As you know Blackbeard got a starter deck support, but there's really not much you can change with the build using the starter deck. So instead, I've also focus on OP11 support for the build. There's actually not many we can change considering the black support in OP11 are mainly Navy cards, and the previous BB cards are still the main cards for the build.
OP11 Blackbeard |

Leader Character (34) Event (12) Stage (4) |
How it Works?
Personally, I found it difficult to fit ST27 stuff in the build as some of the cards would make us have to reduce some of the numbers in this deck. Instead, I've just added OP11 Caribou to the build. The deck is the same as last time except, I've went with more of a defensive approach. We will be using cost reducers to KO your opponent's Characters whilst also have Blockers on the field to stop your opponent's attacks. We do lose cards in our hand when we use BB's Leader effect, so we need Blockers in order to stop your opponent's attacks, and also reducing the need to use counters.
At the same time, we also want to build up the trash to power Burgess's effect who is our main beat stick of the deck. The more cards we've got in the trash, the more power Burgess can become, especially late game where we can hit over 10k power with each swing.
Cost Reducers
These are the same cost reducers, you could run Laboon for more cost reducers, but Laboon does come with a risk and that is your opponent constantly attacking that card trying to make you protect Laboon. Whereas these cards would be better and not because they are BB Pirates. oth of them has activate main effect to get around Blackbeard's restrictions. Stronger works by trashing 1 card in your hand and trashing this Character, if your Leader is BB Pirates, draw 1 card. Then, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 2 this turn.
Van Augur on the other hand can be our constant cost reducer as long as he stays on the field unlike Stronger. Augur has 2 effects, the first effect is you may rest this Character, if your Leader is BB Pirates type, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters cost by 3. 3 would be enough since our removals doesn't target really low costs like other builds. The second effect works on KO, draw a card, giving us the draw power to use BB's Leader effect.
Removals
Our removals mainly come from the Events rather than the Characters because we are limited to activate main effects. Doc Q has 2 effects, the first works by resting this Character, if your Leader is BB Pirates, KO 1 of your opponent's 1 cost or less Characters. This might be a problem with the lack of cost reducers in the build. The second effect works on KO, you draw a card which is the exact same effect as Van Augur.
Finger Pistol is one of the main card we need in this build, mainly because we can also mill cards from the deck to power up Burgess. You can run the build without Finger Pistol, but it won't be as effective. The effect is you may trash 2 cards from the top of your deck to KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. 5 or less is plenty, especially with your cost reducers reducing certain high cost Characters down. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
Black Hole doesn't only negate your opponent's effects, but can also KO your opponent's Characters acting as an extra removal for the build. The effect is if your Leader is BB Pirates, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Characters during this turn. Then, if that Character's cost is 4 or less, KO it. You will need to rely on cost reducers if you want to KO certain cards. The trigger effect is negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Leader or Character cards this turn.
Lastly, we've got Liberation and Liberation only works if your opponent has more Characters than you. The effect is if your opponent has at least 2 more Characters than you. KO 1 of your opponent's base cost of 6 and base cost of 4 Characters. If we mainly focus on Blockers and Events, then this card is very easy to trigger. The trigger effect is negate 1 of each of your opponent's Leader and Characters this turn.
Searchers
As for the searcher, the more we can search, the more we can get a hand size to use other effects. Laffite works by paying 1 DON and resting this Character to look at top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 BB Pirates card and add it to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. This is just the typical searcher we've seen so far.
My Era Begins is different from Laffite instead of looking at top 5 cards, we can only look at top 3. Look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 BB Pirates card other than My Era Begins and add it to your hand. Then, trash the rest. Now this is one of the searcher like Brannew where we can build up the trash. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
Fullalead is a nice hand filter card, we don't gain card with this Stage, but we also don't lose cards. The effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand and rest this stage, look at top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 BB Pirates card and add it to your hand. Place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. We look at the same amount of card just like My Era Begins, but as this is a Stage card, we can use this effect once per turn.
Blockers
The one thing I want to discuss is Blockers in this build. Blocker will be really useful, especially when we are constantly discarding cards in our hand to use certain card's effects. OP11 Caribou is the only new card I've decided to run. He is an 1 drop Blocker with an on play effect. However, because this deck negates On Play effect, Caribou will become an 1 drop with 2k counter vanilla Blocker which is very useful.
Vasco is a card I want to run more as I don't mind having a 2 drop Blocker, but of course, I think if you have Caribou in the deck, then Vasco isn't as important other than being a BB Pirates card who we can search him out, as I could run more Caribou. Unlike the other card OP09 Devon.
Devon is quite useful in this build as she will let us chooses 3 different abilities. The effect is an activate main effect, if your Leader is BB Pirates, this Character gains Double Attack, Banish or Blocker until the end of your opponent's turn. Depending on the situation, we can choose either of these ability.
Lastly, we have the main Blocker, Blackbeard. The effect just works once per card as it is really hard to trigger the effect again as we don't have anything who can spam this effect. If your Leader is BB Pirates type and this Character was played on this turn, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Leader during this turn. Then, negate the effect of 1 of your opponent's Characters and that Character cannot attack until the end of their turn.
Blackbeard Pirates Supports
For the BB Pirates supports, we've got these cards, 2 of them mainly works with BB Pirates only whilst the other is just a support. That support OP09 Shiryu is a card I'm planning to take out for more Caribou and maybe Vasco or Devon, however, the when attacking effect can be useful especially when this build mainly focus on Burgess. You will need to attach a DON for the effect to work, you may trash 2 cards from your hand to draw 2 cards. So there is a bright side of thing keeping Shiryu in the build.
As you know Burgess is the main card of the deck, as this is the only Character who can hit some deadly numbers once we can build up the trash. The effect is this Character can't be KO'd by your opponent's effects. If your Leader is BB Pirates type, this Character gains 1k for every 4 cards in your trash. The more cards we can get to the trash, the more power we can get for Burgess, making him one of the best cards in this build.
Speaking of best card, we would also need OP10 Kuzan as sometimes, we will be milling Burgess thanks to the mill cards, not like we want to see Burgess in the trash area anyway. Kuzan has 2 effects, the first effect is a continuous effect where this Character cannot be removed by your opponent's effects. The second effect is an activate main, you may trash this Character to draw 1 card. Then, play one 5 cost or less BB Pirates Character other than Kuzan from your trash. What we can do is attack with Kuzan first, then use his effect to bring back another Character, unless you desperately need that Character on the field as soon as possible.
