Honestly, the latest ban list makes me want to about the TCG of YGO. I feel TCG format has the hate of anti hand traps compare to OCG. Now that Designator is limited who was the one answer to hand traps because Called By is limited. They should have semi limited Called By, then it would make sense like OCG format. Talent also got hit, another card that is great for going first or second, otherwise we won't be able to deal with monster effects. I guess it won't be long until Thrust is also limited since that card can grab any S/T from deck, and that is if the TCG hates anti hand trap cards.
I don't know much about the latest meta, but Maliss made D Shifter very strong, I originally run D Shifter in Exosisters, and it was a pain for my opponents back then, except, if my opponent plays a deck that doesn't care about D Shifter, then I would have to side it and use another hand trap instead. Maliss being a meta deck must be a pain to play against, especially knowing they also main D Shifter in the build. Although the cards being down to 2 doesn't really affect too much just like Ryzeal cards, maybe their Xyz monster who is part of their key combo.
Speaking of Exosisters, another control card that got hit is Abyss Dweller, and that got to hurt, since Abyss Dweller also stops combo decks along with D Shifter, so I'll be needing to find a replacement, not like I care too much with the game. Link Decoder got banned? I guess Maliss affected this card badly since they are also Cyberse cards. Although I didn't expect Bahamut Shark and Griffin to get banned, I know Bahamut is to cheat out Toadally Awesome because that what I used to do in Pendulum era, I guess it became a common combo, so the card finally got banned. Griffin, I have no idea about other than being a Link 4 Monster.
I have no idea about Master Peace, maybe they would bring back Dracoslayer in the meta again, but more important Mathmech Circular got unbanned. Being back at one is still good enough since we've got plenty of ways to search out Circular from deck. Although, I didn't touch Mathmech stuff too deep, only when they first got released. Brilliant Fusion also got unbanned, so we could do some Gem Knight combos again. Bonfire should get limited during the time they hit all the fire stuff, as that card is pretty OP. But is better late than never. I also can't remember about Druiswurm with the Bystial engine, did people run 3 or just 1 in the build, but I think Druiswurm was at 3 along with Lubellion, then the other Bystial was at 1. Well, I guess this would slow Bystial engine a little, still usable, as they are literally hand trap, but also can put bodies on the field.
For the semi limited, the main cards I was interested was Black Dragon and White Dragon, this might bring back Dragon Link builds, I know Savage Dragon got banned which hurts for turn 1 negate, but I am sure Dragon Link has other ways to set up turn 1 negation. I also guess since Bonfire got limited, they decided to semi limit the Snake Eyes cards and that make sense for me. I don't know about Unchained, but this might set up Fiendsmith combo even more, not like I know anything about the Fiendsmith stuff. Morphing Jar being semi limited is tempting, especially when I see Cyber Jar unlimited, I could try building a Jar deck for troll.
Speaking of unlimited, the semi limited cards have been unlimited, Monkeyboard might not do much since Pendulum have been dead even since Link got introduced. Plus, we have plenty of hand traps to shut out Pendulum stuff, maybe if Electrum get limited, Pendulum might make a difference. Danger are back at full, do that mean we could see more Danger engine builds? Eva is limited, now I don't know if the Heralds stuff are still relevant in the format.
The ban list, there are good and bad depending on which decks you are playing. All I know is that this latest ban list is more about anti hand trap cards, so we have no ways to disrupt hand traps. I guess the good thing will be combo decks won't be able to get away from hand traps with the main cards being limited, only Thrust left being untouched.
