An announcement that is surprising, but then again, the products that are scheduled are all releasing this month. What we want is the next set for this game and a new product schedule. We also got card reveals in this video, but I will breakdown some important stuff. There are a lot of stuff announced in this video, and once you watched this video, you will be able to know what cards will be release in the first half of the year.
I will be looking forward to some of them even though I don't play the game, but the announcement could make GCG grow bigger. Not many card games get this kind of treatment especially when it comes to Bandai card games. My main focus is OPCG, but at this rate, I could hop over to GCG and focus more on the gameplays, and find a simulator, so I can start posting GCG decks.
Over 700k
For a game that started in July, I think this is not a bad number, at least we know this game won't be a fail product and would shut down in a few years. Well, I guess it depends on the path the game would take. Powercreep is what usually ruins card games, and there are plenty of games who went into power creep, or completely changed the game style like Digimon. Digimon isn't a game that focused on digivolving all the way up like the old days, it's all about who can play more Digimon on the field as soon as possible, setting up for 1 big swing with a lot of protections.
Product Schedule
Finally found out when's Gundam Assemble comes out and that is in February so we could start playing Gundam D&D. GD04 will be releasing in April.
Cards
Kampfer in GD03 set have been revealed, and looks like this might be the first Unit with Burst ability. Maybe, we would get more in future but who knows. Anyway, this is good for a Cyclop Team theme deck as this Unit is a must have in order to attack active units. This would also means you won't need to worry about your opponents attacking your shield on their turn, or activate Blockers to stop your attacks.
Gundam Assemble
Gundam Assemble is expensive, but then again, D&D figures are always expensive for their sizes. It's not like Gunplas where the parts matter, the fewer the parts, the cheaper they've become unless it is like a Limited Edition Gunpla. What's more annoying is that you have to paint these models yourself as they do not come in colours, so you will have to buy paints which will add more costs. At least, you get cards in Gundam Assemble.
Reprints are ST05 cards for PC01A which is disappointing.
Its the same for PC02A.
You will also get resources cards.
GD04 Preview
Victory Gundam and Turn A will be joining the series for GD04 set. I forgotten what's the series called for Turn A, and the name doesn't even ring me a bell. I have watched it, but it's a long while ago, whilst Victory is quite dark, or very dark. Well, if it shown in the new era of anime, I think parents will file complaints. Hopefully, the cards won't be as dark for Victory.
Not surprised here, otherwise, they will ran out of ideas if they do not split them into different colours.
TWFM will now be in green so I guess we can make a white/green Aerial deck if it's possible.
GD05 Preview
Looks like it's about time G Gundam will be joining the game, but looks like we will be getting Shining Gundam not God(Burning) Gundam, and I am not surprised since we are getting Destiny Ultimate Deck, so Strike Freedom should be revealed along with Infinite Justice. What I am surprised is that these cards will be in GD05 set.
Also will be the 1st Anniversary for the game when GD05 comes out.
For some reason, the picture quality is low even though I am on 1080p settings, but G Gundam will be mainly White build.
Deck Build Box
This is actually good, what I hate about Bandai card games were that you always have to join at the beginning, otherwise, you won't get the old cards, especially the staples. But, some people don't want to invest in the card game early in case it fails, which is why joining in the middle would be great, but also be too late since some cards are already sold out, and you will have to get them at a higher price compare to their original price.
Now I like this idea, and if only other card games would follow the same path instead of releasing in a booster pack. I know, this won't be cheap and it is really similar to DBS Masters, the 1 DBS that doesn't have JP format, they usually release something like this where you get storage box and a lot of cards.
As I don't have a local to play with, I won't buy it, but for any newcomers, I think this would be a good start. Although, you will have to buy 2-3 more copies of the reprinted cards if they only reprint 1 card per 25. I guess you can always trade the ones you don't want unless you are building every single colours.
Well, I guess some people will be chasing this if this is not in GD05.
SD Collabs
Looks like the game is popular with over 7 million downloads, but I think the card game won't get this much people unless they make like an official simulator for people to play.
Hopefully, this is not a one off collabs, because I really hate those card games with one off collabs, so the deck would be lacking supports vs newer decks. But if you are a big fan of the SD franchise, then this is it for you.
Roadmap
Looks tight with the release date, but that's because SD is like their own set, so you won't be given a 3 month timeline like the GD sets. But overall, a lot will be coming this year all the way till next year announcement.
World Championships
Regionals are always a problem for me no matter which card game it is. The location is always around 6 hours drive away, maybe it's also the same for some people too, hopefully this would solve some problems by having store qualifiers as well as major events.
I have no idea what I have planned for this year, but looks like we would have 2 chances for a shot of getting to the world stage.
GCG Expo
GCG Expo, I feel like GCG is getting a better treatment compare to the other Bandai games, the other games are just boosters sets and decks and that's it, whilst GCG got all sort of activities we could do.
I think the Expo will be about the locations, and it will be mainly in the major cities like the regionals.
