ONE PIECE Card Game Championship 25-26 Season 2 Area Tournament in Tokyo First

I want to talk about this tournament even though there's nothing new reveal, so you can ignore this post if you don't care about the tournament results. This will be the first regional where we see OP14 decks being used and seeing how Ace and Imu are the most used decks in the last set, I want to see what major changes have there been since OP14 is now being used.

Of course, there might be major changes, or no changes at all like the EB03 set. Although, there are some pretty strong cards in OP14, so I do think there will be some changes to the meta compare to EB03 set who mainly supports old decks.

Tournament

There's actually more variety in this tournament, maybe it is one off where multiple people are using more than just 1 off builds, so I do like this kind of result as it feels more unique rather than having Ace and Imu being used in the tournament 50% of the time. But this is just my personal opinion, and people will want to win, so of course, they will choose the best current meta decks rather than entering with their favourite builds.

I can say 1 think, OP12 Zoro has fallen off compare to the OP13 meta. The new green meta is OP14 Mihawk with 19% of people using that deck. OP13 Ace looks like it is still doing pretty well with 15% of people of using that deck. Now the 1 Leader I want to use is the new OP14 Hancock with 11% of people using that build, so I'll be looking forward to that deck. Lastly, Imu is still doing well with 10% of people using that deck.

Looks like OP07 Bonney is going pretty strong with 5% of people using that deck, and I am not surprised, since the new green cards can always work with Bonney even if it's only a small upgrade. The other 5% is OP11 Nami and looks like that deck got some improvement with some of the OP14 cards that could work with the build. The 4% will be Sabo and I am assuming this is OP13 Sabo as that Leader is pretty good compare to the old Leader if you can get the deck right.

Now moving on to the 3%, we have OP14 Doffy, OP14 Jinbe and OP11 Luffy. I am still surprised is Luffy is still going strong after getting hit by the ban list. For the 2%, we have 6 decks, Roger has dropped dramatically with OP12 Zoro. Surprisingly, we have more people using OP13 Luffy. Then, we have EB03 Vivi, OP14 Crocodile and OP14 Moria. So the entire OP14 decks have actually made it to the list, and not 1 deck will only have 1 person using the deck.

Top 16

To be honest, the number of people using certain decks for the tournament doesn't matter. What matters is the deck that reached top 16. Ace is not surprising, even I think that deck is too OP, whilst Imu got 3 people who reached top 16. What I am surprised is Mihawk, as we can see 19% of people using Mihawk build, but only 2 reached top 16. I guess Mihawk vs Mihawk is mainly a counter to each other as they wouldn't work as well compare to against other builds.

However, there are more surprising results, 2 people who used the new Doffy reached top 16, and being only 3% of the people who uses that deck, that is quite a turnout. But let's also give shout out to the people who uses Jinbe, Luffy and Sanji. Surprisingly, Sanji deck was in the other section, and I didn't know they made it to top 16, as mainly, the other section rarely make it to top 16. This have to be some build if they have the deck list.

I'm actually disappointed with Hancock. Hancock has a large turnout, but only 1 reached to top 16. Nami is not disappointing, but I am only surprised only 1 reached top 16. Well, this top 16 result has a lot of surprising factors, and it proves, the number of people using certain decks means nothing as top 16 only matters, especially if the format is using Bo1 as a lot of factors is involve.
