EB04 Red/Black (Koby) Deck Profile

Koby got both EB03 and EB04 supports, but it was the EB04 supports that made a huge difference for this build. I don't think we will be adding any OP15 support unless there's a new power reducer that could be useful. There are a few choices we can add to this build, but we do want to keep this mainly Sword as that's where Koby's effect become effective.

EB04 Koby

How it Works?

We will be mainly attacking your opponent's active Characters which is why power reducers will play a huge role in this build, as they will make our Characters easier to hit. Losing Otama doesn't really affects too much for this build as we have other cards who can also reduce your opponent's Character's power. Of course, we also lost Brannew, our Navy searcher who can set up the trash much more easier as we need the mill so Koby could protect our Navy Characters if we have cards in trash.

Power Reducers

Power reducers will be the key to make your attack hits more easily. Although, it does looks like we don't have a lot, but there are some with combined effects. Ace, Sabo & Luffy is a nice 1 drop and much better than OP01 Otama, but having both in deck will be easier. The effect is an activate main, you may attach 1 active DON to your Leader or 1 of your Characters and trash this Character. 1 of your opponent's Characters power loses 3k power for the turn. Unfortunately, we do need an active DON to work, but you get to attach DONs and weaken your opponent's Characters power.

OP11 Doll is only a 1k Blocker, so this card would easily be KO'd by your opponents. Although, what I am after is the on play effect which is you may trash 1 card from your hand, if your Leader is Navy, 1 of your opponent's Characters power loses 6k power for the turn. 6k power is a lot, so we can easily weaken 10k beat stick Characters and attack into those cards.

Attacking Active Characters

As you know, Koby Leader gives like a Pseudo Rush to our Sword Characters, and if we can combined this with attacking active Characters, this can become one deadly combo. OP11 Aramaki has an activate main effect which is you may trash this Character, if your Leader is Navy, 1 of your Navy Characters can also attack active Characters for the turn. Then, trash the top 2 cards of your deck. This would work the best with Sword Characters, although, if you have a Navy Character who can attack, then, you could use this on those Navy Characters.

EB03 Hibari is a great addition to the build and definitely better than OP11 version of the card. Hibari has 2 effects, the first effect works on play or when attacking, 1 of your Sword Leader or Characters can also attack activate Characters for the turn. You can use this effect on herself and she will be able to attack activate Characters thanks to Koby's Leader effect. The second effect is an activate main, 1 of your opponent's Characters power loses 1k power for the turn. You could use this effect first before you attack with Hibari, so your opponents will need to use counters to completely stop the attack.

I'll whip you into Shape is a nice back up option if we don't have the other 2 cards to attack your opponent's active Characters. The main effect is the same as EB03 Hibari's first effect which is 1 of your Sword Leader or Characters can also attack activate Characters for the turn. Of course, we also have a counter effect if you don't need to use the main effect which is your Leader gains 3k power for the battle.

Free Play

We have 2 cards who can play Characters for free, and both of them are Helmeppo which is easy to recognise. EB04 Helmeppo has an activate main effect which is you may trash this Character, play one 3 cost or less Sword Character except Helmeppo from your hand or trash. There's not many options, but your main card would be Hibari. Although, you might want to swing into your opponent's Characters first before using this effect, but that is only if you have power reducers to make Helmeppo hit easier.

OP11 Helmeppo is the main card of the deck as this card can pretty much play any Sword Characters in this build. The effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand, draw 1 card and play one 8 cost or less Sword Character other than Helmeppo from your trash. Then, place the Character played by this effect to the bottom of the deck at the end of turn. We would lose that Character, so you will need to make the effect count.

Draw

What this deck has is the draw power to increase our hand size. This will be useful to get some of the key cards to hand. EB03 Kujyaku is an important card from EB03 set and the effects will be useful. Kujyaku has 2 effects, the first effect works during your opponent's turn, all of your 6 cost or less Sword Characters gains 2k power. We will be powering up all of our Sword Characters as none of them are 7 or above in this build. The second effect works on play, you may trash 1 Navy card from your hand to draw 2 cards. This shouldn't be difficult to pull off.

PRB02 Koby will work very well with EB03 Kujyaku as we could get some power ups. Koby has 2 effects, the first effect works during your opponent's turn, if your Leader is Navy type, this Character gains 1k power. Combined with Kujyaku, we will have an 8k beat stick during your opponent's turn. The second effect works when attacking, KO 1 of your opponent's 3 cost base or less Characters. Then, if you have 6 or less cards in hand, draw 1 card. The KO part will be difficult to pull off, so you will be mainly focusing on the draw power.

EB04 Koby is an important card to have on the field. Just like PRB02 version, Koby has 2 effects. The first effect works once per turn, if your Leader includes Navy type, and this Character would be removed from the field, you may trash 1 card instead. This effect could survive an attack as your opponent would need 2 attacks to work. The second effect works during your turn and once per turn, when your opponent's Character is KO'd, draw 1 card. This will be very easy to pull off as we have plenty of ways to attack your opponent's Characters.

Navy Supports

The rest of the Navy supports are simple as 3 of them are in the previous Koby build. OP11 Kujyaku is our 1 drop searcher with 2 effects. The first effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal up to 1 Navy card except Kujyaku and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The second effect is an activate main effect where you can trash this Character, 1 of your Characters gains 1k power this turn.

Ripper only works if we have a black Navy Character on the field, but this shouldn't be difficult even though we have a mix of red and black Navy in this build. The effect is if you have a black Navy Character except Ripper, this Character gains Blocker. 1 drop Blocker is useful as we can stop 1 of your opponent's attacks without the need to use counters.

Smoker & Tashigi is a Rush Character with an effect that works during your opponent's turn, your Navy type Leader becomes 7k base power. This would make us needing less counters to use from our hand, as some of the Sword Characters doesn't have any counters.

Navy Officer is another 1 drop searcher. The main effect is look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Navy card except Navy Officer and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.
