I don't know if its just me feeling that Digimon cards are becoming more expensive recently whilst One Piece cards are a lot cheaper recently. Not that I am favouring One Piece Card Game over Digimon as both games have totally different mechanics, so they cannot be compared. However, there is one thing we can compare and that is both games are made by Bandai.
Lately when I was trying to upgrade my old Digimon decks with newer cards, I felt that the pricing is so expensive, especially when you need 4 of those cards instead of 1-3 copies. Last time I felt like this was when I was playing the V Series of VG where there were some crazy pricing for what those cards does. YGO has always been known to be expensive, so I won't even compare this to Digimon.
Anyway, what I am trying to say, unless Digimon are reprinting cards, some cards will always be expensive, especially promos. For some reason, Digimon has been heavily relying on promos if you want to build a competitive deck like the Training cards or Memory Boost. Although, I personally think Training cards are way more expensive than Memory Boost, hopefully Bandai will reprint these cards.
This is a problem if you want to build a new deck from scratch and don't have any of these cards. It will take a lot of money to build, especially promo cards. Although lately, there are a few super rare cards that cost a lot, more expensive than some secret rare cards. So if we add that together with the promo cards, your deck won't be cheap to build. I was surprised about the pricing when I was trying to upgrade my deck, buying 4 copies of this card means I could build a new deck for One Piece, well it would depends on what deck you are making for One Piece, but a lot of builds are very cheap.
Before, I feel Digimon was very cheap to build a decent deck, but I don't know at what stages that the game is becoming more expensive, maybe when they introduced more keywords, or cards have a YGO text effect? I guess the only good thing about this game is that stock isn't an issue compare to One Piece. Like for One Piece, I can't even find a starter deck for sale, whilst Digimon is very easy to find starter decks. Well both games have pros and cons, so they are not better than one another.
Well, I really hope Digimon will get reprint like One Piece did. The last reprint set personally was terrible and it wasn't really a reprint set as we had other cards that were out in JPN format that are printed in that set. It didn't feel like a proper reprint set like One Piece where the cards were already out, but they have reprinted them to make it easier to access. There wasn't any new cards in the One Piece set aside from Sanji Leader. Although speaking of One Piece reprint set, it wasn't all that great as there were cards I personally thought they should get reprinted considering they were a staple in a lot of decks.
