EB04 Blue/Purple (Kaido) Deck Profile

Personally, the new Animal Kingdom Pirates from EB04 doesn't really fit in OP01 Kaido as those cards are mainly designed for ST04 Kaido Leader. But we can still use some of the new AK Pirates in this build with a slight twist as we also get to access blue card pool which can be really useful.

How it Works?

Not much ramp cards because of Kaido's Leader effect who can get you a DON when you KO 1 of your opponent's Characters from attack or effect. Your opponent won't block all the attacks, or otherwise, they can easily have low hand size unless they can constantly draw cards when they play a Character.

The one difference between ST04 Kaido and OP01 Kaido is that OP01 Kaido can have access to the draw power cards, easily increasing your hand size as well as having that additional searcher to get Onigashima to your hand. Onigashima is still 1 of the key card in this build as once you get the Stage, ramping will be a lot easier, especially combined with the Leader's effect.


Ramp


Not as much ramp cards needed, as when you have too much ramp cards, the effect can become useless in this build, especially when we have to wait to play Kaido to start returning a lot of DONs. EB04 Queen is very nice to have in the build as this card comes with 2 effects. The first effect works on play, you may trash 1 AK Pirates card from your hand to draw 2 cards. This is really useful if you draw multiple non counters in your hand as there are a lot of non counters in this build. The second effect is an activate main effect where you need to rest 2 DONs, if your Leader is AK Pirates, add 1 DON as rest. This is only if you have 2 DONs left and got nothing to play in your hand.

OP08 Maria is mainly our main ramp card to recover the lost DONs when we use Kaido's effect. Maria's effect is an activate main effect and the effect only works if you have no other Maria Characters in play. You can add up to 5 DONs as rest. Then, at the end of your turn, return DONs to the DON deck until you have the same number of DON as your opponents. The more DONs your opponent has, the more DONs you can recover,m and don't worry if you have another copy of Maria in hand as she has the 2k counter we could use.

Lastly, Onigashima Island is the main card we want to see in our opening hand, or use searchers to search for this card as soon as possible, so we can start ramping, combined with our Leader's effect. The effect is you may rest this Stage, if your Leader is AK Pirates, add 1 DON as rest.

Removals


For the removal, with the exception of Pudding, I mainly focused on KO effects so we can trigger the Leader's ramp easily. OP06 Pudding is a card that is very useful since we can use blue colour for this build. The effect works on play, your opponent returns all cards from their hand to their deck and shuffles their deck. Then, your opponent draws 5 cards. This would help against decks with large hand size.

ST04 King is the reason why I am not running EB04 King in the build as EB04 version won't activate if there's another King on the field. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters. 4 cost or less may not seems to be a lot but we will be able to trigger our Leader's effect making the cost technically free.

Another card that can work well with our Leader is ST04 Kaido who only cost 9 to play, so we can attach the 1 DON to the Leader before we play this card. The effect works on play, by returning 5 DONs, KO 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less. Then, this card gains Rush. The Rush is very useful as we could KO 2 of your opponent's Characters in 1 turn, one using the effect and the other is attacking into your opponent's rested Characters.

Lastly, OP01 Kaido is mainly for board wiping in case your opponent has a board advantage over you. However, this card does cost 10 to play, so we won't be able to give extra DONs to your Leader for the turn. The effect works on play, by returning 6 DONs, if your Leader is AK Pirates type, KO all Characters except this card. We will also be KOing our own cards as well.

Draw


What's different compare to purple Kaido build is definitely the access to draw power. Blue has plenty of cards when it comes to draw power, so you could draw the right cards pretty easily. PRB02 Marco is just a 6k Blocker with an on KO effect which is draw 2 cards. The only downside is definitely not having counter since we are lacking counters in this build.

ST04 Queen is another 6k Blocker, but this one cost 5 to play instead of 4. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON, draw 2 cards and trash 1 card. I think the trashing would be useful as we could discard some cards we won't be needing and keeping the cards we do need.

Lastly, another 10 drop card is OP05 Kaido, but unlike OP01 version, we won't need to worry about KOing our own Characters unless you need a 12k beat stick. The effect works on play, draw 4 cards if your opponent has 3 or less Life cards. 4 cards is a lot, and being an AK Pirates card means we can search this card to our hand with ease.

Animal Kingdom Pirates Supports


The rest of the AK Pirates supports are very simple. OP04 Who's Who's is our standard searcher for this deck which is important to get Onigashima to the hand. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 AK Pirates card except Who's Who and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

OP05 Ulti is like a search rather than an extra draw depending on how you interpret the effect. The effect works on play, if your Leader is multicoloured, look at the top 3 cards of your deck, add 1 card to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

Lastly, EB04 Kaido will work very well with our Leader. Kaido has 2 effects, the first effect is, if this Character would be KO'd, you may return 1 DON instead. This would work very well with OP01 Kaido when you are planning to wipe the field. The main effect works on play, by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is AK Pirates, this Character gains Rush. Then, rest 1 of your opponent's 7 cost or less Characters. Thanks to this effect, we could aim to KO 1 of your opponent's Characters so we can trigger our Leader's ramp.

Events


For the Events, there are plenty of choices you can choose, but I still with these 2 cards. OP13 Divine Departure actually works very well in this build. The main effect is you may rest 5 DONs, if you have any attached DONs, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 8k for this turn. We will need to attach DONs to our Leader in order to trigger the ramp effect and with this reducing power effect, it means KOing Characters will be a lot easier. The counter effect is the same as any 0 cost where we discard a card, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power for the battle.

Lastly, Claim the One Piece is another searcher since this one would acts as a backup in case we don't draw Who's Who's. The effect is if your Leader has AK Pirates or BM Pirates type, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 AK Pirates or BM Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. You can also add OP06 Pudding with this card if you need to reduce your opponent's hand size. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
