YGO TCG Forbidden & Limited List, effective May 18, 2026.

I haven't kept up with YGO but this ban list is weird for me, it seems I have missed out a lot of stuff in this meta with the cards being hit. Noroi, Rosewhip and Fanatix Machinix got banned. I guess I can understand why Rosewhip got banned, because of modern YGO who relies on spell cards and monster's effects, but the 2 other cards doesn't make sense to me. I need someone filling me in on why those 2 cards got banned.

Limited

As always, the ban list always murder Synchrons, because I see Synchro Overtake being limited, and I think that card is pretty important for Synchrons. I guess I will have to replace it with other Synchrons searcher. I know why Overtake got hit, because of Kewl Tunes who have been using that card for easy synchros. I have heard Kewl Tunes will be the new meta for YGO when I was looking up for YGO decks.

I didn't think Yummy was this good in this meta currently, it's mainly Dracotails which I saw a lot in the games. Chant got limited means I guess I'm reverting back to the old Salamangreat build with Terratop combo. Yes, I still play Salamangreat even though it's not competitive, but I know Konami wouldn't hit the build because of that. I'm not lucky with Synchrons though with all the main cards used in other builds and get hit by the ban list.

Branded Fusion got hit, I guess, we won't be seeing Branded for a while in the game. Snow is back, but I know it could be bad news when these Fairy Tail cards are back.

Semi Limited

I think Dracotail is officially dead now, Kewl Tunes is the new meta for the game. Maybe Elfnote too, but Elfnote is a weird one, maybe after they got a new support from the latest YGO set, they could dominate.

Although, I have stopped caring about modern YGO these days and focus on the old YGO formats that are available. I actually miss those days when the game wasn't all about who's going 1st, so even if you have a bad hand on turn 1, you won't need to scoop as there is always a next turn compare to modern YGO, unless they play OTK decks. Also the cards are still cheaper, even though they are old and rarely printed, they are still cheaper than some of the modern YGO cards.
