OP10 Red (Luffy (ST21)) Deck Profile

As there are 2 red Luffy Leader, I decided to write the set next to Luffy name so people know which build I'll be posting. I came up with 2 deck build for Luffy, well one of them was an inspiration from the old Zoro build, whilst the other build will have more control, so you don't end up burning up your hand easily, but can also remove your opponent's Characters. There are plenty of ways to build this deck, it is up to you if you have the cards or not.

Nika Control

1 Drop Rush

Nika Control

1 Drop Rush

How it Works?

Two very different builds, one focus more on control using power reducers to take out your opponent's Characters, and the other focused on 1 drop, but 2 of those cards give you the draw power, so you won't lose too much of your hand size just from playing low cost Characters. You could run the Animal engine instead of 1 drop stuff, but personally, I think the Animal engine works better with Zoro who can power up your Characters, whilst for this build, we need to rely on attaching DONs to work.

The control build will be able to take out your opponent's Characters using cards like Beckman and Rayleigh, but more importantly, the build have power reducers, making it easy to attack high power Characters, whilst powering up your Characters with DONs. Not giving any room for your opponents to set up their attacks on the field.

The 1 drop build, only came up with the idea when I saw ST21 Bonney's effect and combined with OP10 Sanji, we can have some decent draw power. Previously, 1 drop build can use up a lot of your hand size, since their power base was pretty weak, wasn't worth protecting the Characters. So you end up with an empty field, not being able to attack, but now we also have some high power Characters as relying on 1 drop Characters will be a downside to this build.

Power Reducers

Nika Control build will have access to power reducers, to reducer your opponent's Character's power, so we could remove them with effects, or attack into those Characters. Otama is a nice 2k counter 1 drop power reducer we can use for the build. The effect works on play, reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 2k this turn.

EB01 Chopper is very good especially when Nika Luffy can give Chopper 2 DONs, triggering the when attacking effect, otherwise Chopper is a Blocker. The effect is reduce 1 of your opponent's Characters power by 3k this turn. It is up to you if you want to attack with Chopper or not, but I guess it depends what is on the field and what cards are in your hand.

Lastly we have OP09 Shanks who is also a Rush Character which is very handy for a 10 drop Character. The effect is reduce all of your opponent's Characters power by 1k, and this is a continuous effect as long as Shanks is on the field, forcing your opponents to use more DONs for their attack to hit your cards, or they would have to reduce the number of attacks to play their cards.

Removals

Now, we move on to the removals, and Nika Control will still use these cards, since they are the best at doing their job, but Rayleigh does have additional effects. Beckman is one of the best removal to have as the effect says trash instead of KO, which means we can get around some effects that prevents KOing Characters. The effect works on play, trash 1 of your opponent's 6k power or less Characters.

OP08 Rayleigh on the other hand isn't just a removal card, but also a power reducer, having 2 kind of abilities in one effect. The effect works on play, select up to 2 of your opponent's Characters, reduce 1 of those Character power by 3k and the other by 2k until the end of your opponent's next turn. Then, KO 1 of your opponent's 3k power or less Characters. If we combined this with OP09 Shanks, we could make targeting certain power a lot easier, or combine this with Otama's effect.

Rush

As for the Rush, both decks will use some of these cards, but 1 drop Rush build uses more since we don't want to rely solely on 1 drop Characters to hit. Having a big drop Characters can also force your opponents to use a lot of counters from hand. OP01 Zoro only has Rush, nothing to expand there, but cost 3 to play so we could put 2 rested DONs on other Characters if needed.

Kid & Killer works best during mid to late game which is why I am only running 2. I don't think they will be good in your hand if you see the card early turn, aside from being a 4 drop Rush Character. The effect works when attacking, if your opponent has 2 or less Life cards, this card gains 2k power during this turn. Although, with the 1 drop Rush build, you could be really aggressive easily triggering Kid & Killer's effect.

ST21 Luffy in my opinion is needed to trigger Nika Luffy's effect, although the effect works when attacking, so we won't be able to avoid trigger effects. The effect is attach 1 rested DON to your Leader or 1 of your Characters. Thanks to this effect, we can give that rested DON to your Leader, and then using the Leader's effect, we could attach 2 rested DONs to 1 of our Characters, powering up our attacks.

