they have the Trigger ability. The trigger effect is the one that is restricted to TB Pirates which is play one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash rested.

OP13 Stussy is a 7k Blocker with an on play effect which is if your Leader is Egghead, play one 5 cost or less Trigger Character from your hand. This shouldn't be difficult to trigger thanks to the TB Pirates engine being 4 cost or less, so we have a lot of low cost. The only downside is that Stussy doesn't have a Trigger ability, but not like that matters much as long as we get to play a Trigger Character.

Lastly, OP14 Moria has a nice effect to use as the effect could be used as a Life gain or playing Characters to the field. If you have a full field, you want to use the effect to gain extra Life cards, potentially, triggering their Trigger effects again. The effect works on play, select one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash and play it or add it to top of your Life area face up. The trigger effect is play one 4 cost or less from your trash. This trigger effect is not restricted to the TB Pirates Characters, so we could play cards like Hawkins or Kiku if needed.

Removing Life Cards


Instead of removals, we have cards who can focus on taking out your opponent's Life cards, so we don't need to do as much attack, and your opponent will need to use counters early from their hand. OP10 Hawkins is another Character who works on KO which is trash the top card from your opponent's Life area. Just like our Life gains cards, this will be difficult to trigger unless your opponent also have Life gain, so we will be aiming for the trigger effect which let us draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from the hand, and this can set up TB Pirates Characters in the trash.

OP09 Robin cost 6 to play and the effect will depends on your opponent's situation, but lucky, you can always use the trigger effect if needed. The effect works on play, if your opponent has 3 or more Life cards, trash the top card from your opponent's Life area. During the late game, this effect would be useless unless your opponent has Life gains. The trigger effect is play one 3 cost or less yellow Character from your hand, and there's quite a few cards to choose from which is why I am maximising the number of copies in the deck so we can hit the trigger effect to fill up the field.

Lastly, OP13 Bonney is another 10k beat stick along with Moria, but Bonney will cost 9 to play compare to Moria's 8. he effect works on play, if your Leader is Egghead, this Character gains Rush. Then, your opponent add the top Life card to their hand. Unfortunately, we don't get the trash effect like Robin and Hawkins which is the downside, but the Rush is definitely useful, especially combined with the Leader's effect. The trigger effect is if you have 1 or less Life cards, rest 1 of your opponent's 7 cost or less Characters.

Thriller Bark Pirates Supports


The rest of the TB Pirates supports are very simple. They will all have the exact same Trigger effect as each other which is, play one 4 cost or less TB Pirates Character from your trash rested. The only 2 cards you don't want to target are Kumacy and Cindry, Kumacy is just a 2k vanilla, and Cindry is a Blocker, but the Blocker ability will be useless if she is rested.

OP14 Absalom is a searcher for TB Pirates, so you should be able to add some of the cards to the hand. The effect works on KO, The effect is look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 TB Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Of course, we can play this card as rested using 1 of our Trigger effects, and hope your opponents could KO this card so we could get the search.

OP14 Perona is very strong as the main effect could prevent your opponents from attacking. The effect works on play or on KO, 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters cannot attack until the end of your opponent's turn. You could trigger this twice in a turn if you can find a way to KO this Character, so we can stop 2 of your opponent's Characters from attacking.

The Supports


The rest of the supports is pretty much the same as my previous build. OP13 Lilith is a searcher who would be able to search for most cards in this build. The effect works on play, look at top 4 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Trigger card except Lilith and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is activate this card's on play effect.

OP08 Bonney has become even more important for this deck as we can get the TB Pirates Characters to the trash with ease. You do need a DON for the effect to work, but shouldn't be difficult as we can use our Leader's effect to trigger this effect. The effect works on your turn and once per turn, when a card is removed from your opponent's Life cards, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand. As long as 1 of your cards remove your opponent's Life cards, we can trigger the draw effect. The trigger effect is draw 2 cards and trash 1 card from your hand which is pretty much the same as the main effect but without the need to remove a Life card.

Blaze Slice is the only Event I am running the build. There are other Events that could work well in this build, but since I am not running any removals, I want ways to stop your opponent's attacks. The effect works during main or counter, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 1k power for the turn. Then, if your opponent has 2 or less Life cards, rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. We do get the 1k bonus for a turn which can make a huge difference when using counters. The trigger effect is similar to the main effect where we rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters.
