Compare to our G/P Luffy build, Katakuri only got 1 new card from PRB02 set, and I've changed the build a little so we can make use of that 1 new card. If you ask me, I do think we need another set of support to suit Katakuri build as currently, most of the BM supports suit toward more for Pudding build rather than Katakuri. But this is just my personal opinion especially when yellow Katakuri is going out of rotation very soon.
PRB02 Katakuri |

Leader Character (44) Event (6) |
How it Works?
The deck is the same as last time where we are making us of Katakuri's Leader effect, so we can check the top card of your opponent's deck to trigger our card's effects. The one difference is that I have added more ramp to this build as there are a lot of cards where we aren't only returning 1 DON back to deck, but 2 or more instead, so these ramp cards will play an important role to keep a steady amount of DONs on the field.
This deck doesn't have a lot of major beat stick as most of the cards act as a support in this build. So we will be relying on our 10 drop Big Mom to do some major damage against your opponent's cards. As well as boosting our power for our Leader during your opponent's turn.
Ramp
The ramp are important for this build as we will be returning a lot of DONs in this build and not just to play our high cost as soon as possible. OP08 Pudding is a nice 3 drop we need to have on the field. The effect is when a DON on your field is returned, add 1 DON as rest. We will be returning DONs using Katakuri's Leader effect especially if we want to also trigger the rest of this build.
OP08 Maria is mainly in the deck because we are maximising 10 drop Big Mom in this build, and when we use Big Mom's effect, we would be returning a lot of DONs back to deck, so Maria can recover those lost DONs. Not only that, there are also other cards that return DONs back to deck. The effect is an activate main effect and the effect only works if you have no other Maria Characters in play. You can add up to 5 DONs as rest. Then, at the end of your turn, return DONs to the DON deck until you have the same number of DON as your opponents.
EB01 Bon Clay is to speed up our ramp since the BM ramp cards all have some requirements to work, whereas Bon Clay can give you that 1 ramp card instantly. Bon Clay have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, add 1 DON as active. The second effect works when attacking, select 1 of your opponent's Characters. This Character base power becomes the same power as the select Character. I guess, after we used the ramp effect, we could make Bon Clay another beat stick to hit your opponent's Characters.
OP11 Perospero would only work if we use effects like Katakuri Leader for the turn, otherwise, you will need to guess in order to make the effect work. The effect is an activate main, you may trash 1 card from your hand, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, draw 1 card and add 1 DON as active. We will be mainly aiming for the ramp effect, but having that additional hand filter could help to get some cards in hand as soon as possible.
OP11 Katakuri is a key card for BM engine as not only he is a Blocker, but we have an effect that works at the end of the turn. 2 of your 3 cost or more BM Pirates Characters becomes active. Then, add 1 DON as rest. Not only we will be getting the ramp effect at the end of the turn, but we can untap 2 of our BM Pirates Characters, including Katakuri himself, so we can use the Blocker ability during your opponent's turn.
Free Play
A little bit different compare to the last build and that is playing some cards for free, although both cards will have certain requirements to work, and not like, we can play them as soon as they hit the field. Kid Katakuri is mainly to play our 8 drop Katakuri either for free or for 2 cost which is a lot better than paying the full 8 cost. The effect is an activate main effect. You may trash this Character, if your Leader is BM Pirates, play one 3 cost or more Katakuri that is equal or less than the number of DONs on your opponent's field. This is very useful as long as your opponent got 8 DONs, we can play kid Katakuri for 2, then use the effect to play 8 drop Katakuri, giving you a lot of DONs left to play other cards.
PRB02 Pudding is only a 5k beat stick for a 7 drop Character, but the effect is very nice to have during the mid to late game. The effect works on play, by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is BM Pirates type and your opponent have 6 or more DONs on their field, draw 2 cards. Then, play one 6k to 8k power BM Pirates Character from your hand. The draw power is definitely useful, so I would wait until your opponent have 6 DONs to play Pudding. Also this is another card where we could play 8 drop Katakuri from our hand since 8 drop Katakuri also have 8k power.
Big Mom Pirates Supports
The rest of the BM supports is the same as the previous build as these cards are a nice staple to the deck. OP11 Anana is the second Blocker in this build to stop your opponent's attacks, so we don't have to wait until we got 8 DONs to play our 8 drop Katakuri. However, there is an effect to gain that Blocker ability which shouldn't be difficult to do in this build. The effect is if you have a purple BM Pirates Character other than Anana, this Character gains Blocker.
OP11 Pudding is our main searcher for the deck, and it is the 1 card we do want to see in our hand to get the search going. Pudding have 2 effects, the first effect works on play, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal one 2 cost or more BM Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The second effect is an activate main which is, by returning 1 DON and resting this Character, look at the top card of your opponent's deck. This is more of a backup effect in case your opponent draw the top card using one of their effects when we used Katakuri's Leader effect.
OP11 Streusen is another card like Perospero where we need to use the Leader's effect in order to make the card work. Although, I mainly use this card for the 2k counter since he is only 3k beat stick on the field. The effect is an activate main effect, by returning 1 DON, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, rest 1 of your opponent's 4 cost or less Characters.
OP11 Big Mom is our main beat stick we want to have on the field. I know she cost 10 to play which is the downside, but in return, we also got a lot of upside for this card. First of the advantage is that we've got Rush, and in order to gain Rush, our Leader need to be BM Pirates for the effect to work. The other effect works during your opponent's turn, by returning 5 DONs, choose a cost and reveal 1 card from top of your opponent's deck. If the reveal card is the chosen cost, 1 of your Leader gains 2k power for the turn. You do want to use Katakuri's Leader effect first, so we would know the cost of the top card, then use this effect to make our Leader a 7k base for the turn.
Events
I am running no Events with counter effect, just main effects only. One Piece is another searcher in case we don't see our Pudding searcher in our opening hand. The effect is if your Leader is AK Pirates or BM Pirates, look at the top 5 cards of your deck, reveal 1 AK Pirates or BM Pirates and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is activate this card's main effect. This is better than Pudding searcher as we don't need to look for 2 cost or higher Characters as we can also searcher for 1 drop too.
Conquest of the Sea is the only removal in the deck. We don't have any removal effects for our Characters, and having some form of removal would be better than attacking into those rest Characters to remove them. The effect is by returning 2 DONs, if your Leader is AK Pirates or BM Pirates, KO up to 2 of your opponent's 6 cost or less Characters. 6 cost or less is quite a high number, so we could clear our 2 of your opponent's beat sticks that could put a threat to our cards.
