OP10 Yellow (Katakuri) Deck Profile

Just like Enel, Katakuri doesn't really have a major update from OP10 set. Just one or 2 cards we can use for the deck. I guess it is still better than nothing at all. The build will be mostly the same as the previous build where we utilise the Big Mom Pirates engine for Katakuri build.

OP10 Katakuri

How it Works?

As you can see, I tried to keep the build relatively similar where we still want to keep Big Mom Pirates engine, as well as the other staples for this deck. To cramp OP10 cards in this build will be very difficult as we will be taking out some of the key cards, which I've did just to fit OP10 Kid. The deck is the same as last time where we focus on checking the top cards for any triggers, and if we can hit those trigger effects, it will be really good.

I did want to focus on trashing your opponent's top Life card along with OP09 Robin, but as you can see, I don't have the room to fit Robin except cutting down some numbers. Although Robin is very situational which is why I prefer OP10 Kid when it comes to trashing your opponent's Life cards, so we can finish off your opponents as soon as possible.

Life Gain

The power of Life gain, some of them are very situational, so you might not even pull off Life gain with these cards. EB01 Shirahoshi is a Blocker with an effect, when this Character is KO'd by your opponent's effect, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life area. The best thing about Shirahoshi is that if she stays on the field, we will be able to stop 1 of your opponent's attacks, but if she is KO'd by effect, then we can gain a new Life card.

ST07 Big Mom is a nice early big drop we can play to put pressure against your opponents, but the effect is very situational. The effect works on play, your opponents chooses one of the following, they either trash their Life or you gain a Life. This is a win win choice if your opponent has Life cards, forcing them to either trash a Life or you gain a Life.

10 drop Big Mom is one of our major powerhouse in this build, this one Character is the one that can force your opponents to use a lot of counters, or eat up their Blockers. The effect works on play, if your Leader is BM Pirates type, add the top card of your deck to top of your Life. Then, trash 1 card from your opponent's Life. The only downside to this is that we won't be able to use Katakuri's effect for a turn, but we would have a new Life card.

Who Should Disappear is the only event I am running in the build, you can use both counter effect and the trigger effect which is very easy to set up with Katakuri's Leader effect. The counter effect is the same as any other colours. You may trash 1 card from your hand, 1 of your Leader or Characters gains 3k power this battle. What's different between these cards will be their trigger effects, and this trigger effect is if you have 0 Life, you may add the top card of your deck to top of your Life. Then, trash 1 card from your hand. So if you managed to get Who Should Disappear in your Life area, we want to put this card at the bottom, so we can definitely trigger the trigger effect.

Removals

There's not a lot of removals in this build as some of them are mainly trigger effects, and some are in the Life gain section. Majority of the deck will have trigger effect which means we can trigger OP08 Nami's effect. The effect works on play, you may trash 1 card with trigger from your hand to KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters. Then, if you have 3 or less cards in your hand, draw 1 card. 3 or less cards in your hand shouldn't be too difficult, especially during late game where we need the draw power. The trigger effect is just activate this card's on play effect.

Gedatsu is mainly for early removal plus having a 6k beat stick on the field is really useful compare to Nami's 5k power. The effect works on play, KO 1 of your opponent's Characters with cost equal to or less than the number of your opponent's Life cards. So the more cards in your opponent's Life area the better, but we do have cards that can trash your opponent's Life cards.

Like OP10 Kid for example which is the only new card I have added to this build. Kid has 2 effects, the first effect work on play, you may rest this Character to trash the top card of your opponent's Life area. This is very useful since Kid will have summon sickness on the turn he is played. The downside will be that he will become an attack target for your opponents. The second effect works at the end of your turn, if your opponent has 2 or less Life cards, draw 1 card and trash 1 card. This isn't difficult to pull off with the number of trashing your opponent's Life cards in this build.

Trigger Characters

The trigger Characters is the exact same as last time, but I might changed some numbers from the previous build. These cards are in the deck mainly for their trigger effects, and if they ended up in your hand, you can use most of them as a discard fodder for OP08 Nami's effect. OP06 Onami has a nice main effect and a trigger effect, it will depends on the situation and see what you would like. The main effect works on play, 1 of your Leader or Character gains Banish this turn. Banish helps you to trash your opponent's Life. The trigger effect is the main effect I am after, KO 1 of your opponent's 5 cost or less Characters.

ST20 Brulee's trigger effect is just the same as Katakuri's Leader effect where we can check the players top Life cards. The trigger effect is look at the top of your or your opponent's Life cards, and place it on top or bottom of the Life cards. Then, add this card to your hand. I think being able to add Brulee to your hand will rely help, especially when she also has 2k counter where we can use for defence.

OP04 Bege on the other hand isn't like ST20 Brulee as once you use Bege's trigger effect, he will go straight to the trash. The trigger effect is 1 of your opponent's Leader or Characters cannot attack this turn. This will slow your opponents down, and with Katakuri checking the top of your Life cards, we can put this on top or bottom, if it is too early to use the trigger effect.

ST07 Brulee is a Blocker with a trigger effect that lets you play this card. Nothing much I can expand, but having Blockers to stop your opponent's attacks will come in handy, especially when this build needs some time to set up and start going.

Satori is another vanilla, however, the trigger effect will depends on the state of your field. If you need more Characters, then Satori could be useful, but if its just the defence, then we can keep Satori in hand for the 2k counter. The trigger effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand to play this card.

Big Mom Pirates Supports

Now for the rest of the BM Pirates, we've got these cards. 2 of them are searcher whilst the other is optional, but mainly for the 2k counter. OP03 Pudding works best as your turn 1 play. The effect works on play, look at the top 4 cards of your deck, reveal 1 Sanji or BM Pirates card other than Pudding and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order.

EB01 Flampe isn't as important for this deck compare to Enel, but the effect can still be handy for some situations like if you really need the top Life card. The effect works on play, you may add the top or bottom Life card to your hand to draw a card. We can use Katakuri's Leader effect to see if there are any cards we want to add to hand, then use Flampe's effect to get another card to increase your hand. The downside will be your Life area is reduced, and it would be better to take the hit instead.

OP03 Perospero is another searcher, however, the effect works on KO in order to work. This might be the downside if your opponent is avoiding the search effect, but in return we will have a nice beat stick on the field to chip away your opponent's cards. The effect is look at the top 3 cards of your deck, reveal 1 BM Pirates card and add it to your hand. Then, place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. The trigger effect is you may trash 1 card from your hand to play this card.
