OP14 Green (Mihawk) Deck Profile

OP14 Mihawk is another deck where we could use 2 different builds. One without the Supernovas engine and with the SN engine. Some of the key cards are SN type, so it does makes sense why you want to run SN engine, plus they are also Slash Characters, giving you more search options added to the deck.

Mihawk Supernovas

How it Works?

Both decks focused heavily on the Events because once you use Mihawk's Leader effect, we won't be able to play Characters from our hand, so this would leaves you plenty of DONs to work with especially combining with our Stage card who can untap 1 DON at the end of your turn. What we do have are cards who stops your opponent's from attacking, so as long as your opponent tries to attack, we can stop those Characters with ease.

With the Supernovas build you have access to more searcher, so you don't have to rely on Perona alone, plus Kid & Killer also untap DONs, giving you the access to play Events from your hand. Although not like I am running a lot of Events compare to the prevention build.

Freeze/Lock

Both deck runs a nice amount of this mechanic, so you should really have any problems in stopping your opponent's attacks unless they don't attack at all. OP14 Perona is a nice edition to the build as this card comes with 2 effects. The first effect works on play, up to 2 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters cannot be rested until the end of your opponent's turn. This effect is very good as it means not only your opponents cannot attack, but they won't be able to use Blockers as you need to rest the Character in order for Blockers to work. The second effect works on KO, you may rest 1 of your cards to play 1 green 5 cost or less Character from your hand. This could be useful as there are plenty of cards we could choose to play depending your hand.

OP07 Bonney is mainly in the SN build because we can search for Bonney with Kid & Killer's effect. The effect works on play, 1 of your opponent's rested Characters or DONs cannot become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. We can target any cards we want, but of course, stopping 1 DON might make a difference from playing high Characters or not.

OP08 Carrot on the other hand is more specific, but for the prevention deck, you can easily replace Carrot with Bonney if you prefer Bonney. Carrot works on play or when attacking, 1 of your opponent's 7 cost or less rested Characters cannot become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. Unlike Bonney, we can constantly stop your opponents from becoming active as the effect is not one off, annoying your opponents constantly.

OP14 Mihawk is really strong for a secret rare and I'm not too surprised. Mihawk has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, when this Character becomes rested, 1 of your opponent's 9 cost or less cannot be rested until the end of your opponent's turn. It is very easy to rest Mihawk even if you hard play him this turn as we have plenty of cards who are able to rest Mihawk if we can't attack. The second effect works during your opponent's attacks, once per turn, you may trash 1 card from your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 2k power for the battle. This can act like 1 of those Event counters, but we do have to discard a card for the effect to work.

Law & Bepo is a key card to the deck, being both Slash and SN Character means both decks will be able to search this card with ease. The effect works on play, rest 1 of your opponent's Characters and that Character cannot become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. Then, if your opponent has 2 or more rest Characters, your Leader gains 2k power until the end of your opponent's turn. I do like this card, not only we can stop 1 of your opponent's attacks, but if they have at least 2 Characters, we can power up our Leader base power.

Untapping

Mihawk Leader will be doing most of your untapping DONs, so we don't really need those cards unless you want to play more cards to the field. What I've added are cards who focus on untapping Characters since we need to rest our cards to trigger some of the effects. OP14 Kiku has a simple effect which works at the end of your turn, untap this Character. Otherwise, you could use Kiku for the 2k counter if you have another copy on the field.

Spiderweb is actually pretty handy to have as this card can prevent your opponents from swinging into your rested Characters, so we can actually protect our Characters. The counter effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 4k power for the battle. Then, untap 1 of your Characters. The trigger effect is your Leader gains 2k power for the turn. Well both of these effects will be useful, but of course, the trigger effect will need luck to work.

Coffin Boat is mainly 1 of the cards we target to rest since Stage cards does nothing on the field, although with Boat, there are some handy effects. Coffin Boat has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, if your Leader is Mihawk, draw 1 card. Nothing special about this effect aside from drawing. But what we do want is the second effect which works at the end of your turn. If your Leader is Mihawk, untap 1 of your DONs. This will enable us to play some Events during your opponent's turn.

