[One Piece Card Information Bureau] OP16 - THE TIME OF BATTLE Events Revealed

There's a new presentation format revealed, and it basically tells you all about how to play the Leaders. The Leaders have already got the official English translation from the OPCG World Finals video, so I can skip that part. Although, this video talks more about the new Events for each of the decks rather than the cards itself.

But I can say, no idea how Yamato is related to this set theme. I've already talked about these when they've revealed the Leaders, so I don't really want to talk about this again. There are plenty of Leaders potential for Paramount War, and they've decided to pick Yamato which was random. Maybe it is just the lack of variety of type that could be an issue.

Cards

Let’s Show Them What We’re Made Of

Red Event (OP16-019)

9 Cost

Whitebeard Pirates

[Main] Play up to 2 Characters including ”Whitebeard Pirates” in its types with 8000 power from your hand.

[Trigger] Up to 1 of your Leader gains +1000 power during this turn.

That's a massive cost, 9 cost to play 2 beat sticks on the field. It could be worth it, it could not, depends on the deck really. The trigger effect is definitely useful as we can power up our Leader for the turn.

Let’s Go!! To The Navy Headquarters!!

Green Event (OP16-038)

1 Cost

Impel Down / Straw Hat Crew

[Main] You may rest 6 of your DON!! cards: If you have 5 {Impel Down} type Characters with different card names, set your Leader and all your Characters as active.

[Counter] Your Leader gains +3000 power during this battle.

Reading this effect is going to be difficult to have 5 IP Characters with different name, you will have to reduce the number of copies to pull the effect off. For 7 DONs in total, we would be able to attack 6 times again, so 12 in total. But 5 will be difficult, if your opponent has removals and constantly attacking your rested Characters.

The Prisoners Are Rioting!

Blue Event OP16-058

1 Cost

Impel Down

[Main] If you have 10 DON!! cards on your field, set the base power of all of your [Prisoner of Impel Down] to 7000 during this turn.

[Counter] Up to 1 of your [Buggy] cards gains +4000 power during this battle.

I mean it's okay, you do need 10 DONs in order to make Prisoner of Impel Down a 7k base power Character. Although, it does give you enough DONs to power the cards up and become a deadly beat stick for the turn. The counter effect only powers up Buggy, but if you running Buggy Leader, that won't be difficult to pull off.

"Buddha" Sengoku

Purple Event (OP16-077)

1 Cost

Navy

[Main] Look at 5 cards from the top of your deck; reveal up to 2 {Navy} type cards, add them to your hand and place the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, trash 1 card from your hand.

Just a simple searcher for Navy build which would be very useful to get all 3 Admirals to the field.

I've Come Here To Cut Those Chains!

Black Event (OP16-099)

1 Cost

Land of Wano

[Main] You may rest 6 of your DON!! cards: Trash 5 cards from the top of your deck. Then, play up to 1 {Land of Wano} type Character card with a cost of 6 or less from your trash.

[Counter] Your Leader gains +3000 power during this battle.

As you can tell, the new Yamato focused on self milling. It's been quite the standard style for new Black decks for a while. We might not get cost reducers or increase costs deck style anymore if this is becoming the normal. It is not bad as if we accidently mill the key cards, we can pay 7 DONs to bring that card from the trash. It does cost 1 cost more than hard playing from hand, but if you need that card, it will be worth it.

Black Vortex

Yellow Event (OP16-115)

1 Cost

The Seven Warlords of the Sea / Blackbeard Pirates

[Main] If your Leader has the {Blackbeard Pirates} type, add up to 1 card with a <Trigger> other than [Black Vortex] from your trash to your hand.

[Trigger] Negate the effects of up to 1 of your opponent's Leader or Character cards during this turn.

Personally, not as good as the current Black Vortex we've got currently, but I will still take it as the trigger effect if the exact same effect as the original one, so triggering both of them in a game could be useful if your opponent has some important card effects.
