OP13 Vegapunk |
|---|
Leader Character (44) Event (4) Stage (2) |
How it Works?
We have a lot of nice Egghead cards for this build, however, I've kept it quite simple with main running Scientists in the build, so we can make use of EB02 Vegapunk's effect and spam 1 of the Scientist Characters to the field. The Egghead Stage card would allows our Characters to attack and also protecting 1 of the Characters from being an attack target. It really depends on how you would use Vegapunk's Leader effect, but of course if we can, we will play our 5 drop Characters on the very first turn, so we could have a beat stick to attack with on the next turn.
Life Gain can be important, but as long as it doesn't stop you from triggering the card's effects as we need to maintain lower Life cards than your opponents. This is easy to do during the early turns, but during the late game, you could use Life gain ability to maintain a decent Life area, and won't be wiped out with 1 attack.
Searchers
The 2 main searchers for the deck, however, since they are both Lilith, they won't be able to search with each others. OP13 Lilith is interesting, since with 1 DON, we want to use Vegapunk's effect to get a high cost Character on the field, but with 2 DONs, then, I will use Vegapunk's effect and also play this searcher to maximise the use. The effect works on play, look at the top 4 cards of your deck, add 1 Trigger card except Lilith and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. I made the entire deck running on trigger effects, so you will hit 1 of them if needed. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
OP07 Lilith will be a card we can play even if we only got 1 DON thanks to Vegapunk's effect, plus, we will also have a 5k beat stick to swing at your opponents. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Egghead card except Lilith and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Just like the OP13 version, I am running this build with mainly Egghead cards, so you won't have much of a problem not adding the cards. The trigger effect is if your Leader is Vegapunk, play this card.
Draw
Draw power is very important for this deck as we need hand size to protect the Leader since we only start with 2 Life cards. The more draw you can pull off the better. Ironically, all these draw effects have 2k counter which will be very useful for protecting your cards. OP13 Edison is only a 2k beat stick, but you could put this in your Life area or play this card for the draw effect, but it will depends if you used Vegapunk's effect this turn. The effect is an activate main, you may trash this card, if the number of Life cards is equal or less than your opponent's Life cards, draw 1 card. Then, rest 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters. We will get the draw effect going even if we don't have any rest targets. The trigger effect is exactly the same as the main effect but without the Life requirements, draw 1 card and rest 1 of your opponent's 3 cost or less Characters, which is why it doesn't matter if you play this card or put this card in your Life area.
OP07 Edison doesn't really increase your hand size as this is just a hand filter effect instead. The effect works on play, if you have 2 or less Life, draw 2 cards and trash 2 cards from your hand. 2 or less is not difficult as long as you are not planning to increase your Life cards. The trigger effect is if your Leader is Vegapunk, play this card.
OP07 Franky is just a plain vanilla on the field, so you will need to place this card in your Life area if you want to trigger the trigger effect. The trigger effect is draw 1 card, then if you have 1 or less Life, play this card. We can put Franky as the 2nd Life card, so it doesn't hinder the rest of the deck effects where we need 2 or less Life cards to work.
Free Play
We've only got 2 cards who can play Characters for free and 1 of them need to be KO'd to work. EB02 Vegapunk is 1 of the card we want to play on turn 1 so we have 2 Characters on the field as well as having a Blocker. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, play one 5 cost or less Scientist Character among them except Vegapunk. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck, and if your opponent has 2 or less Life cards, trash 1 card from your hand. I have increased the amount of Scientist Characters in this build thanks to OP13 set, so seeing at least 1 shouldn't be too difficult. The trigger effect is draw 1 card, but that's only if you see this card in your Life area.
OP07 Pythagoras is a card that only works on KO, so hopefully your opponent could KO this Character. The effect is if you have 2 or less Life cards, play one 4 cost or less Egghead Character from your trash rested. The only downside is that the cards come in at rest, but if those Characters have on play effect, this would be even better. The trigger effect is if your Leader is Vegapunk, play this card.
Removals
The 2 main removal cards for this build and being Egghead and have Trigger ability means we can easily search these cards from the deck. OP08 Nami works best when we have low hand size, so the effect doesn't become a minus instead of plus. Of course, you also want to wait until your opponent have beat sticks on the field to target. The effect works on play, you may trash 1 card with trigger from your hand to KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. Then, if you have 3 or less cards in your hand, draw 1 card. The draw helps you recover the discard cost, you don't gain anything except KOing your opponent's Characters, but also you won't be losing anything. The trigger effect is just activate this card's on play effect.
OP07 Luffy can be played on turn 1 thanks to being a 5 cost Egghead Character, plus it would also mean, we can attack before triggering the effect, and not force to use the effect right away. The main effect is an activate main, you may trash this Character, if you have 2 or less Life cards, KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters, then, draw 1 card. It is also important why we need to maintain 2 or less Life cards so we could use these effects straight away if the situation is needed. The trigger effect is KO 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters which is the same as the main but without the Life requirements and draw.
Egghead Supports
For the rest of the Egghead supports, it's very simple as I've kept these cards from the previous builds. OP07 Shaka and Atlas has the exact same trigger effect where if your Leader is Vegapunk, play this card. The one difference will be the main effect where Shaka is just a 6k Blocker whilst Atlas can't be KO'd in battle if you have less Life cards than your opponents, so we won't need to worry about protecting Atlas as long as we keep our Life area low.
I requasar help is the only Event I've decided to keep because the effects are very useful. The counter effect is if you have 2 or less Life cards, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power for the battle. This is very easy to do as long as we don't go past 2 Life cards if you are planning to use Vegapunk's Life gain. The trigger effect is play one 5 cost or less Egghead Character from your trash. The trigger effect is also very useful as we could play Characters like Shaka or Vegapunk to get more Characters on the field during your opponent's turn, whilst setting up for the attacks. But I guess that's only if you have these cards in your trash.
Egghead is in the build to protect our Characters from being an attack target, since this deck weakness is 2 Life cards, which means, we will need to burn our hand pretty early in the game, and if your opponents keep attacking our Characters, we will have no Characters we can attack with. The effect works at the end of your turn, if you have 3 or less Life cards, untap 1 of your 5 cost or less Egghead Characters. You can also attack with Shaka and set up Shaka's Blocker during your opponent's turn. The trigger effect is play this card.