Prevention

Only 3 cards that protect themselves from opponent's effect, well only 1 of them, whilst the other protects your field. Ironically 2 of these cards are called Tashigi and OP10 Tashigi is the one that protects your entire field. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the space to fit this in SN build because of the SN Characters, so you will only be able to use this in one of the build. The effect is if you have a green Character other than Tashigi is removed from your field by your opponent's effects, you may rest this Character instead.

PRB02 Zoro is mainly for the 2k counter and has both Slash and SN type making this card really easy to search. Zoro is just a Blocker with an effect that works during your opponent's turn, if this Character is rested by your opponent's effects, you may rest 1 of your Characters instead. We have Kiku in the build who could be our rest target as that cards untap during your end phase.

OP14 Tashigi's prevention effect only works during your opponent's turn, whilst we mainly run this card for the main effect. The prevention effect is if this Character would be removed by your opponent's effects, you may rest 1 card instead. Shouldn't be difficult to do in this build as we should have plenty of resting. The main effect is you may rest 2 of your cards, this Character gains 2k power until the end of your opponent's turn, so even if we do end up resting Tashigi, we shouldn't worry about 7k or less power Characters.

Slash Supports

For the Slash supports, ST16 Shanks is optional as you have plenty of cards that can stop your opponent's attacks, however, if you want a bit of removal running Shanks is quite useful, especially that 11k beat stick for 9. Anyway, Perona is the main searcher of the deck. The effect works, on play, if your Leader have the Slash attribute, look at top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Slash attribute Character or 1 green Event and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. What I like is that even if we miss with the Slash Characters, we can always choose Events as backup, or you can add Events instead of Characters.

OP14 Shanks is a nice edition, especially if you can play multiple copies of Shanks on the field. Shanks have 2 effects, the first effect works during your turn, when this Character becomes rested, rest 1 of your opponent's 7k base power or less. This can trigger using our rest effects or attacking. The second effect works during your opponent's turn, if this Character is rested, reduce all of your opponent's Characters by 1k. This is basically OP09 Shanks effect, but only restricted during your opponent's turn, but at least, this can weaken your opponent's attacks.

ST16 Shanks is just for removal in case we want to get rid of your opponent's Characters to reduce as much attack as possible. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's rested Characters. It is up to you if you want to run this card or not as some choice not to, and some may run this.

Supernovas Supports

For the SN build, I am running these 2 cards. ST24 Kid & Killer is a Slash Character so we can search this card with Perona's effect if we also want additional search. Kid & Killer has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 SN card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The second effect  works during your opponent's attack, you may trash this Character to untap 1 DON. The untapping DONs would be useful as we could use more Events from our hand if needed.

OP13 Law is mainly to spam high cost Characters to the field by returning our low cost Characters to the hand. Law has 2 effects, the first effect is if you have 1 or less Life cards, this Character gains Blocker. You don't have to aim for the first effect as we really want to use the on play effect which is you may return 1 of your Characters to the owner's hand to play one 5 cost or less Characters from your hand rested. There are plenty of 5 cost Characters we can play, but they will come in as rest which could be a downside if you don't want your opponents to attack into those Characters.

Events

The rest of the Events are SH cards, but 1 of them is a SN type, so our SN searcher could add the Event to hand if we wanted. Trichiliocosm is a nice Event, but mainly when you actually have cards on the field to work, so we won't be able to use this during the early turns. The counter effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 2k power for the battle. Then, if you have 8 or more rested cards, that card gains another 2k power, making the grand total of 4k for 1 cost. 8 rested cards is not hard to do, especially if the turns passes by.

Dead's Man Game can be use for resting or for the counter effect. Mihawk Leader untaps 3 DONs which is just enough to use Dead's Man Game's main effect. The main effect is you may rest 3 DONs to rest up to total of 2 of your opponent's Characters or DONs. Of course, you will need to have 1 more DON active if you want to use the main effect to rest your opponent's cards. The counter effect is your Leader gains 3k power for the turn.

I'll go all out is another card that is able to stop your opponent's attack, and unlike Dead's Man Game, the main effect is enough when we use Mihawk's Leader effect to untap the DONs. The effect is you may rest 2 DONs, 2 of your opponent's rested 7 cost or less Characters will not become active during your opponent's next Refresh Phase. This will cost you 3 altogether, but that is only if your opponent has at least 2 rested beat sticks we could target as we do have Perona and Mihawk who can target active Characters. The counter effect is your Leader gains 3k power for the turn.
