OP12 Blue/Purple (Sanji) Deck Profile

Sanji does reminds me of Nami build where we are mainly running Events more than Characters for the build. At first, I didn't have high hope for an Event focused build, since we didn't have self mill as win condition, but I was surprised that the deck was pretty decent, especially the support for Sanji, so we actually got some nice Events we could use for the build.

OP12 Sanji

How it Works?

Most of the Events are SH base because we can search them, and Sanji's Leader effect can play some of them for free, so it is a win win situation. Of course, I am running some Characters, but not a lot as I am mainly focused on the Events. The more Events we can get in the trash, the better for some of these Characters to trigger their effect.

The downside to this build is that we don't have any major beat stick that could force a lot of counters or Blockers from your opponents, but we do have plenty of cards that could return your opponent's Characters. So we will use this part of the effect to our advantage and reducing your opponents Characters as much as possible.

Searchers

We do have a lot of searchers in this build, and if you can see any of these cards in your opening hand, you will be all set to make this deck pop off. OP12 Pudding works on play, look at top 4 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Sanji or Event card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This shouldn't be hard to trigger considering we are running more Events than Characters in the deck, so you should see at least 1 ideally.

Will be King of the Pirates as there are 2 in OP12 with similar name in that set, so you will need to find the right one, which is purple. This Event only works with Sanji, the effect is if your Leader is Sanji, look at top 3 cards of your deck and add 1 card to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. What I like about this Event is that we can add any cards we want without revealing that card to our opponents.

Lets Crash This Wedding is a searcher for Straw Hats and since this build have plenty of SH cards, we shouldn't have difficulties in getting those cards out from the build. The effect is if your Leader is multicoloured, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 SH card other than Crash This Wedding and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.

Fight Against Pirates is another Straw Hat searcher, but unfortunately, this Event is not a SH card which is why I am not running a lot of copies in the build. The effect is look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 SH, Kid Pirates or Heart Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. I am not running the other 2 Pirates in the build, so you will be only searching for SH cards. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.

Returning

There are plenty of cards that can focus on returning your opponent's Characters to hand or deck, so it will be all about timing to trigger these cards. OP08 Jozu works on play, you may return 1 of your other Character to the owner's hand to return one 6 cost or less Character to the owner's hand. We could use Jozu's effect to return our 1 drops so we can use those 1 drops to spam their on play effects whilst removing your opponent's beat sticks. Of course, they can also use their on play effects if they've got one, so we need to be careful in which one to return.

Jet Culverin is one of the Events we could play for free using Sanji's Leader effect, although I am not running a lot of copies as the effect can only target certain costs. The effect is place 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters to the bottom of the owner's deck. 4 cost is pretty low these days considering we have to watch out for 5 drops that could put a major threat. The trigger effect is place one 1 cost Character to the bottom of the owner's deck. We will rarely be able to use this trigger effect unless that 1 drop could be a beat stick, so we would want to use the main effect instead.

Three Thousand Worlds is a card I would rather use of Jet Culverin even though we won't be able to use this card for free. The effect is place one 5 cost or less Characters to the bottom of the owner's deck. Targeting 5 costs means we would have some decent choices at targeting your opponent's major threats. Although, you don't have to target your opponents as you could also target your own Characters, but I wouldn't do that even if its possible. The trigger effect is place one 3 cost Character to the bottom of the owner's deck. Just like Culverin, you may not want to use this trigger effect unless your opponent has a 3 drop that could be a threat on the field.

Red Roc is a high cost Event we would have to pay, but in return, we would be able to target any Characters we want, and the best use of Red Roc will be high cost Characters. The main effect is place 1 Character to the bottom of the owner's deck. The trigger effect is place one 4 cost or less Character to the bottom of the owner's deck, but you might want to save this card for other uses, unless you are desperate in removing your opponent's Characters.

Draw

Searchers aren't the only way to increase our hand as we also got these cards to gain the hand advantages. However, Kaya is more of a hand filter instead of gain hand advantage. The effect works on play, draw 2 cards and trash 2 cards. We will be getting a lot of Events or cards you won't be able to use during the early turns, so we could trash those cards to refresh our hand.

Concasser does have 2 options we can choose from, and you don't want to play this card for free, since it only cost 1 to play. The main effect is your Leader is Sanji, draw 1 card. We also have a counter effect we could use, the effect is if you have 4 or more Events in trash, your Leader gains 4k power for this battle. Getting 4 Events in trash is not hard to do with our searchers and Kaya setting up the trash.

Giant is a card I thought it would get banned, but luckily it didn't, so might as well maximise the use of this card. The counter effect is by returning 2 DONs and trash 1 card in your hand, if your Leader is SH, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 4k power for this battle. Then, draw 2 cards. The returning DONs won't matter too much as Sanji has a ramp effect, so we could recover any lost DONs with ease.

Brochette Blow is another card we could play for free using Sanji's effect, and we do want to use Sanji's effect when we play this card. The effect is if the number of DONs on your field is equal or less than your opponents, draw 1 card. Then, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 3k for this turn. We don't have much cards that can return DONs, but if you can use Sanji's effect, then. we can easily get less DONs than your opponents.

Power

This deck doesn't have any major beat stick Characters, but in return, if we could set up the trash, then some of these Characters can become deadly. OP12 Sanji have 2 effects and they can be continuous effect. The first effect is this Character gains 1k power for every 5 Events in your trash. Personally, this is hard to do, and you could only make Sanji 7k to 8k beat if we are lucky enough. The second effect is if this Character would be removed by your opponent's effects, you may return 1 DON from your field instead. This is not once per turn, so as long as we got DONs, we could constantly protect Sanji from your opponents removals.

OP12 Reiju is a 4 drop Blocker, but if we meet the requirements, then Reiju could be more deadly. The effect is if you've got 4 or more Events in trash, this Character gains 2k power and +5 cost. A 9 drop Blocker will be very hard to removal when it comes to cost removals, so we would be safe against those cards, but not power removal as Reiju will only becomes 7k Blocker. Although 7k Blocker is a lot if we managed to get 4 Events during the early turns.

Lastly, ST26 Luffy don't need Events to gain in power up, instead you will need to rely on your opponents. The effect works on play or when attacking, by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is multicoloured and your opponent has 5 or more DONs on their field. Your SH Leader will have a base power of 7k until the end of your opponent's turn. 7k base power will means we wouldn't have to worry too much on the defensive side especially the amount of DONs we would need to use to trigger the Events.

Events

For the rest of the Events we've got these cards. Now Rain can be replaced with Jet Gatling as we could use Jet Gatling trigger's effect if needed, but it really depends on what you need. Both will be searchable as they are both SH cards. The counter effect is the same as any other colours, you may trash 1 card from your hand, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power this battle. The trigger effect is return one 2 cost or less Characters to the owner's hand. The trigger effect means we could target our 1 drop and use those cards for counter or on play effects if needed.

Boeuf Burst have 2 different effects which is why I didn't group this card in any other section. You can also play this card for free using Sanji's Leader effect. The effect is if your Leader is multicoloured, choose 1 of the following, return 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters to the owner's hand, or if you have 6 or less cards in hand, draw 2 cards. This effect will depends on the situation of the field, if you have too many cards in hand, you want to use this to return your opponent's Characters, but if you have low hand size, you want to draw cards.