ST01 Luffy is in the build because he works the best with Nika Luffy's effect when it comes to using DONs. You do need to attach 2 DONs for ST01 Luffy to work which is the exact number for Nika Luffy's effect. The effect works when attacking, your opponent cannot activate Blockers during this battle. This effect might be only good against Blockers, but we do have a 8k power to swing at your opponent.

Dragon is in the build because the effect can work with Nika Luffy, giving Nika Luffy rested DONs, then Nika Luffy can give rested DONs to your other Characters, making the full use of the DONs even if Dragon cost 8 to play, powering up a few of your cards. The effect works on play, attach 2 rested DONs to your Leader or 1 of your Characters.

Power

Now I'll be talking about the power cards, both decks will run most of these cards, except OP01 Sanji who is more exclusive to Nika Control, because we've got more room compare to 1 drop Rush who is pretty tight in spaces. OP01 Sanji has an activate main effect, you may add 1 card from your Life cards to your hand. This Character gains 2k power during this turn. Then attached 2 rested DONs to this Character, making Sanji a 7k beat stick in total, and could be a 9k beat stick if you combined with Nika Luffy's effect.

OP10 Sanji is to make the build more aggressive, so we can swing at your opponent's cards without much of a drawback. The first effect works during your turn, this Character gains 3k power, making Sanji a 6k beat stick, but give him a DON, and you will be able to trigger Smoker's Leader effect to untap 2 DONs. The second effect works on KO, draw 1 card, so it won't be a huge lost if Sanji is KO'd, as you can draw an extra card.

Lastly we have another Chopper Blocker in Nika Control build, but OP10 version is more of a defensive card rather than EB01 version who can be both attack and defend card. The effect works during your opponent's turn. This Character gains 2k power, making Chopper a 6k Blocker.

1 Drop Supports

Aside from Bonney, the others are pretty much old school card and will be out of rotation by next year, but at least we don't need 4 Rayleigh, that would hurt the wallet. ST21 Bonney needs 2 DONs for the effect to work, and the effect works on KO, draw 1 card. For a 1 drop, this is great as we could put DON onto Bonney to make her attack, and force your opponent to KO Bonney so we can draw a card, just like OP10 Sanji.

Makino has an activate main, so we can play her to the field, before using the effect. The effect is you may rest this Character, 1 of your red 1 cost Character gains 3k power this turn. The downside is Makino is only 0 base power, so she can be easily targeted by your opponent's low power Characters, and if you use counters, you will be using up the hand.

OP02 Magura is technically the same as Makino, but instead of being an activate main effect, the effect works on play. 1 of your red 1 cost Character gains 3k power this turn. Also being a 1 drop Character himself, we could use Makino to boost Magura for an attack, since the effect would be useless when we use the on play effect.

OP02 Dadan is our 1 drop searcher since we do have plenty of 1 drop cards we can search, making Dadan very useful. The effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal one 1 cost red Character and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. We can also use Dadan to attack once we finished using the effect thanks to Nika Luffy's effect, but of course if you have other cards, the other might get the priority to power up.

Straw Hat Supports

Only 1 of the build can access all the cards whilst the other will use 3 of them, and being all SH, it will mean we can search them out using Nami's effect. OP01 Nami works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 SH card other than Nami and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

ST21 Sanji, I am tempted to take him out considering, not many builds run Blockers, making Sanji sometime useless to the game. I am thinking to replace ST21 with OP01 Sanji, making the deck more aggressive, so we can just swing at your opponent's cards. The effect works on play, choose 1 of your SH Characters with 6k power or more and your opponents cannot activate Blockers when the chosen Character attacks this turn.

Radical Beam is one of the best Event, although in the 1 drop build, only running 2 since we want to be as aggressive as possible, and Nika Control can rely on OP01 Sanji to reduce the Life cards. The counter effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 2k power this battle. Then, if you have 2 or less Life cards, that card gains another 2k power. So in total, we could get 4k power for that battle. The trigger effect is your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 1k power this turn.

Bad Manners is just a 0 cost Event counter which will be handy when we used up all the DONs, and being a SH card, we can search this out from deck. The counter effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader or Characters gains 3k power this battle. The effect is very standard as all the colours will have this effect, it is only the trigger effect that is different. The trigger effect is reduce 1 of your opponent's Leader or Characters by 3k this turn.
