EB03 Purple/Yellow (Pudding) Deck Profile

Pudding is one of the decks that got hit the hardest when it comes to rotation. Most of the key cards from this build are from Block 1, and losing those cards changes the build entirely. I don't think there was any BM Pirates card that made it to the exception list. I'll see what I can do with the current card pools we've got, the worst part is that I could slap the TB Pirates engine for Pudding and call it a build.

EB03 Pudding

How it Works?

Losing cards like OP03 Katakuri and Big Mom changes this build drastically, especially Katakuri. Now, we've got 1 less Katakuri to target for this build, so we need to rely on searchers. What we do want is still being able to use Pudding's Leader effect, so we can get the ramp cards, and there are a few cards that can flip the Life area, so we can use Pudding's effect more constantly.

I did keep the BM Pirates engine as it made searching for specific cards a lot easier rather than trying TB Pirates engine, and fit BM Pirates engine at the same time. Although, I don't think there's enough room to fit both engine at the same time as we have a lot of purple BM Pirates for this build.

Ramp

1 thing that hasn't change is the ramp cards. These cards will be enough along with Pudding's effect to get as much DONs as possible. EB01 Bon Clay is the best ramp card for this deck as this only cost 4 to play compare to the others. Bon Clay have 2 effects, the first effect works on play add 1 DON as active. The second effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character's base power becomes the same power as the selected Character during this turn.

OP08 Katakuri is a nice 7k beat stick to use once we've used his effect. The effect works on play, you may turn the top card of your Life face down to add 1 DON as active. We can only turn the top card face down, so you will need to make sure 1 of the face up cards will be added to your hand, so you don't have the awkward situation where you can't trigger Pudding's Leader effect since the face up card is below the face down card in your Life area.

OP11 Katakuri is very useful since we are using BM Pirates as our base of the deck. Katakuri is an 8k Blocker with an effect that works at the end of your turn, 2 of your 3 cost or more BM Pirates Characters becomes active. Then, add 1 DON as rest. The ramp could be useful as we have some cards in this build that can return DONs, but more importantly, is being able to untap our BM Pirates Characters so they won't easily be the target of your opponent's attacks.

Life Gain

As you know, we lost both Katakuri and Big Mom from OP03 set because of rotation, although Kuma is still good when it comes to Life gain, just not easier to get in hand. Kuma has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, you may trash 1 card from your hand, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. Then, this Character gains +2 cost until the end of your opponent's turn. The second effect works during your opponent's turn and on KO, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area.

OP08 Big Mom on the other hand is not as good as the OP03 version. She does cost 9 to play compare to 10, but the effect doesn't really benefits you when you play this card. The effect works on play, by returning 1 DON and trashing 1 card from your hand, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. Then, add 1 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Character to the top or bottom of your opponent's Life area. Of course, it would be great if you can choose 0, but it does means your opponent would have 1 extra Life card if you do choose so.

Removals

Both removal cards are low cost, but they do help with Pudding's Leader effect as we need ways to get face down Life cards. OP11 Zeus has a 2k counter, so even if we can't use the effect, the 2k counter will be useful. The effect works on play, you may add the top or bottom card of your Life area to your hand to KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters.

Another removal is EB03 Smoothie, but Smoothie is better than Zeus as we can flip the Life cards rather than taking Life cards away. Just like Zeus, Smoothie has 2k counter, but you would mainly play Smoothie more than Zeus. The effect works on play, if you have a face up Life card, KO 1 of your opponent's 2 cost or less Characters. Then, turn all of your Life cards face down. I don't think we really care about the KO effect since it's hard to pull off constantly, so we mainly want to flip our Life cards face down so we can use the Leader's effect again.

Free Play

For the free play, we've got 2 cards who can play our Characters for free. Kid Katakuri isn't as useful as it used to because we've lost 1 of our Katakuri, and we need to rely on searchers to get the 2 other Katakuri to hand. The effect is an activate main effect. You may trash this Character, if your Leader is BM Pirates, play one 3 cost or more Katakuri that is equal or less than the number of DONs on your opponent's field.

PRB02 Pudding is the card I would use more than Kid Katakuri because Pudding can let us have more options to choose from rather than a specific Character. The effect works on play, by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is BM Pirates type and your opponent have 6 or more DONs on their field, draw 2 cards. Then, play one 6k to 8k power BM Pirates Character from your hand. We do need to wait for your opponent to have at least 6 DONs for Pudding to be effective, but we can play most of the cards in this build.

The Supports

The rest of the support is very simple, OP11 Pudding who is our main searcher in this build and Usohachi for more 2k counter. Pudding has 2 effects, the first effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal one 2 cost or more BM Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Unfortunately, we can only look for 2 cost or more BM Pirates, but the only 1 cost is Pudding in this build. The second effect is an activate main which is, by returning 1 DON and resting this Character, look at the top card of your opponent's deck. This doesn't do much as I am not running any cards in this build that need to use your opponent's deck.

ST18 Usohachi is useful if you've got the DONs, and getting DONs is not hard for this build because of ramp. The effect works on play, if you have 8 or more DONs, rest 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. This will allow us to swing into those Characters, or stopping Blocker abilities from activating.

Events

For the Events, we do have some choices to choose from like OP13 Divine Departure could be replace with Who Should Disappear as that card is still in the rotation. Although, I do prefer Divine Departure as the other is more luck base. The main effect will require you to have an attach DON to work. The effect is by resting 5 DONs, if you have any attached DONs, 1 of your opponent's Characters loses 8k power for the turn. The counter effect is the same as any other 0 cost Event where we trash 1 card, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 3k power for the battle.

Claim the One Piece is our second searcher for the build since we need a replacement of OP03 Pudding. This is so we can get the very specific cards to our hand like Smoothie. The effect is if your Leader is AK Pirates or BM Pirates type, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 AK Pirates or BM Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect.

Beam Sword is useful as when I was playing this deck, I ended up with some spare DONs left to use, and needing some counters are always helpful at stopping your opponent's attacks. The counter effect is by returning 1 DON, your Leader or 1 of your Characters gains 2k power for the battle. Then, rest 1 of your opponent's Characters. The second part of the deck where we can rest any of your opponent's Characters is what I am aiming for, so we could survive longer, or ready to attack that rest Character during our turn. The trigger effect is add 1 DON as active. This is only if you need extra ramp, otherwise, the counter effect is enough.
